Cloudy, calm and warm ....

2nd November 2024 (Saturday)    09.00 .... Although the sky is overcast, it's not raining and it's

warm for this time of year.   It's a nice morrrrrrrrrning even though it is grey.  I'll have a walk up the road after breakfast, but the main 'plan' today, is to get organised for 'JB' coming on the 7th.      

10.30    The workmen are finishing off the trench (re-surfacing the road).  I don't know if the work on the Ferry Road sub-station has been completed , but I think it has been.   I'll have a wander up that way after the workmen are finished.

20.30   The weather has been disappointing so I never went anywhere:  but I managed to get JB's bed almost made up.   Tomorrow I have to put the downie into its cover;  not one of my favourite jobs.  I'm slowly getting better at pacing myself.   

The horrifying flash floods in Spain continue to dominate the news!  There's no doubt that the weather patterns around the world are changing;   with some catastrophic results.   What will it be like by the end of this century?    Our planet is in a sad state;  a lot of it brought on by human greed.  

That brings me to the Presidential Election in the USA!   I can't believe that the two candidates are the best that can come out of a population 260 million adults.   And yet, by the middle of this week one of them will be the President of the USA,.... and 'Leader' the Western world.  Apparently it all rests on how seven 'swing states' vote!   And it's called 'democracy'!  When you watch the two candidates they look like poor quality sales people selling rubbish .... but pretending it's something of the finest quality!    We live in worrying times!

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
