  17th October 2020 (Saturday)      10.30 .... it’s a beautiful morning but it is Spring tide. cold (not as cold as it’s going to be tomorrow apparently). The paper run has been half done;     I ran out of battery power for the camera.    Usually I am sooper efficient’ when it comes to charging the batteries, but didn’t that last time obviously.      The first battery should be about fully charged now;     I’ll have a cuppa then go up to Chapel Green to finish off the ‘paper run’. 17.30     The wind dropped away in the afternoon so I went to Chapel Green for some exercise after spending most of the afternoon pottering about with the bookshelves.     My word the villages are busy;   I don’t know if it was day trippers, or folk here on holiday, but it’s good to see people out enjoying themselves, but lets hope that's not a double edged sword the way things are wit...

  16th October 2020 (Friday)      08.30 .... The big boats are at the side of the 'Crane Out' at Elie. pier ready to be ‘craned out’ so the crane will be here fairly soon:   I’ve been to Elie for the paper and had a quick look at the harbour before coming back to Ivy for breakfast.... and a cuppa.     It’s a nice morning, sunny spells with a light breeze ... perfect for ‘crane out’.     Slight ‘flap on’ now;   got to have breakfast then get down to the harbour;   I’m assuming that the crane will arrive between 10.00 and 11.00.....   it's a big tide today (6.1m). 18.00     ‘Crane Out’ went smoothly and the harbour is in winter mode once again.     I went down and got a few photographs of the action, but, although enjoying it, it was too cauld for this ‘boy’ to stay there to the end.    I caught the first two boats (Yachts ‘Defiant and Sun Dance’) bei...

  15th October 2020 (Thursday)      08.30 ....As forecast the sky is overcast, 'Annie Laurie' having a sail before 'crane out'. but there are blue bits beginning to appear, so we might get a few sunny spells;   it’s a nice  morning for going for the paper, on the bike:     I’ll go in mid morning, by which time I’m hoping the temperature should be a wee bit higher, though it’s never going to be very high..... always below where it should be at this time of year.     Funny that;    most of our (Scottish) summer the temperature has been below average, while the rest of the planet (including ‘Sunny Sussex’) has been   experiencing global warming.       I’d better have another cuppa . 16.30      We nearly had a sunny spell, but it has been ‘grey day’ most of the time.    I biked along, for the paper, at 11.00 and was surprised to see how busy the village wa...

  14th October 2020 (Wednesday)    08.30 .....the wind is still coming from the 20 minutes after sunrise. easterly direction but is isn’t as cold as it was yesterday .... there’s less North in it.     We did have red sky in the morning, at sunrise time, (it was spitting rain at the time so I didn’t go to the beach to catch the sunrise) but I did catch the 'tail end' of it from the front gate;   not a good omen;   I don’t agree with it because I want to get out on the bike.... and there is a good chance of decent sunny spells in the afternoon. 21.30    Although never a really bonnie day, the sky did clear a bit and it turned quite pleasant:   pleasant enough for me to go out on the bike later in the afternoon.     I only went as far as Chapel Green but it was good to get out again.    I was ‘day dreaming, on  seats overlooking the cliffs, when Elizabeth and Graham came round, ...

  13th October 2020 (Tuesday)      08.00 .... ‘Light rain with a fresh wind’ is Cadger's Wynd, Earlsferry. the forecast and that is what we have, but \already we have ‘raggedy bloo’ patches beginning to appear so the rain should clear away tp0 shower by the middle of the day.    The ‘fresh wind’, and it is fresh, is from the Northeast so it’s not warm. I’m feeling good this morning after a really good night’s sleep;   the funny thing was that I didn’t feel at all sleepy last night..... in fact I had the urge to do something.    In the end I found something to watch on the tele.... Guy Martin, organising the building of a replica Mk IV tank, as used in the Great War, with great success at the battle of Cambrai (the Gordon Highlanders earned battle honours at Cambrai).    Guy, and a chosen crew of experts, drove the replica   Mk IV, on the actual site of the battle on Armistice Day, one hundred years later. ...

  12th October 2020 (Monday)      08.00 ....   it looks like the camera will be .... after the rain! staying in the car when I’m In Anstruther;   the rain is forecast to be with us for most of the day.     It is not a pretty morning .... although it was dry when I got up we now have steady rain, with hardly a breath of wind.    I won’t be going   to the beach until tomorrow by the look of it. 16.00     Well the flu jab was a dawdle.... but it was raining in Anstruther so the camera never left it’s bag.     The sky was beginning to break up though, and, on the way home, I thought I’d have a cuppa then go to the beach, but not just yet..... it 's still spitting rain.   I’ll have another cuppa.     I didn’t get any photographs but I did get to ‘The Store’ to buy some vital ingredients.     David was in (I didn’t recognise him behind the mask at first, but he in...

  11th October 2020 (Sunday)       16.30 .... my word I have been dilatory Pinkfoot geese. today;   this is the first of me getting round to ‘The Hutte’ and I’m apologise for that.     We have a lovely day here and I have been busy.     My breathing is back to normal. I don’t know what was in the air yesterday but it disagreed with me.    That is what allergies do unfortunately.    Anyway things have been totally normal today. I had a ‘lie in’ and didn’t get out on bed until 07.15..... but was showered, dressed   and ready to go for the paper by 07.40 (ish).    Alistair was busy on his computer so Monica came for their paper this morning .... so we chatted while waiting in the queue.    That was a good start to my day.
