Nice morning ....

21st March 2026 (Saturday)     "Happy Birthday" to Iain.   He will be 6?.... oh, my word;  that is auld! 10.15 .... we have a bonnie, sunny mornin;  and warm, with a light breeze.   There is a light mist ;  I cannae see the 'Sooth side o' the Firth (East Lothian), but it's a good drying day so I have a small washing out.    'Blob' is definitely 'in love';  he, and 'Blobbette' seems to be thinking of nesting in the Ivy bush.   I might get 'The Buggy' out later;  once the temperature gets up a bit.   I was thinking of going to the harbour but the roads will be busy.... do, Chapel Green it shall be!    Ferry Road is busy.  17.15    It has been a nice, sunny day, and although warm on the patio, folk coming up from the beach were well wrapped up.  There has been a chill in the air all day; so it would be cold on the beach and the harbour.   I didn't go out on '...

Nice morning ....

20th March 2026 (Friday)    09.45 .... The sun is burning off the early morning fog and we should  have  lovely, peaceful, sunny and warm day ahead.    I'll get 'The Buggy' out in the afternoon, if the roads aren't busy.   It's not the best kind of ;drying day' but I might do a washing;  KY9 could be warm later.   'Blob' was twittering happily this morning;  it could be that he is 'in love'.   Spring is definitely in the air.   That said it is March, and the weather can be varied;  even snow, as in 1947!   Off to do some 'work'!   After I put the kettle 'on'. 16.15    This has been a beautiful Spring day;  sunny and warm, with only a light breeze.     I actually did 'work' things this morning:  the single bed has been stripped and the bedding.   A bit more breeze would have been better for drying the bedding, but I'll iron it later and ha...

19th March 2026 (Thursday)    09.30 .... We have a lovely morning...."sunny with a light, Easterly  breeze" (8.8C) on the patio thermometer at present).   I have washed another two jerseys;  it should be a good drying day;  that said, light cloud could come in from the North Sea.   Don't want that to happen!    As planned I got up early to go out on the bike, but the chilly air at the time made me change my mind about that.    Ferry Road is busy now.  14.15    My word.... Spring has sprung right enough;  we have a gorgeous sunny, and warm, (17.3C on the patio thermometer) day at KY9.   I went to the paper shop, and to the harbour;   even down there it was comfortably warm.   I got a good selection of photographs to play with.   Unfortunately GIMP crashed on me so I can't 'play' with them until Iain comes down at the weekend.   He will reload GIMP....

18th March  2026 (Wednesday)     09.30 .... We have a lovely sunny, and warm morning;  in fact it could be the warmest day of the year so far down in 'Sunny Sussex':  unfortunately for us there's a cold front moving in.  That said,  it' a lovely morning just now.  I was looking forward to going to the Friendship Lunch at Colinsburgh today,  but I'll have to put that off as I'm feeling under the weather.    It's an interesting ailment is asthma (frustrating but interesting), yesterday was a brilliant day for me;  today? .... not so brilliant.  Probably the cold front already moving in!   I'll stay 'in' most of the day, but might go for a run in the car in the afternoon.   Must remember to phone Myra. 19.00    My word ... it has been a beautiful Spring day;  the temperature on the patio was at 15.2C at one point;  the warmest day patio this year, so far.   I'm looking d...

17th March 2026 (Tuesday)     St Patrick's Day.    09.15 .... It's a nice morning; and. although windy ,it's a warmer wind than we had for the past few weeks.  Actually strong winds are forecast, for the middle of the day.   I've hung out a washing;  it's certainly a good drying day.   There's low chance of a shower in the morning, but I'm feeling positive.    I'll have another cuppa then got ready to go to Methil and Leven. 19.00    It has been a nice day;  and a pleasantly warm one.   I enjoyed my morning 'annoying' Alice;  and the bit of retail therapy in Sainsbury's.   As is normal nowadays the roads were extremely busy:  I don'tb think I'll ever get used to just how busy the roads are now compared to not that many tears ago.   I suppose the fact that the East Neuk has a lot of Air B n B properties will account for some of the increase. As you can see in the top p...

Sunny spells ....

16th March 2026 (Monday)     10.00 .... It's a nice morning, but there's ac .hilly wind.   The sky was mostly blue when I got up (07.00)  but is cloudier now with cloud, and rain, moving in from the Southwest.  Rain is forecast to arrive in the afternoon.    I'm going to have a quiet day working between the computer and doing 'ousework.   Jackie and Iain are coming down next weekend so I'd best run round wi' the 'oover! I see on the News that President Trump is becoming more agitated;  tariffs could be back on the menu for those countries that don't join him (the USA), in getting getting the the Strait of Hormuz open to shipping again.   The war to bring 'Peace to the Middle East' is proving to be trickier than when it began 17 days ago.    You'd think that, after Vietnam, the USA would know that 'Might is not Right'. 14.30    We've been lucky with the weather so far today;  after a few spits ...

15th March 2026 (Sunday)     10.15 .... It's overcast with drizzle,  a brisk Southwesterly wind;  not a pleasant morning, but it is slightly warmer it has been even, in the brisk wind.    It's 8.5C on the patio thermometer.   Actually, I don't think I'll be going much further that the patio thermometer today.   Unless 'sunny spells' come our way in the afternoon;  which might happen, as I'm feeling positive! I watched Ed Milliband being interviewed by 'Laura' this morning.   He (Ed Milliband) is one of those politicians that believe is putting all your eggs in one basket when it comes to 'green' options:    Renewable energy or else;  which is in theory ideal.    However if the basket drops off the handle, you end up with a lot of broken eggs... and a useless basket.   Green and renewable energy is  the right idea! ... but it has to be brought in sensibly.    The other...

14th March 2026 (Saturday)     10.45 .... Two blokes om motor bikes went Ferry Road;  and I thought it was cold.    The were well wrapped up in motorbike gear, but it isn't wart here m out this morning!.... especially on a motor bike.    Me?.... I've had a short walk, from the back door to the patio thermometer (and back).     There was a touch of frost last night;  down to - 0.9C    It was 6.8C when I was out there.    I very much doubt if I'll be going far today;  but I might make it as far as the car. and have a short run up to Chapel Green later.    It's far too cold to get 'The Buggy' out.   My word;  .The two motorbike have just gone down Ferry Road again... they must be admiring 'The Ferry'... I can understand that!   When I think about it;  only a year ago I'd have been out on the bike, enjoying the fresh air!     That reminds me .... I mus...

13th March 2026 (Friday)     11.00 .... It's a nice morning, but there is a frisky breeze, so there's wind chill;  it's cauld on the lugs, but there's a lot o' fresh air out there.    I've been up to Elie, and remembered to get the paper.    Because of the wind I didn't go down to the harbour;  it was windy and cold on the High Street. so it would be bitterly cold at the harbour.  Anyway I got a few 'today' photies so I'm a 'happy boy';  and     I might go out in the afternoon, if the wind moderates a bit.  15.00   I'm glad I went out in the morning;  because we've had sunny spells with squally showers in the afternoon.... and a noticeable drop in temperature.   A nice enough afternoon between the showers, but much colder.    The new parking  restrictions outside the shops is much better for shoppers.   No parking the car for the day to go for a walk along the Coa...

12th March 2026   (Thursday)     10.00 .... It  is not a bonnie morning here in KY9, but not as wild as I though it was when I first when out to the bucket.   When putting in my hearing aids I must have inadvertently pressed the volume  button.   The wind sounded like a howling gale.     All sounds  normal now on Ferry Road.   WE have a wet and windy morning, but there are slightly promising brighter bits in the sky.   However it's to be mostly windy and wet all day.    I'll do computer work.... and some ironing. 15.30  Although still windy, the rain had moved away, so  I ventured out to the car.... and had a run up to Chapel Green, to get a breath of fresh air.    Well, Chapel green had an abundance of that (fresh air);  there was a half gale blowing.   And it was cauld.    I had a short walk across The Green, took a few 'Today' photographs, a...

11th March 2026 (Wednesday)     09.45 .... It's a lovely, sunny with a frisky breeze, morning, after some overnight rain.   It's a chilly 'frisky breeze', so a wrap up well morning for walking the dog(s).   I feel frisky this morning, but the colder air might keep me indoors.   I'll probably go out in the car later.    Blustery showers might pass over now and again but I'm hoping they miss us.  I've come to terms with the old pier being obliterated;  I'm  saddened, but not surprised;  it looked like a 'rickle o' stanes' and that was exactly what they needed!   I have Part 3 of a programme about the native  New Zealand wildlife to watch on BBC2 this afternoon (15.30).   Part 3 is about the effect humans had on the native New Zealand wildlife.   Actually that brings back to me a memory of that first morning, having 'morning coffee outside om 'M's  (Margaret) patio.  ...

10th March 2026 (Tuesday)     10.15 .... It's bright and breezy morning, with the chance of  showers:  but I'm  feeling positive and will hang out a washing after this update.    I had planned on going to Methil to annoy Alice, but I feel this is going to be a 'rest day'.   I might do some computer work etc.... and go to Colinsburgh Filling Station to put fuel in the car in the afternoon.    Slight 'Flap on'  now;  I'm well ready for 'morning coffee'.   17.30     The weather has been kind today;   sunny with a freshening wind, therefore a good drying day.    That made me a 'happy boy'!   In the after noon I went to Colinsburgh, as planned, to put fuel in the car.   I went to Colinsburgh by way of 'The Store' in Anstruther:  I didn't really need much in the way of shopping. When I came out of 'The Store' I fancied a change of scenery, and came home ...

9th Match 2026 (Monday)     10.00 .... The sky is heavily overcast, with occasional  with spells of rain this morning.    We had a glimpse of the sun a few minutes ago, and the murkiness is forecast to break up and give us a brighter afternoon.... in fact the sky is brightening already.    I'm feeling 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' this morning, but haven't a 'plan for today'.    In the meantime I'll do some 'ousework before morrrrrrrning coffee. 13.15   We have a lovely day now;  dry with sunny spells!... and there's hardly any wind, so it's warm.   I  took the car up to Chapel Green and had a pleasant walk round the Green, after morning coffee.    I'm always surprised at the number of people, presumably on holiday, that come to Elie and Earlsferry at this time of year.    This used to be the 'quiet time' before the Easter Holidays.   Easter Weekend, this year, begins with...

8th March 2026 (Sunday)     10.45 .... We have a lovely sunny morning here, but there is a light chilly breeze;  however sheltered from that, it's warm.    It might even be warm enough to have my coffee outside.   Actually , my morning began with a migraine, so that will hamper my activities.    I've taken the pills,  and will have morning coffee after this update;  then probably have a catnap.    I see that President Trump has criticised our PM, because the UK did not take part in the US and Israeli attack, on Iran, from day one.    I wonder why I thought of both WWI and WWII?    As for Tony Blair's criticism, there's only one word to say ...."Iraq"!    Now off to have morning coffee. 19.45     I haven't been out anywhere today;  not even in the car.    The air was chilly,  but there was something else in it that hit the tubes; and had me using the 'bl...

Bright and sunny (so is the weather) .....

7th March 2026 (Saturday)     10.30 .... There was a good coating of rime on the car windscreen this morning, but that soon shifted once the sun got going;  and we now have beautiful sunny morning.    There is a cool breeze, but sheltered from said breeze it's warm.   I might have my 'morning coffee' on the patio,  I've had  a run to Chapel Green in the car to take a few 'today' photographs;  including some of the old pier site.   I then had a wander round 'The Green' to Maggie's Seat, where 'We' (Maggie and me) contemplated the pier situation.    Though 'both' shocked, and upset,  by this, "We" came to the conclusion that there's no point in 'humming and hawing' about what has happened;  that won't bring the 'rickle o' stanes' back.   "We've" decided to think of it as a beach tidying operation!    Must 'go'.... slight 'Flap On', I'm ready for morning coffee. 16....

6th March 2026 (Friday)     09.45 .... The overnight rain has moved away;  with "sunny intervals and a moderate breeze" forecast.    There's cooler air but we should have a nice afternoon.    This is going to definitely be a 'rest day' for me.    I had a great night's sleep and feel almost playful, but I need a day to just do 'lazy' things;  like work on the computer. Yesterday, when I was bring in the messages, Alistair (Graham)  Chairman of out History Society, came down the road, and told me that the demolition company, working on the wall at Chapel Green House, had used the 'rickle o' stanes' to use as some kind of protection for the sea wall:  the remains of the old pier were 'no more'!    They certainly demolished the 'rickle o' stanes'. Alistair and Alan (Provan) took photographs of what remains of the old pier:  and that isn't very much!  But there are still traces of where it was.   I...

5th March 2026 (Thursday)     09.45 ....  Yesterday was supposed to be a rest day, but I didn't even have my afternoon siesta.    Today I am going to Methil to visit Alice;  apart from driving this is going to be a rest day!    'Flap on'..... got to give 'Blob' his second breakfast. 19.30    I've had a busy day.   Went to Methil to visit Alice, had a cuppa and blether, ten went shopping to 'Home Bargains' and Sainsbury's, then  back to HQ for a 'picnic lunch'.   By this time the sky was clouding over, but it was warm.    We had an after lunch coffee before I set off for 'The Ferry'.   I was back at Ivy, and the messages away by by 01.50;  and ready for a cuppa.  I didn't fall asleep.   Since then I've been working of the computer and having a restful afternoon.    The rain that was threatening in the afternoon has arrived;   we have heavy rain just...

4th March 2026 (Wednesday)      10.00 .... I just saw another sign of Spring;  a family of Whooper swans migrating  North, to their breeding grounds in Iceland.    The weather? .... we have a mostly cloudy sky just now, but that is forecast to break up to give us a sunny afternoon.   I had a quiet day planned, but I've just had a phone call from the Skeith Health Centre and I've to go there in the afternoon;  so that's my 'action plan' for today. At this moment we have a very long low loader trying to manoeuvre at Ferry Corner.... it belongs to the demolition company working at Chapel Green House.   Busy place is Ferry Corner just now. I decided to Google GHQ MELF last night, to see what changes have taken place since I last looked at it six months or so ago.   Well they must have been using an old photograph six months ago,  because I hardly recognised GHQ MELF last night.  I know that they were going to s...

3rd March 2026 (Tuesday)     09.45 .... It's a beautiful morrrrning , sunny with a light SW breeze;  a bonnie drying day... although I could do with a bit more of a breeze, for the three jerseys I have on the line.   I have been a busy boy this morning;  not only have I done the washing, 'The Buggy' battery is being charged.   I think I deserve an early 'morning coffee'!... and catch up with the 'News'. 19.30    It has been a gorgeous sunny day here, and the village has been busy., with holiday makers.    This was once a quiet time of year, now  our villages are busy all year round.   I didn't get out to meet any of the visitors;  I've been busy around Ivy.    The woollen wash dried fine and the jerseys are now airing in front of a radiator.   'The Buggy' battery is fully charged, and ready for a sortie up to Elie sometime soon.   Depends on the weather. I 'Googled' Episkop...
