Light early morning frost .....
25th September 2024 (Wednesday) 08.15 .... We have a lovely sunny morning . but it 's
chilly, with a touch of frost of the car windscreen. There's a light WNW breeze just now but it is going to veer ENE by morrrrrrrrrrrrning coffee time. It is not going to be warm, but at least it will be dry.
'Blob' has had his breakfast.... and so have I; it's now time for a a mug o' strong coffee to get me fired up this cool morning. The garage didn't manage to pick up the car yesterday (they were busty shifting things about) so I'll phone Ryan, after 09.00, to see what the plan is for today.
09.30 The car is being picked up today: so I should have get it back on Friday. In the meantime I'm going to have that mug o' coffee, mentioned above.
11.00 Suddenly we have much activity on Ferry Road. The activity explains why we got those 'How to prepare for a Power Cut leaflets; they have a problem with a cable at the Ferry Road sub-station. I am now going to (eventually) have that mug o' coffee! It's a lovely morning, and warm in the sun.
16.45 Ian (Forgan) arrived to pick up the car; and I have never seen a car loaded onto a trailer so fast. I couldn't start the car, but Ian ran it backwards and it jump started immediately. He then set up the ramps and ran the car onto the trailer. As simple as that; when you know what you're doing! Anyway the car is off to get it's MOT (and oil change) and I'll have it back on Friday.
Ian my pal from Australia, is coming along about 17.30, and we're going to the talk about the Battle of Arnhem ... (17th to the 26th September 1944). Kirsty and Myra are also going, and I imagine there will be quite a few others that I will know, but probably won't be able to put names to faces. It's a 'maturity' thing!
22.00 I enjoyed the evening talk about Arnhem, but missed quite a lot of it because of my bad hearing; however the photographs that came with the talk helped, and being 'out and about' in the evening, mixing with other people was really good. I have Ian to thank for that; he has had me walking places I thought I wouldn't walk again! He is starting the long journey home tomorrow: I am going along to see him set off at 09.00. I think he is spending tomorrow night in Edinburgh, and leaves Scotland on Thursday. I'm hoping that some of his 'get up and go' has rubbed off on me! I'll miss him.
After seeing Ian off I'll get ready to go out for lunch at 'The Rockies' in Ainster. It's a wee while sinceI've been there , but the food has always been excellent.... especially the Fish n' Chips!
It's also a good place for the camera! Mind you the weather forecast isn't that good for 'ra morra': it's going to be windy (NE) with a good chance of precipitation!
