Ferry Road .... the beginning of an 11,000 mile journey. |
clouds in from the North Sea, with spells of light rain now and again. At times the clouds are well broken up, and promising 'sunny spells'; we could have a bright(ish) and breezy afternoon. I've had breakfast and will now have a mug o' coffee make me feel more energetic. The damp weather is making me feel 'hippit'.10.30 Ian set off for Edinburgh at about 09.30 where he will hand back the hired car stay in the City for the night then set off for home tomorrow. I wandered along to 'The Stables' to see him set off and say "Cheerio". He had some food that he wanted me to have so drove me home to Ivy before setting off, up Ferry Road, on a journey of 11.000 miles or so. It was apt that he should leave Elie and Earlsferry via Ferry Road, because there's something aboot "The Royal Burgh" that gets into your blood! Both Elie and Earlsferry are special places, but it's the history of 'The Ferry' that does it. Anyway, Ian is on his way home to Australia. I'm going to miss his companionship, his interesting memories of 'The Ferry' (sometimes spelt 'Ferrie' in Kinneuchar Kirk records) and his 'we can do this ' attitude.

Kirsty - Rockies Car Park. |
21.00 'The Team' s went to The Rockies for our monthly lunch out. George was our taxi driver and I enjoyed the run to Ainster, a big change of scenery from walking up to the 19th. There was a gale o' wind so we didn't hang about in the Car Park. The Dining Room was quiet, but the service (by a cheery waitress) was quick with a good choice on the menu...and it was excellent, as we soon found out. The Rockies Dining Room is a great place for watching seabirds on a windy day.. and it was windy today! I watched a Cormorant, wings flapping, his beak pointing NE... and actually moving SW.
22.30 It has been a bit breezy today, but at least it was dry.... and sunny. The wind is going to be quieter, but still from the North so cool on the lugs. I've was using my 'Puffin' woollie hat today; a sure sign that it was cold! I'm going to hang around Ivy tomorrow until I get a phone call telling me that the car is ready to be picked up. Iain is coming down from Auchnagatt but won't arrive until after 17.00, so I'm hoping for an early enough phone call so that I can get to Elie to catch a bus.
