Bright and breezy .....
3rd September 2024 (Tuesday) 08.15 .... It's a beautiful morning.... sunny with a cool Westerly
breeze. It will feel 'cauld roond the lugs' after I have my haircut at 09.30.... I'm hoping the air will be warmer by then! Anyway the miserable weather we had yesterday has gone, and we can enjoy the sunshine.... and take a few photographs! I'll undercoat the window .... and hopefully finish it tomorrow!21.00 Between undercoating the window and getting the gloss sorted for tomorrow, I've had an enjoyable and satisfying day. And I watched the Paralympics in between, so it has been relaxing. I mentioned getting the gloss sorted for tomorrow, but the forecast is 'light showers' for KY9. The gloss takes longer to dry. The light showers might be around, but not over us so there's a slight chance I might get the window glossed; depends on how the weather looks.
Although there has been a chilly breeze my lugs haven't been cauld! Oh I've had my haircut; but haven't had my woollie hat off since I left Lorraine's! Not outside anyway!
Most of you will know that I am continually researching Maggie's family tree.... and have reached the point where of using the Kirk Records .... in this case Kinneuchar Kirk Session records. Kirk records means a lot of boring reading (mostly), because you rely mostly on the person you are researching having either committed a 'naughtiness'.... or the kirk Session suspects they have committed a 'naughtiness'. In most cases 'naughtiness' means 'pre nuptial fornication'. Anyway Maggie's Great Grandad x6(?) was suspected of this misdemeanour because his wife looked pregnant not long after they were married. 'The Ferry' Elder told his wife that they would have to appear before the Session to explain why this was so. (Although the family home was in the 'Ferrie', William worked in Newcastle (1751) and couldn't attend on the date proposed). Anyway, it all turned out well in the end because the baby was born at the right time after the wedding! But what I now need to find out is what did William do in Newcastle? Kirk Session records are no use for finding out what people did for 'work'! Good for scandal but not much else. I assume he travelled to Newcastle by boat.
22.30 I'm sure we have the 'Friendship Lunch' in the Kirk Hall tomorrow; restarting after the summer break.. I intend going, but have been known to forget! It will be good catching up with all my Friendship Lunch 'friends'.
