.... this has been one busy, but

extremely enjoyable, weekend at Emily and John’s wedding is Somerset. ‘JB’ drove us there, and back, was an usher
on the day.... so he was really busy the whole weekend. You
could see that ‘JB’ works with the public, and enjoyed his day mixing with
everyone. I’m sure all the girls/ladies
fell ‘in love’ with him.
We
arrived in Stocklinch in time for the rehearsal on Friday, after which Janice
Michael and I went to the neighbouring village of Barrington where we were
booked into the local hotel, and pub, the Barrington Boar,

to stay for the one
night. The night of the wedding we spent
at Brympton House, the venue for the wedding reception etc.
We
had been worried about the weather forecast which threatened the Somerset area
with rain; it did rain overnight on
Friday, but was clearing away by early Saturday morning and the Wedding Day
weather was perfect.... with rain forecast to return on the Saturday
evening. Which it did.... but by then
it didn’t bother anyone.
The
legal part of wedding ceremony, by the local Vicar The Rev G Wade, took place in
the Stocklinch Church; with ‘A Blessing’
ceremony in the old Ottersley Church, some

500 yards up the hill.
At one time there were two small country villages, each with its own church.
Ottersley Church was de-consecrated (I
think that’s the ‘word’) a number of years ago, and is now looked after by The
Churches Conservation Trust. The
service (in St Mary Magdalene – the bottom Church) was beautiful, and readings, by Michael, David and Nikki, added
the personal family touch to the occasion.
It was a real family/village wedding!
After
the ‘legal’ ceremony the guests bumbled their way up to St Mary’s Church, for

the blessing....and the photographs. I
got a lift up in Andrews Land Rover... but I walked down: to the local micro brewery where a marquee
had been set up (in case of inclement weather) where we had a Prosecco afternoon
reception, with food prepared by the local girls, sausage rolls, cake etc ....
and a drop of the local brew. Very
tasty it all was too! And so was the
beer!
At
15.00 Emily and John set off for Brympton in the Bentley, followed by the rest

wedding party in another Bentley and the Land Rover; all vintage vehicles. The guests who didn’t want to drive,
travelled to Brympton by vintage bus.... which is what we did; giving ‘JB’ a break from driving.
By
the time we got to Yeovil (Brympton House is on the edge of Yeovil) the bus was
the leader of a long line of vehicle:
they were all set free when we stopped to negotiate a big roundabout.
The
driveway down to Brympton is tree lined, and not ‘iggzactly’ made for double
decked buses. With all the low branches
we had to take it easy, but were all safely delivered to the main gateway to
the house. More about Brympton, and the wedding, tomorrow.
