Nice morning ....

30th June 2025 (Monday)    08.30 .... There's a layer of cloud just now, but the sun should shift that (like it did yesterday) to give us the KY9 forecast of "sunny intervals with a moderate SW breeze".   Oh... and the temperature is 19.2C so we could have a hot afternoon.     My morning began with a migraine (weather) which is a bit of a bummer, but I've taken the pills and now feel 'almost frisky'.   I can 'feel' frisky .... but can't 'do' frisky.   I do a 'frisky hirple' now and again.    The cloud is starting to evaporate, and blue bits beginning to brighten our morning.   It's going to be a warm day.   And good drying one! 21.00    Although I found it uncomfortably hot (and humid) (24.3C) this afternoon on the patio, it was much warmer down south... and even hotter around the Mediterranean.    However by that time I'd been to Alice's, and we'd done the shopping and taken in ple...

29th June 2025 (Sunday)    09.30 .... There's a bank light cloud drifted in from the West, and this The seat at the 17th Green. has taken the heat out of the sun we had earlier.   At the moment it's nice, but not as warm as expected, because of the cloud.   The forecast for KY9 is "sunny, with a moderate breeze (SW)" so, hopefully, the sun will burn off the cloud and give us comfortably warm day.   Pollen and UV levels are high (as it was yesterday) so an anti hay fever pill, and sun cream is recommended.    15.15    The cloud evaporated rapidly once the sun got going and we now have a lovely, warm afternoon.   A wee bit too warm for me being outside;  but perfect for drying the jerseys I washed this morning.  I had a reasonably busy morning in the garden trying to get rid of some of the weeds (mostly the nettles that Maggie wanted for Tortoiseshell butterflies laying their eggs on.   I've n...

28th June 2025 (Saturday)    08.30 .... It's overcast, with light drizzle jut now, but the cloud is starting to break up, to give KY9 a 'bright and breezy' day:  a good drying day, which is what I need with a washing going through the machine.   I'm feeling 'brighter and breezier' this morning.... might even have a walk up to the seat at the 17th green later. 21.45  We'e had an absolutely gorgeous sunny and warm day..... but slightly breezier than I'd have liked.   Having said that, even when out in the open it wasn't cold, especially in the afternoon after the breeze had calmed down. The golf course was busy today with a klaxon start at 10.30 , and groups starting from the 18 tees tee.   It was a lovely morning, and, having been told about the competition by Marcia, I went up to the seat at the 17th green to catch some of the action.   I thought about getting the bike out and going up to the seat at the 6th tee but it is wide...

27th June 2025 (Friday)    08.15 .... We have a nice, quiet start to Friday;  being grey and damp its Largo Law from the NW not a bonnie morning, but I didn't water the tubs yesterday so I need the 'light rain' that's forecast for today.  (The light rain is to be with us, intermittently, for most of today).   Sunny spells aren't mentioned, but you never know;  we might get lucky.    I'm going to visit Alice, and  this is perfect shopping weather.  Anyway, Alice is bound to need annoying. 18.45   It has been a grey and 'mauchless' day, with drizzle/light rain now and again.... and no sunny spells!    But the Western sky is brightening up! Alice and I had a small, but successful shopping session;  with an enjoyable and tasty lunch afterwards at the Alice HQ.   I decided to go Colinsburgh for fuel on the way to Methil, and got lucky;  the forecourt was empty.   This was a problem!...

26th June 2025 (Thursday)    08.15 .... We have a misty morning after a some overnight rain;  There's never a bus when you need one! definitely not a not a good drying day at the moment!   But it could be a good drying afternoon;  because the sun is going to burn orf the mist and stuff, to give us a 'sunny intervals' afternoon.   At the moment its warm and humid, with only a light breeze, but the wind will freshen by the afternoon. 10.00    The cloud is slowly breaking up though, but it was raining (light) when I went to the 'paper shop'.... and it's muggy.   I didn't bother visiting the harbour,  because of the rain. I am going to morning coffee after this update.   Leven Golfing Society is the venue for this months lunch outing for 'The Team';  (it's a long time since I last visited LGS).... we're setting off at 12.15.   19.45   As forecast we have had a nice, sunny and warm day after t...

Nice fresh morning ....

25th June 2025 (Wednesday)    08.30 .... We have a lovely, fresh morning.... "sunny intervals with a moderate breeze" being today's forecast for KY9.   I haven't an 'action plan' for today but, .... I might clean the windows in the afternoon.  Right now it's breakfast time.  12.00    I decided to go for the paper, go down to the harbour  then home by way of Balbuthie and Kinneuchar.   It's a lovely day... and warm.   I was ready for a 'cold snap', but that never happened.  I was glad to get home and cool orf.   I got my usual batch of photographs to 'play' with in the evening;  I've a funny feeling I will fall asleep in the afternoon.  19.00    The sky has clouded over but most of today has been sunny ....and warm;  in fact it was humid (mauchless) in the afternoon.   I've had a reasonably active day;  with a good siesta in the afternoon.  Late in the afternoon I...

Damp morning ....

24th June 2025 (Tuesday)    08.30 .... After the cold wind we had yesterday, it's nice to have a quiet, albeit misty and damp, and warmer morning.    The light rain/mist is going to melt away by morning coffee time, the sky should break up to give us brighter, and a slightly breezier (and brighter) afternoon.  It's not going to be as windy as it was yesterday so it will feel warmer.   This is going to be a completely lazy, 'play day' for me;  the auld muscles need a rest.   I might take the scooter out in the afternoon.    15.00    I'm having another cuppa while I type this update.   Janet, my sister, phoned a couple of hours ago to tell me that Derek (my younger, painter and decorator, brother) had collapsed and died this morning.  This shocking, and devastating, 'News', knocked me for six.   I promptly had a mug of sweet tea to help me come to some kind of terms with this shock.  ...

23rd June 2025 (Monday)     08.45 ....  It's a breezy morning;.... in fact 'strong winds' are forecast Stirling Castle ... 2012. for the middle of the day, and there's noticeable drop in temperature.  The question is: is the end of last winter or the beginning of next?   Hopefully it's a temporary 'blip' until our long warm summer really gets going.  It's certainly much cooler this morning;  and I was thinking of going out on the bike for some exercise!    Change of 'plan'.   Kettle 'on'. 21.30    For some unknown reason I've been in a 'housekeeping mood.   Right enough, since I had that bug  I've never really been in the mood to do very much 'ousework;  just the basic run roond wi' the 'oover.   Didn't bother flicking things wi' the feather duster.   The feather duster is one of my favourite jobs;  it's easy, and I kid myself on that I've done some dustin'.  ...

Lovely, fresh morning ....

22nd June 2025 (Sunday)    08.00 .... We have bonnie, fresh morning;   the mugginess of the past few days, having been cleared away by thunderstorms that moved across the NE of England and over the North Sea.   We didn't get any of the thunder (is we did I didn't hear it), but the storms passed close to Crail.    Anyway, we now have a lovely fresh morning.   There's a 'low' chance of light rain showers in the afternoon;  that means we could have interesting clouds.  20.00    The  'light rain' showers arrived sooner than expected... and the one I drove through in the morning on my way to Methil was certainly not 'light'.   Apart from the showers, we've had a lovely sunny day;  and the breeze kept it cool.  I arrived at Methil just as Alice put the kettle 'on'.   We had a cuppa and came up with a 'plan' for the shopping.   Alice needed to go to B & M's, so we did most of...

Low cloud and misty....

Image
21st June 2025 (Saturday)     09.00 .... It's a low cloud and misty start to the 'Longest Day', with the chance 'light showers' in the afternoon.   That means we should have an interesting sky.   This change in the weather explains why I woke up to a migraine!    In spite of the migraine I'm feeling 'brighter eyed and bushier tailed' this morrrrrrrrrrning.... and the muscles aren't as stiff.   (I've just had a long hot shower to ease them off).   Anyway ... enjoy the longest day of the year;  it's comfortably warm (16.5C just now) with a light SE breeze. 13.15   It's a nice sunny day now;  at 23.2C it's too hot for me staying outside working in the garden.    That said I spent most of the morning cat napping, in front of the TV, trying to shake off the migraine.   I've taken another couple o' pills so should feel brighter again soon.... but won't be going out until the heat of the a...

20th June 2025 (Friday)     08.45 .... So much for getting up, and going out early;  I didn't wake up until 07.35.  Anyway, after a hot shower to ease aching muscles, I'm nearly vertical and ready for breakfast and a cuppa.   It's a lovely sunny morning, and already 16.9C, so it could hot in the afternoon.   Pollen levels are 'Very High' and could be annoying for hay fever sufferers   I haven't a 'plan' but might scoot 'roond The Ferry' later. 11.30   I've been out on the scooter... up to Chapel Green, but not actually on 'the Green'.  It can be done but I'll do that when I'm feeling 'brave'.    It's a braw feeling bumbling along at walking pace.... very relaxing.    The faster speed is only 8m.p.h. but, strangely enough, not as relaxing.   If I decide to go through Elie Estate, (and any longer runs) I'll do them on the bike.... that way I don't have to worry to much about holding up tra...

19th June 2025 (Thursday)     08.00 .... We have a nice morning;  "sunny intervals with a moderate breeze" is the weather forecast so it should be warm later. The breeze is from the South and is backing to the SE later.   It's a should be a bonnie day for doing 'play' stuff .... warm, but not oppressively hot;  as it's going to be down in 'Sunny Sussex'.    20.00    It has been a beautiful, sunny and warm (23.9C) day.   And good drying day, so I did a washing before I went along to Methil to join Alice and Izzy for a trip to 'Hill of Tarvit' a National trust property not far from Cupar.   Luckily Izzy checked before we set off, and found out that 'Hill of Tarvit' it was 'Closed' today;  so it was Plan 'B';  Izzy would drop  us (Alice and me) at Falkland Palace, while she went to an Auction House to look at some furniture. Falkland Palace gardens is always a relaxing place(we'd both 'done' the Pala...

18th June 2025 (Wednesday)    08.45 .... It's a bonnie morning but cooler than I expected it to be, because there's a layer of thin cloud just now.   That said we're unlikely to get the extreme heat that 'Sunny Sussex' and the the south is going to have.   I slept in this morning, but I have been working lately:  I had a long hot shower this morning to ease off stiff muscles;  and I'm feeling much better. Myra phoned to remind me that it's the Colinsburgh Friendship Lunch today, and that she'd pick me up at 12.20 .... that takes care of 'lunch'. 11.30   The work of the past few days has caught up with me;  today is going to be a rest day.   And probably tomorrow.  I've been  trying to pace myself when doing things,  but get 'carried away' and forget that the muscles are .... er ...slightly older.   A couple of 'lazy' rest days.    The scooter is a brilliant way of getting around, but our...

17th June 2025 (Tuesday)    09.00 .... "Sunny intervals with a fresh breeze, .... and a low chance of light showers" is our weather forecast today.   Light showers means we should have an 'interesting' sky.   I'm going to do a washing, take a trip up to Elie to hand in my prescription and get a paper.   This is going to be a lazy, relaxing, day:  actually, I'm feeling "playful, verging on frisky", at the moment. 21.00    This has been an eventful day!   I've been 'roond The Ferry' twice on the Mobility Scooter.  It's marvellous being able to 'walk' again;  albeit sitting down, and moving at walking pace.   Or even slower.      The two pieces of ramp were delivered at 13.46.  They do the job perfectly, the only problem is the water running down Ferry Road:  luckily it's clean water and not sewage because I get it on my hands when putting the ramp in place.   I set up t...

16th June 2025 (Monday)    08.30 .... We have 'bright and sunny' morning .... a good day for 'working'.  I'm feeling playful,  but I have a wee bit of weeding to do first.  The weather forecast is 'good' for the most of this week;  and hot by next weekend.    I need a cuppa. 19.20    I've had a busy day;  the garden work is finished, ordered a heavy duty kerb ramp and (metre wide) that will save me doing a 90 degree turn onto the pavement.   The 90 turn onto the pavement can be done, but I haven't mastered the speed control trigger thing for really slow , manoeuvring speeds.   The trigger has to be 'fluttered' and my hands don't do 'fluttering' very well.   I'm going to keep practising. 21.30    I had a wander down to Ferry Corner;  actually I had two walks to Ferry Corner .... the camera didn't have a card in it the first time.   I'm feeling mair 'normal' and wanted a few phot...

15th June 2025 (Sunday)    08.30 .... The sky is rapidly clearing to "sunny intervals with a moderate breeze", after yesterdays spell of much needed, rain, .... and the air is fresher after the rain.    We have a lovely morning, and I am feeling almost playful:  not quite 100% yet, but definitely on the mend.   And, looking forward to having breakfast. 18.40   I've had a good day in the garden;  jobs that Iain and I meant to do before the scooter was delivered;  but we ended up with a the 'bug'.   Anyway, I think the only thing I need now is a kerb ramp.  That said the delivery bloke drove it (the scooter) in straight off the pavement and round to the patio: but I'm  not as skilled as he is, so it will be easier for me to get on to the road with a kerb ramp.   I'll see what Iain says when he gets back from Dorset.  I'm not in a great hurry to admit to having to use a Mobility Scooter.... but I'm l...

14th June 2025 (Saturday)    08.45 .... I certainly won't have to water the tubs today:  we have a grey, wet start to Saturday.   'Light rain showers with a moderate breeze' is the weather forecast for KY9 today... and we should have sunny spells between the showers.    At the moment the sky is totally overcast with we have steady rain;  just what the countryside is badly needing.  I'm feeling much better this morning, and looking forward to going to Methil to 'annoy' Alice.    The sky is brightening already! 17.00    The roads were busy as this morning:  and there was a lot of water lying about after the rain last night. a lot of water on the roads this morning.   It was only light rain when I set off from 'The Ferry':  by the time I reached Upper Largo I was one of a line, of carefully driving vehicles travelling through a deluge.   And that's how it was until I reached Methil.   ...

13th June 2025 (Friday)    We have a 'bright, sunny and warm' morning, with a light Easterly breeze (it's going to veer to the Westerly direction later) coming from warmer climes, hence the warmth.   It's not the best of breathing airs, but, hey ho.... it reminds me of Cyprus, and the happy days of National Service.   Long may this continue. Unfortunately.... the heat is to bring thunderstorms;  working their way up from the South over the next couple of days. 18.30    The mobility scooter was delivered today.   The boys let me see the bits and pieces , and had me reversing and playing around on the patio.  It was a tight fit coming in the front gate but that was because I'd left my car in the wrong place.    I'll take the gate off before I venture forth on it myself.   The roads were too busy in the afternoon anyway (and I wasn't feeling brave).   It will probably be Sunday before I go out on it ...
