Grey and damp .....

Image
5th January 2025 (Sunday)    09.15 .... The first thought I had when I went out to feed 'Blob' was   "it's dismal looking this morning".   And it still is.    The Fife Weather cams are all showing grey, though the Lochgelly one has a covering now on the roofs of the nearby houses.   There's a Yellow Warning for snow and ice, active from 06.00 this morning through to 09.00 tomorrow morning.... so not the most cheerful kind of morning; but, let's be positive .... it's only 73 days until the Spring Solstice (March 20th at 05.01)!   Happy boy!   11.15    I set off to have a wander up to the Pony Field but is began to rain so I stopped at the Ferry Road phone box, took a few photos to let you see the weather we have today, then wandered back to Ivy ... and the kettle switch!   The sky is showing slightly better signs so I might have ago for the beach after lunch.   We're lucky with the weathe...

4th January 2024 (Saturday)    09.15 .... The car windscreens is clear, the washing I left out Shona huggin' a huge Kilbrackmont tree! overnight is flapping about in the breeze, and my breathing easier.   The sky is mostly cloudy just now, but our weather forecast for today is "sunny intervals with a gentle breeze".    There's a Yellow Warning for snow active from midnight tonight through to midday on Monday;  though I imagine it will more likely be sleet, or rain,  for us.   'Sunny Sussex' and most of the South of England is covered by an Amber Warning for snow today, so most of the UK is likely to see snow at some point over the next few days. 20.00    Although not the best of drying days the washing was nearly dry by the end of the afternoon.   Earlier in the afternoon I'd gone to Methil to annoy Alice.  We had a cuppa before going shopping.  We went to Sainsbury's they have 'everything' and are trying ...

Bonnie, frosty morning .....

3rd January 2025 (Friday)    09.00 .... It's a lovely morning, but frosty,  and the pavements are Icy pavement. slippery!    Be careful.   I'll go for a short walk once the sun has warmed the air up and the pavements safe to walk on.   At the moment the only exercise I'm thinking about is pressing the kettle button!   'Sunny with a moderate breeze' is our weather for today,..... and cold.    22..00    Although cold it has been a bonnie day;  I don't think the frost lifted in the shade;  but it was reasonably warm in the sun with only a light breeze.   There was a bonnie late afternoon light about so I had fun with the camera. I went for a 'walk' up to th e golf course, then feeling good I made my way up to the Pony field to have a look at the work being done around the third tee area.   It wasn't easy going down to the temporary Ladies third tee but I got there.   A lot of...

2nd January 2025 (Thursday)    09.45 .... It's a 'play day'!    We have a beautiful sunny morning:  actually, it's that long since we had a morning like this I've almost forgotten what to do on sunny mornings!    The auld ... er ... mature bones are stirring, and want to do stuff.   I'll drag 'dem bones' down to the beach (or up to the seat at the 17th green) once the sun is high in the sky.... and warm on the delicate skin.   Do I need sun cream?   I don't think so;  but I do need food.   We are a happy, playful heap o'  bones this morning!.... once they all click into place I'll be ready to 'go'! 12.00    That's it;  the decorations are down .... the Festive Season is done  and .... not quite dusted, but I'm thinking about it!      The golf course is 'Closed' because of the frost, so there wisnae any point in going up to the seat at the 17th;  the golfing acti...

Windy, wet, and cauld....

1st January 2025 (Wednesday)     10.00 .... I'll begin by wishing all my blog reading friends a  "Happy and Healthy New year".   2025 has started wet and windy, in fact it's rather miserable looking, but the rain should begin to move away by 11.00 ... my morning coffee time!   'Blob' and his 'Hedge Sparrow' pal have been fed;  I can now have my breakfast.    I saw the New Year in with a glass of 'Jura' and a piece of Marcia's Christmas cake... a perfect start to 2025.  The result of my late night/ early morning? .... I slept 'in'!  Actually when I see the weather I kind of wish I'd slept in for another three hours!    Today's 'plan? .... it all depends on the weather:  but I won't be doing a washing!    This 'wild weather' is the start of a cold spell.... during which we might experience 'wintry precipitation'.   Exciting stuff.   14.30    The rain has stopped, b...
