13th  October 2025 (Monday)     Israeli Living Hostages Homecoming Day. 09.30 ....It's a quiet misty morning, with the sun trying hard to burn back the mist;  we should get 'sunny spells' later.    The scenes of jubilation from Israel, as the remaining live hostages were brought home,  were shared by  people all around the civilised world today:  and I'm sure i wasn't the only one with a tear in the eye at the time.    President Trump might be 'different' as far as American President's go;  but he, got the job done.  History will remember him for that.   No matter how long the journey it begins with the first step.... and this is a big step:  One that will hopefully lead to peace in the Middle East.   There's a lot of hard work to be done, by a lot of brave people, to bring a lasting Peace to the Middle East;  but they can do it.   15.15    Unfortunately the sun never...

1 2th October 2025 (Sunday)     09.45 ....  I got 'up' early this morning, ready to hit the road running;  but that rapidly changed when I went outside, and discovered it was misty, damp and cold.    It's actually a  quiet morning with only a light breeze, but,....  until the sun breaks through, and the temperature rises, I'm confined to the house.  Or maybe the car.    I've done some 'ooverin' and dustin', and will strip the single bed after morning coffee.   I need a good drying day before doing ;  and that ain't today.   Ferry Road has been busy with traffic, but I doubt if it's families making for the beach!   I don't think I'll do down to the harbour today!   20.30    We ended up with a nice day in between the early morning fog, and the late afternoon, when the fog rolled in again.    With the fog being thick in the morning I decided to go to the Store to do...

11th October 2025 (Saturday)     11.30 ..... The sun has burnt off some early morning cloud, and  we now have a lovely sunny day, albeit with a cool breeze.    I've been out in the car to the harbour then home by Balbuthie ans Kinneuchar.    I had planned on stopping in Elie to buy a paper but there was a lot of cars manoeuvring around  so I skipped the paper and went to the harbour.   Going by the number of vehicles all over the place, the villages are busy.    Even the harbour had vehicles manoeuvring (I'm likin' the word) 'manoeuvring') so I didn't linger too long there.   Anyway it was cold on the lugs.   The countryside is beginning to look really autumnal now and I'm thinkin' a run up to Balcarres might be my next venture.   It's morning coffee time! 20.00   It has been a lovely day, but the breeze was too chilly for me going out on 'The Buggy'.   I tidied the car bo...

10th October 2025 (Friday)     10.00 .... It's 'bright and breezy morning, and I have taken  advantage of that by doing a woollen wash (jerseys).    The car is being delivered late morning or early afternoon, so I should be able to  so the run 'roond the Ferry' that ended so disastrously on on Monday morning.   I think I deserve a cup o' coffee!    19.45    The car is 'in Residence' on Ferry Road so I'm a happy boy.   It's brilliant being 'trapped' in The Royal Burgh', but I have to get out to other places such as The Gateway to The Royal Burgh (Elie) now and again.    Ian and Kathryn brought it (the car) back for me in the middle of the afternoon. It has been a nice sunny day, albeit with a frisky breeze in the morning, but it calmed down in the afternoon.   The jerseys I washed have been ironed and are ready to put away.   Apart from doing the woollens, and some work in the kitchen...

9th October 2025 (Thursday)  .....  Gaza Peace deal. 12.00    This morning's 'News' has pictures of the Israelis  celebrating in the streets of Some of the Israeli hostages. Israel;  and Palestinians  celebrating in Gaza this morning.   Sadly the Palestinians don't actually have streets to dance in. but they are making the best of what they've got!   In other words, both Israelis and Palestinians are celebrating the' Peace Deal', that was thrashed out in Egypt last night.   I hope it leads to  permanent Peace in the Middle East;  and, in a decent World, the poison of hatred, spread by evil doers in the background, consigned to history..   It's a breezy morning, with a lot of clouds about, but the clouds are forecast to move away to be replaced with sunshine.   I have been reasonably busy, with a washing on the line.   I had been thinking of taking 'The Buggy' out but the wind ...

8th October 2025 (Wednesday)     09.45 .... When I was taking photies o' the moon last night, the Rotten Row - Williamsburgh. last thing I expected was rain this morning!   I had sunny spells in mind.    However, the forecast for KY9 today is "sunny intervals with a moderate SW breeze".   The rain is already moving away, with the big blue patches where cloud used to be.   Bring on he sunny intervals.    Mind you, I'm not complaining because we had rain;  it took care of the floo'er tubs.   My morning started with a migraine so I haven't been out frolicking about yet;  but will be after I have morning coffee. 19.30   The light rain cleared away and we ended up with long sunny spells... and a fresh breeze, which made it chillier than I thought it would be.   By this time i was feeling playful and decided to do my Rotten Row walk backwards;  no that makes it look like I'm going to...

7th October 2025 (Tuesday)      2nd Anniversary of October 7th attack on Israel. 10.00    It's a drab start to the morning... heavily overcast, and cooler than yesterday.   I don't have a 'plan' for today;  but I cancelled my blood test appointment at the Surgery, and have a new one on the 16th, by which time I should he well clear of the cold.  The car will be picked up sometime today, and taken to the garage;  I'll be glad when that is done.   I'll have morning coffee, while watching the News. 19.00    Ian came to uplift the car at 10.45 so I'll be able to sleep tonight without worrying about it.   I didn't particularly like where I'd parked it last night.    I do needless worrying on a grand scale. The sky gradually cleared throughout the day;  and we now look like having clear night.   The 'Harvest Moon'  Sarah (Keith-Lucas the weather lady) said it will be the bigges...

6th October 2025 (Monday)     12.45 .... I've had an eventful morrrrrrning;  although  I haven't actually done anything useful, but, because I'm feeling a bit better I decided to have a run 'roond the Ferry' in the car.   And that was the start of my eventful morning.  I set off from Ivy (without my hearing aids) turned right and went uo the High Street.    As I was passing Marci'as she waved me down to tell me there was smoke coming for the back wheel.    I went back into the car, pumped the brake made sure the hand brake was off and set off again.   I couldn't stay where I was because I was blocking the High Street).    I got to the top of the High Street, turned right on to Links Road when workmen in Donaldson's van waved me down, to tell me much the same as Marcia  had.... only this time the tyre was flat.    There are good people all around us when you need them.   The Donaldson...

5th October 2025 (Sunday)      10.00 .... The wind is much quieter this mornin;;  it's peaceful compared to the past 48 hours..    The shower towels are on the line so I'm 'happy'.    The cold (it's a 'man' cold) is running it's course.... including.   I haven't been anywhere, but might go for a run in the car later in the afternoon;  after I've done some more 'ousework.... and made an Eve's Pudding.   I'll weigh and peel the apples after this update. 19.45     This has been a quiet day for me  spent most of the time pottering about inside Ivy.    It has been a nice enough day as far as the weather went, but too cold for me to venture further than the clothes lines.  It was a good drying day and the towels dried perfectly.    Ans I had a bit of ironing to do so I haven't been totally idle. Time certainly flies;  as I found out from the photograph of the Dow Salver (Crail) ...

4th October 2025 (Saturday)     12.45 .... 'JB' set off for 'Sunny Sussex' at 11.45.   The weather is good for driving and should improve as he travels South.    The power cut we had last night only lasted for 45 minutes;  so we got of lightly compared to other parts of Scotland.   'JB' had a walk to the beach before he left, which is why I have some 'today' photographs to 'play with. It was a windy old night, but the wind moderated about and it was quiet by breakfast time (07.30). I was surprised to find that there's still a few apples attached to the tree.   I saved some of the ones that fell overnight, and  might make an Eve's Pudding in the afternoon. 19.45   I intended having Lazy day;  bit I ended up doing housework.   I'm going to make the Eve's Pudding tomorrow[  the plan is to take it easy and shake off this cold.   Im fact a 'JT' at bedtime is part of that 'plan'. 3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.

2nd October 2025 (Thursday)     09.15 .... The sky is overcast, but it's dry with only a light breeze.... and it's warm.    The wind is going to freshen and we're to have 'heavy rain later.   I'm choked up with, what I think, is a 'common cold',  so won't be going further than the car for the next couple of days. 18.00    It has been a a quiet day... a good 'rest day'.   That said we decided to go for a breath of fresh air in the afternoon, and went to Pittenweem Braes, where 'JB'  went down to the Tidal Swimming pool and took a few photographs;  some of which I have used today.   It has been mostly a grey day, though we did have a couple of short 'sunny spells' in the middle of the day. 21.00    'JB' made a really tasty stir fried chicken and vegetables, with rice for dinner tonight;   I enjoyed that.   I should try making that healthy sort of food more often.    Alic...

1st October 2025 (Wednesday)      09.30 .... It's a dreich morning, but the rain is going to move  away  by mid afternoon.     I'm hoping for sunny spells but I they aren't mentioned in the forecast.    I have loads of photographs to 'play' with so no worries there.   'JB' is still 'resting', I am feeling brighter this morning;  not quite 'frolicsome'  but getting that way.   I've taxed the car so we can pick it up sometime today. 21.30    The frolicsome feeling didn't last.   'JB' took me to 'Mercury Motors' get the car, which I taxed and insured  yesterday.   However since then I have come down with some kind of 'bug';  I think it's 24 hour thing.   I'm hoping 'JB' doesn't catch it.   He travels home (Sunny Sussex) on Saturday.   'JB' went to the beach with the camera this afternoon  so I have plenty photographs to 'play' with for...

30th September 2025 (Tuesday)      08.45  .... It's quiet kind of morning.   The sky mostly cloudy just now, but there are breaks here and there, so we could get a sunny spells later.   There's only a light breeze so no wind chill.   actually it could be warm in the afternoon. We're thinking of going to Falkland Hill because the weather becomes a bit more mixed after today.    21.30    We didn't go to Falkland Hill after all;   it was a bit misty for taking telephoto photies from the Car Park which is what I wanted to do.   Anyway Falkland Hill will still be there next year (it maybe a millimetre shorter) so we'll get it another day! Instead of the Hill 'JB' went round the beach and rocks with the Canon camera while I went up to Chapel Green, on 'The Buggy' with the Olympus.   Between us we got a  load of photies to 'play' with tomorrow.   "Light rain with a moderate breez...

29th September 2025 (Monday)     14.00 ....   'JB' arrived just after 09.00:  and we have been Oyster Catchers and Redshank. busy since then.   the first thing we did was catch up with the 'News' from down south' and First was had a cuppa while  catching  up with the 'down south'  news.   After thaat we went to 'The Store' to so a a shopping, something I wasn't able to do over the weekend because i didn't have the car.  The Store chill cabinets are all out of service so we didn't get  all the shopping I'd have liked;  but I'll go to Sainsbury's when I have the car.   I can't annoy Alice.... because she has the 'flu.   It could be the 'new COVID that's around just now.   Anyway Alice is out of bounds for a while. The weather has turned cloudy over the past hour or so;  if I'm lucky I won't have to water the floo'er tubs this evening. Curlew. 22.30   Being that I c...

28th September 2025 (Sunday)     10.30 ....  we have a nice sunny morning with a light Westerly breeze;  a perfect morning for drying the downie cover.    I will have a daunder down to the beach after morning coffee;  I don't like taking photographs in the middle of a sunny day.... unless we have  big clouds building up... and that's not happening just now.       20.00    I've been really busy all day;  that includes taking time out to have walk up to the golf course in the morning.... where I met, and chatted to Irene, who was busy in her garden.   I had hoped we could  sit on a seat at the Thistle Clubhouse, but they were still damp after last night's rain;  so we had to staun and chat.   Irene plays bowls and golf so is a fit lady.    And looking well I might add. From, 'stood staunin' chatting to Irene I ambled back to Ivy, and had a cuppa.  I then organised ...

27th September 2025 (Saturday)     11.00 .... Iain set off for home (Auchnagatt) at 06.30 and arrived home just at 09.00.   He phoned at 09.11 to let me know he was back 'in residence' :  I was at Nan\a's Seat at that time.     Actually I've been a busy boy this morning.   Iain stripped the bed and I have most of the bedding on the line;  only the downie cover to do.   Although the sky is overcast there's a good drying breeze from the SSE.   Rain is forecast to arrive 'after my washing is dry'! I was sorry to hear that Sir Ming Campbell had died:  Maggie and I liked him, he was a proper gentleman, and like a favourite teacher.   We delivered leaflets with him, the year he won North East Fife. 19.30    This has been a brilliant day for me;  the washing dried by mid afternoon, and it has been ironed.   There's on'y the downie cover to do tomorrow.   Rain moved...

26th September 2025 (Friday)    15.15 .... Apologies for being late with 'The Hutte':  Iain and I have (mostly Iain) have moved the computer station through to the other bedroom.    That has been done;  now I have to get used to the change. In the morning we went to Anstruther to the Skeith Centre, then onto 'The Store'. ... so we have been busy.  Anyway Iain has got everything done that he wanted done.   He goes back home to Auchnagatt tomorrow morning. The weather has changed since the morning;  it's cloudy and and colder.   19.15    The car needs something done to it, so I should get it back on Monday.   Iain has been busy working with his new camera;  hes got brilliant photies of a spider  (rare) yesterday, and went round looking for more.     In the afternoon decided to make Eve's Pudding (using up some of the Ivy Cottage apples).     They are quite tasty this ye...

25th September 2025 (Thursday)     08.00 .... We had a beautiful sunrise this morning;  if I didn't have to take the car to the garage I'd have gone out on 'The Buggy' (or even the car) to get a few photographs.  Anyway I took a photo of Ferry Road;  it was very quiet.   I'm ready to take the car to the garage ... after I have another cuppa. 20.00    Iain and I arrived at the garage 30 seconds apart; Iain having driven from Auchnagatt and me from Earlsferry,     I had just begun to indicate that I was turning into the garage when a car, coming the other way went in.   I remember thinkin "that car is the same colour as Iain's".   When I got into the garage forecourt I discovered it was Iain.    That was excellent timing.   In fact it couldn't have been any better. We've had a lazy day since then we've had a lazy day.  Iain picked some of  the apples off the tree....

24th September 2025 (Wednesday)     08.30 .... We have a lovely sunny morning;  there still  a  chill in the air (6.4C), but it will be warm once the sun get's going.... and there's only a light breeze so hardly any wind chill.    After I get  the car tidied up for the MOT, it will be 'play time'.   That said I have 'ousework to do... and a washing to hang out.    Ye Gods ...I'm beginning to feel tired! 16.15   I went to Elie (in the car) to hand in my prescription;  and ended up down at the harbour.   The original plan' was to get the paper(s) but, on leaving the Chemist I saw the 'Time and Tide' van making a delivery.   Got out the camera, took the photie .... promptly forgot the paper(s).   I'd planned to buy one of my 'five a day', in the guise of a Cherry Cake.    "The best laid scheme's o' mice, man and Alberto;  gang aft agley" right enough. 23rd September 2025 (Tuesday)    08.45 .... It's a peaceful kind of morning;  sunny with light winds, and a chilly air.   A bonnie Autumn morning.   I'm going to Methil to visit Alice and Leven to do some shopping.   The early morning air is chilly but it should be warm  in the afternoon.   At the moment the breeze is from the SW but its backing to the SE in the afternoon. 19.00   Because we've had very little rain recently, I've had to water the floo'er tubs;  some overnight rain every second night would be ideal.    Anyway, the tubs have been watered;  and the kettle is 'on'.   It was either water the tubs or go for a run in the car to take a few photies;  the tubs won. It has been a lovely sunny day... and warm.  Warmer than I expected when I put on a heavier jersey this morning.   It was so warm in the Wellesley Community Centre that I had to take it off!
