Nice but cool ....

18th May 2021 (Tuesday)    09.30 .... the first thing that surprised me was how  Gannet resting on the harbour rocks - not a good sign. cold the wind was this morning.... it, the wind, is from the West and I’d expected it to be warmer:  having said that, it was early in the morning so it should become warmer when the sun is higher. Almost everything is where it should be at the harbour;   I say ‘almost’ because there’s a   Gannet resting on the rocks at the harbour.... that’s where a Gannet shouldn’t be; normally the only place they would land would be on the nesting site... i.e. the Bass Rock.      I have no doubt it will move, when folk are wandering around the harbour area. 17.00    There have been a few showers around but we have been lucky, catching only the edges of a couple in the afternoon.     This morning I was feeling adventurous and decided to see if it was possible for me to get to the t...

A quiet morning ....

17th May 2021 (Monday)      11.30 .... The ‘paper run’ was done at 06.30, in the car because I was short of milk.    Since then I have been up to Chapel Green on the bike;   and the bike battery has been charged so I am now ready to go again.... but where I go to has yet to be decided.     We have a lovely day, but showers are mentioned in the forecast for our area... so I’ll have to keep an eye on the weather; which will dictate where I actually go.   It’s not cold today... and there’s only a light breeze so it’s good day for biking or gardening  ....  gardening if the roads are busy. 16.00    Tomorrow will be a ‘rest day because, most of this afternoon I have been working in the garden.... and enjoying it (that's not good).  The ‘broon’ bucket is half full of weeds that have been detached from Mother Earth;  the plan being to tidy up the outside seating area so that we can s...

A cracker of a day ....

16th May 2021 (Sunday)      15.00 ....My word .... I have been a naughty, but extremely happy, boy.    Sorry about being so late with today’s ‘Hutte’.   Why am I late?.... I had a brilliant ‘paper run’ first thing.... leaving Ivy at 06.30 and not getting back until 08.30 having done the villages, Elie Ness (lighthouse) and Elie Estate, taking numerous photographs on the way.    It was one of those magical mornings .... and I have yet to finish sorting out the photographs I did take.   I took time out to have breakfast, lunch and a few cuppas... and a decent catnap.... an hour and a bit;   and, now and again I removed a few weeds from the planet.    I am a very happy bunny. 21.00    I’ve had a mixed day of ‘work’ (not much) and ‘play’ (reasonable amount).   It has been a bonnie day, but the onshore wind was annoying, but not in Ivy garden where I spent most of the...

Bonnier morning ....

15th May 2021 (Saturday)   09.30 .... there’s a friskier breeze today (SE) so it is cool, but ... we have had sunny spells, so it could be a brighter day, albeit cool when exposed to the wind.    I had a change of direction this morning;  I decided to have a walk along the beach, then up to the golf course and back to Ivy via the 18th fairway.   It’s a beautiful morning now.... warm in the sun, though it is a cool breeze.   The ‘plan’ is to have breakfast,  then get the bike to for the paper. 12.30    We’ve got a beautiful day;  perfect ‘play’ day.   I’ve been for the paper... but there was a queue outside the shop so I ended up at the harbour instead;   this was at 10.30 and the harbour area was already busy with people and vehicles.    I was speaking to a man from Shell Bay caravan site, and he was saying that all the touring spaces are full, and it looks like all the statics are ful...

Quiet morning ....

14th May 2021 (Friday)      11.30 .... it’s amazing how fast my day goes.   I was ‘up’ at 05.45, showered, had breakfast and a couple of cuppas;  checked the ‘Love Mail’ inbox .... it’s full of mail but not ‘LM’.   I eventually went out for the paper just after 08.00 and arrived back at Ivy about 09.30.    The kettle has to go ‘on’, the bike parked in The Hutte (where I can charge the battery if required), then sort the photos;  and that’s my morrrrrning.    Now I am thinking of ‘food’.    I’ll go up to Chapel Green after lunch. 21.30    We have a lovely end to the day.... but the cool breeze is still with us.   I went, for a run, up to Chapel Green later in the afternoon;  everything was so quiet:  so quiet you could almost hear the grass grow.   I wish I’d taken coffee with me.  I’ve done some gardening and ‘ousework today; ...

Quiet overcast morning .....

13th May 2021 (Thursday)      08.00 ....  We’re in for a series of grey days, with an Easterly breeze bring ‘stuff’ in from the North sea;   although grey it should be dry most of the time, though somewhat  ‘cheerless’ looking.    That said.... there are  always  ‘different’ photographs to be found, and this is Elie and Earlsferry, so we could have ‘sunny spells’.   I’ll go for the paper later in the morning, though I doubt if it will be very warm today;  not as warm as it should be... or as I’d like it to be. 21.00       Although the day has been overcast... with a cold Easterly wind;   it has passed quickly..... and at the end of the afternoon we had a few decent sunny spells, but unfortunately not for long. I didn’t go for the paper until 10.30.... hoping it would be warmer.     I suppose it was but breeze kept the temperature down.... and you all know ...

Showery morning .....

12th May 2021 (Wednesday )       10.00 .... with everything being wet, after Misty kind of evening. overnight rain, I decided to go to ‘The Store’ and have a spot of retail therapy.   I don’t buy that much, the ‘therapy’ being the walking up and down of the aisles.   Anyway since the pandemic began my ‘emergency rations’ taste changed.     Before the pandemic I liked chocolate biscuits, custard creams  and that sort of thing;  a few months into the pandemic I had a cupboard full of chocolate biscuits.... and the ‘Emergency Ration’ tin was full of plain digestives. ... (on which I spread a ‘liberal’ amount of various jams);     where before I would have four packets of crisps in a year, now I’ll have two or three packets per week.   I stopped buying chocolate biscuits and custard creams  etc.   This morning I fancied custard creams so the ‘auld normal’ is ...
