Feeling pink ... as 'in' it

Image
19th December 2018 (Wednesday) ....   08.00     I’m feeling ‘bright eyed Catching an Elie sunrise.  and bushy tailed’ this morning;   probably because we have the makings of a bonnie day ahead... a light breeze, with a mostly clear sky,   giving us long sunny spells.     The ‘sunny spells’ can’t be that long ‘cos it’s almost the shortest day (Friday the 21st).     16.30     There was only one ‘sunny spell’.... but it was a cracker;  it lasted all day.     If I‘d known that it was going to be that long I’d have dug out my shorts and the sun-bloc.   Actually I have been a reasonably busy bunny ... delivering some of my local Christmas cards.    Oh .... I ran out of printer ink .... with the insides of six cards to print!     I’ve ordered another two packs, but it’s unlikely they’ll arrive by the weekend. I was delivering cards in Cellardyke when I thought...

Windy ....

18th December 2018 (Tuesday) ... 08.00      We have brisk wind off the Lively morning ... and so am I. south, and it doesn’t feel that cold.... it's 7c in Ivy garden... but the wind chill will make it about 4c on the beach.       I’ve been up to the post box and back along the beach:   although the eastern sky was beginning to lighten it was too dark to see much, but I could see the white tops of, and hear, big waves coming into the bay.     High tide is at 11.00.       15.00     There was a good turnout for the ‘Colinsburgh Soup and Sweet’ Christmas lunch;   with Christmas crackers, therefore party hats so we ended up with a nice party atmosphere.    The party ended with the Colinsburgh School pupils singing Christmas songs.    I recognised Kris, Derek’s grandson: I don’t think there would be anyone else that I should have known.   I’ve ki...

Early showers ....

17th December 2018 (Monday) .... 08.00     Hmmm ... we had an Sunrise time. unexpected shower of rain just as I was going to go to the beach .... so that has been put on hold.      The weather forecast has us down for ‘light winds and sunny spells’ later.... neither of the forecasts that I use mention rain.    20.00    The early morning shower was the only shower we had;   in fact it has been   bonnie, and warm, most of the day.    It began to cloud over late in the afternoon. Jim and I went to Leven as planned;   we both had business with the bank.    I managed to get more done than I’d expected, and I have only one transaction to do which I’ll do next month.    This is one happy bunny.     On the way home we went to Harbour House for morning coffee: the ‘troops’ had been, and nearly all gone,.... we arrived there just 'Cosy glow' beach. as Geoff was leaving. ...

Bright and breezy ....

16th December 2018 (Sunday) ....     10.00    There’s been a lot of rain Bonnie (but breezy) morning. overnight: snow on the west of Fife.... but it is bright and breezy this morning.     I went down to the harbour for a change of scene, and a place to shelter, out of the wind, when taking photographs;   because it is cold out.     Colin, who originally set out for a game of golf, (but no one else had turned up), had a turn down to the harbour instead.     He was well organised, having an insulated mug full of coffee.     I have one of those mugs;     and I use it in the evening when on the computer.     I’ll use it before I go out in the car in future. There was one other man at the harbour;   he was getting ready to go wind surfing.     I was cold just looking at the water;   I couldn’t imagine going out on the water .... even wearing a wet sui...

It's cauld ....

Image
15th December 2018 (Saturday)   08.00   ... there’s a raw wind so there’s Sunrise time.... behind the clouds. a big wind chill factor this mornin’... and the ait temperature is around 0c, so it’s cauld;  but it is dry.      Do I venture down to the beach?     Sunrise time is 08.38 today... I’ve got time to have a cuppa before wrapping up and bumbling down for a quick look at the beach.     The wind is from the south east, and there’s no shelter from that direction.... but ... I’m feeling brave.... ish! 09.30     Yes ... it is definitely windy and cold today;   especially on the beach.   There was a few folk on the beach... mostly with dogs;   but one lady was litter picking.     And not short of stuff to ‘pick’.    The sky is mostly overcast but there are blue holes now and again so we might have a few short sunny spells.   The wind is forecast to freshen in the ...

Crackin' pre- sunrise sky ...

14th December 2018 (Friday) .... 09.30     We had a colourful sky this 20 minutes brfore sunrise. morning.... one of those pre- sunrise skies that makes me feel excited .... not a good weather sign, but stunning to see,... the sky i.e..... not me in ‘excited’ mode.    There’s a cool air coming from the south .... it’s perfect drying day:    and I have bedding going through the machine. 15.00     We’ve had a lovely, albeit cold, day... and I have been a busier boy than I thought I’d be.     The washing dried and is ready to iron;   and I have been to Leven to do a bit of shopping.    Today’s ‘plan’ didn’t include shopping but Myra and Jim were going to Leven after morning coffee in Harbour House.... so, in view of the weather forecast .... this ‘boy’ decided to 10 minutes before sunrise. go shopping.    If the ‘Royal Burrow’ gets cut off by huge snow drifts (anything over 3 inches de...

13th December 2018 (Thursday) ... 09.30    Iain and I were back at Ivy Hmmmmm .... it's damp.    Arran yesterday morning. about 22.40 last night after an uneventful journey.     At times during the day it looked like the ferry might be delayed due to adverse weather conditions ... it was windy in the afternoon.    However the wind moderated and we sailed from Brodick bang on time.    The journey both ways was smooth.                                                        I have loads of photographs to sort out later.     Right now I have a washing to hang out ....   there’s brisk south-easterly breeze, and rain isn’t mentioned in the weathe...
