Cold day ... with snow on Balcarres
29th
April 2016 (Friday)
.... 09.00 Hmmmm ... we have ‘wet and
windy’ this morning; very wet, and very
windy... with the ‘windy’ being, East ‘windy’; not a bonnie morning at all! The snow that was falling last night when I
went to bed has
turned to water adding to the general wetness. This is not a morning for the ‘boy’ going out on the bike .... this is
a ‘hibernating’ morning. My intention
was to get out to make a start with photographing the scarecrows, but I’ll
leave that until the sun breaks through;
already the sky is looking brighter;
or is that ‘wishful thinking?’
No the sky is definitely brightening up. I’ll have another cuppa and
contemplate: it’s a grand morning for
contemplating!
Raindrops on a window pane |
21.30 Well I have to admit the weather wasn’t
the best today but, in spite of that, I’ve manage to have an interesting day. The weather forecast for tomorrow is better; bright and windy, but the wind direction
should be from the west and therefore ‘healthier’, especially for the Elie
Scarecrows.
T
o
‘entertain’ myself this morning, I started to photograph the raindrops on the
window panes; this got interesting when I
discovered that, cars passing the window gave the raindrops a bit of colour....
depending on the colour of the car of course:
white, black, and grey (silver etc) made little difference, but any bright
colour made things interesting. The only
problem? .... cars come down Ferry Road at highly irregular intervals... and
most were either .... yep... white, black or grey! Coloured ones were few and far between when
I was looking for them! However it
was an interesting way to pass some time... taking the photos then looking at
them on the computer to see what I’d got.
Elie Bay after the rain |
Jimmy
phoned after lunch to say that he wanted to go to Leven for some shopping,
followed
by a visit to Sainsbury’s cafe for a latte.... and a ‘goodie’. We met Tom (Hunter) in Sainsbury’s Cafe, and
Audrey (Jimmy’s daughter) and husband John, at the shop entrance just as we
were leaving; which all helped to make the
shopping trip, ‘out of the ordinary’;
and filled in the afternoon.
Earlsferry High street |
The
villages will be busy tomorrow with folk looking for ‘scarecrows’, on, by all
accounts, what is forecast to be, a bright sunny morning, though there maybe
clouds in the afternoon. I’ll get the
bike out before breakfast and get up to Elie for the paper, and a ‘scarecrow
map’.
