20th June 2020 (Saturday- Summer Solstice)      05.30 ....The sky is overcast Elie and Earlsferry this morning. so there was never going to be a visible sunrise from Chapel Green this morning but;   with it being the Summer Solstice I thought I wander down to the beach to take a few beach photos at sunrise time:     well was I in for a surprise.    Any other year I’ve had the beach (actually Chapel Green usually) to myself....   this year there was a party of swimmers celebrating the Solstice.    It looked like a private party so I didn’t go onto the beach but did get a few distant shots .... with the granary and the lighthouse in the distance just to identify the location.    It is now breakfast time. 09.00    With the sun having burnt back the early cloud we have a crackin’ mornin’ now... with a westerly breeze.... 19th June 2020 (Friday)     08.00 .... There’s still a bit of drizzle falling,   at Hmmmmm .... bad hair day! the end of what looks like a good night of rain precipitation.    The good news is that there’s a change of ‘air’;     my breathing is easier, even although the pollen, UV and pollution levels are all Medium....   and the wind from the easterly direction.       I’m feeling playful again.... regrettably it’s not weather for playing (outside) just now:   I’ve been for the paper and enjoyed a short walk at the harbour and the sky has promising patches of paler grey in places.... we might end up with sunny spells in the afternoon.      Having said that;   the Fife Weather cams are all looking ‘grey’ so it might take a while for the sky to break up.     It’s breakfast time. 11.00     The drizzle has stopped and Ferry Road is beginning to dry.... so, altho...

18th June 2020 (Thursday)      06.00 .... Kirsty, my hairdresser, (Craig Boyd (Hairdresser) Leven) was in the group photograph in this week’s East Fife Mail.     The salon has been fitted with all the safety features possible and is huge upstairs so does have the room to have the chairs two metres apart:   I might get a haircut later next month!    Funnily enough my hair has grown past the annoying stage and I’m used to it being long;   that said.... I’ll be glad to get it cut. We have another grey start to the day with the sky having a ‘less promising’ look again;   there’s a cool easterly breeze.     I’d imagine we should get sunny spells in the afternoon/evening. 09.30     This Saturday (20th) is the summer solstice, when the sun is at its northern most point from the equator, .... after which it’s all downhill to winter ... and skiing.     According to some people this...

17th June 2020 (Wednesday)       06.30 ....   another grey and damp start to the Sign of summer. day but it is warm;  with sunny spells forecast for the afternoon.    One sunny spell lasting all afternoon (and evening) would be good.    Foggy photographs are all very well but they are not cheerful looking.... it’s   optimistic stuff we’re needing;   sunshine and loads of it.   08.30      I am one excited bunny;   the grey sky is being broken up by big blue patches.... we.... are going to have sunny spells.    Morning coffee (‘Elevenses’) is going to be taken at Chapel Green.... 16th June 2020 (Tuesday)        06.30 .... After a warm night we have another Stenton Row, Elie - the road to the harbour. grey morning;   the temperature just now is 12c.      The sky is heavily overcast but so far no Scotch Mist so I might get the bike out to go for the paper. I see in the 'News' that New Zealand has it’s first two new cases of COVID-19 in 24 days:   follow the link to read the BBC News report.    This shows how hard it’s going to be to stop this virus spreading once international travel really opens up again.    Must go ‘slight flap on’;   need another cuppa. 07.30      It’s pleasant ‘out’ this morning (just now anyway) in spite of the mist;     the views are not very generous but the air is warm and dry.    There is an increased ‘chance of precipitation’ later.     I didn’t go to the harbour nor up to Chapel Gree...

15th June 2020 (Monday)     08.00 ....I’ve been for the paper and came Kinneuchar loch. home by way of the estate;   it’s not a pleasant morning the weather being as per forecast;   “thick cloud and a gentle breeze” and it’s slightly cooler than it was yesterday.     My main reason for going though the estate was for exercise though I did stop and take a photo of the loch.    I was back at Ivy just as the Scotch mist began to get heavier. 21.00     I’ve had a busy and enjoyable day in spite of the weather being mixed;   I walked up to the golf course to get a few ‘misty golf course’ photos;  unfortunately the mist was heavier than I wanted to be but I was happy enough with the photos I got.   It disnae take much to make me happy.   Later in the afternoon I had to go up to Elie by this time it was raining so I had to take the car(electric bike are not best suited for rain)....

14th June 2020 (Sunday)      09.00 ... For some reason I woke up at 02.45 in Elie. the middle of the night, feeling bright eyed and bushy-tailed, and didn’t get back to sleep until nearly 04.00;   the last time I remember was 03.55 (I taken to   reading my book‘Little Dorrit’) before I finally dropped off again.    At one point I was thinking of getting up to catch the sunrise at 04.25 ... but it was misty so that was a non starter.    I finally got ‘up’ at 08.00 (no longer ‘bright eyed and bushy tailed’) and, having been out to have a look at the weather, promptly had the urge to go back to bed again:   we have Scotch Mist coming in from the North Sea so not a pleasant morning.... but it is warm.     I imagine that it will be ‘sunny and hot’ from Dunfermline westwards, and that we might get a sunny spell later.    There’s a big thunder storm out in the North Sea heading  for A berdeenshire so it shoul...
