Overcast .....



26th August 2025 (Tuesday)     08.30 .... After some light rain overnight, and there's a chance


of more spells light rain spells to come.   However the sky is brightening up and we should have sunny spells .... with light rain now and again.   Actually, there's shortage of water after the dry weather we've had over the past few months, so a spell of wet weather wouldn't go amiss.

19.30    My word;  at 27.6C I think this has been the hottest day yet on the patio.  I wasn't out 'enjoying' it;   oh no... 'The Boy' was sound asleep in front of the TV.   

Alice and I did some shopping in the morning, as per plan, but, by the time we left Sainsbury's (around 11.45) the heat was already building, and I was struggling.   However we went back to HQ and had a cheese roll salad, followed by plum crumble.   That reminds me;  I found a container full of Victoria plums  at the back door half an hour ago!    "Thank You" to the donor;  I love plums.    Maggie and I used to have a plum tree (Victoria) but it grew too big for the back garden.   Strange thing was;  every third year or so it would produce an over abundance of plums.   The Blackbird (and wasps) had a great time in those years.   I'm eating my second plum as I type... they are juicy!

Back to HQ.    I didn't linger at Alice's after lunch because I wanted to be home before the 'heat of the day'... so, we had an after lunch coffee then I set off for Ivy.   The roads weren't too busy going towards the East Neuk, but were busy the other way.   

I noticed some heavy looking shower clouds over towards the West of Fife, earlier, and I see spots hitting the window now;  I won't have to water the tubs tonight.   There has been thunder up in the NE of Scotland, but we've been quiet here.... so far.  I don't want thunder .... only a heavy shower o' rain. I'd go out with the camera but I'm just had a migraine.... and it's raining anyway.   I might go down to Ferry corner when the rain moves away.

Light rain showers are forecast for tomorrow;  that's good because we'll have sunny spells between the showers.   It's not going to be as hot and humid as it was today.   At the moment I have no intention of going anywhere tomorrow; but weather permitting I might go out on the bike.... there's a path I want to check, to see if it's suitable for The Buggy'.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.
