Bad hair day.....

Image
19th May 2020 (Tuesday)      09.00 .... we have rather damp morning... Damp looking Earlsferry High Street. everything is hinging wi’ water though it isn’t actually raining.      I didn’t go up for the paper earlier, (though I was up) choosing to pick it, the paper, up when the sun breaks through later in the morning.    The Ferry High street is wearing has a ‘bad hair day’ look this morning.... and so is the garden.    But not me. 19.00      We have had another bonnie day... and for me a busy one.    I went for the paper after Myra phoned (10.30) his morning (Myra checks that ‘her boys’ are alright every morning).    I was on the bike then remembered that I needed milk, but discovered that I can carry a 2 litre container ‘nae bother’ in the bike carrier.    I was planning to make macaroni cheese which is why the milk was vital.     In fact I started on th...

Early showers ....

18th May 2020 (Monday)       06.30 ....   My first thought when I looked out Clearing sky over Elie and Earlsferry. of the bedroom   window was “go back to bed and have another 8 hours kip-a-roonie””.     The sky was grey and it had been raining.    However when I actually went outside (having had a shower and put on some claes) I saw that the sky was breaking up from the Northwest and it was no longer raining (thought everything was wet);    it’s going to be a bonnie day and I am feeling frisk... but we could have a few rain showers yet. 08.30     I have been feeling ‘romantic’ this morning... full of the urge to share my stupidity with some innocent lady;   so I have decided to name my camera ‘Miranda’.     Ye Gods I’m full of cuddly romance this morrrrrrrrrrrrning.   In the meantime the sky is trying hard to break up and give us that bonni...

Overcast with light rain ....

17th May 2020 (Sunday)        08.00 .... I didn’t factor rain into my Ro-Ro cargo vessel 'Anvil Point'. plan for today but we have had spits of light rain first thing and the sky is overcast;   however it should clear by midday.     The rain is only light and   intermittent but annoyingly wet .... so I took the car up to Elie for the paper;   hopefully I’ll get out on the bike in the afternoon.         11.00     It’s a long time since I watched Thomas the Tank engine but that’s what I watched when having a break from ooverin’ and dustin’ the computer shelves.     That was followed by a short film (1943) about a record breaking attempt to build a Wellington bomber in 30 hours.    It’ was given the serial No LN 514 and it's wheels left the runway “24 hours and 48 minutes after the attempt began”.    There’s no record of it having been lost ...

Breezy ....

Image
16th May 2020 (Saturday)      07.30 ....   “Sunny intervals with a fresh Elie Estate. westerly breeze” is the KY9 forecast for today;    it’s actually going to be F4 -5 (its F5 in Largo Bay at present) fairly windy but not a wintry feeling wind.     I   have yet to go for the paper;   I plan to do that in the middle of the morning.       The sky is overcast just now but rain isn’t in the forecast and, as I’m feeling in a positive and creative mood,.... I have a washing in the machine.   There’s certainly a good drying wind. Platform ‘Deepsea Aberdeen’ (which departed Largo Bay yesterday evening) is out in the North Sea making for Aberdeen.... and .... cruise ship Balmoral is also in the North Sea, heading south.     There’s also a whole fleet of tankers off Dunbar   (Dunbar Anchorage).... waiting to go into Hound Point mostly. Barnyards. 19.00    I...

I feel like singing this morning .....

15th May 2020 (Friday)     08.00 .... My word we have a gorgeous morning Kinneuchar. and it is starting to feel warmer even at ‘silly time’.... it should be a comfortably warm day by 10.00.    I must have been really tired last night ..... I slept (unbroken) for nine hours;   today will be a ‘rest’ day so I won’t go up to Balcarres:   probably leave that until Sunday and just have a quiet scuttle round the villages sometime today.    I’ll do a wee bit of painting .... there’s a bit of ‘The Hutte’ that   needs another three coats... and it’s all easy to get at (all the awkward bits have been done). 21.00     I’ve had a brilliant day today;    I pottered around in the greenhouse, watered the cactus’s... and Barbara’s floo’ers:   then I had an idea.    I decided to make myself a face mask.    I saw somebody do it on the tele and it looked easy:    all you need is a T - sh...

Feeling playful ....

Image
14th May 2020 (Thursday)       06.30 .... I’m feeling ‘playful’ this morning Earlsferry from the Breakwater. and it looks like being a bonnie day for ‘going out to play’;   there’s a brisk breeze from the West and it is cold but not that sharp wintry feeling cold that we’ve had recently.    Will we ever be able to go ‘oot tae play’ again?.... the realisation that coffee mornings and such gatherings   won’t be the same is hard to come to terms with.     According to the WHO this virus is going to be around for years so I guess we will have to adjust.    Orf to get the bike out and go for the paper. 08.30     Did I say that the wind didn’t have the feel of winter about it?..... well you can cancel that!     By the time I was back in Ivy the wind had freshened and   it was freezin’.    I won’t be goin’ out until after lunchtime by which time there should be warmth it t...

Early morning frost ....

Image
13th May 2020 (Wednesday)       06.30 .... The temperature is only 1975-76 Land Rover Defender. 1c in the garden this morning.... and there’s a brisk breeze so it feels like -2c;    I’ll let the sun get up a bit before going for the paper(s) this morning.     IT looks like we are going to have a bonnie day but cool in the wind.    I’m having a quiet day in the garden;   not necessarily working ... . looking at green things is the sort of ‘plan’ I have in mind;   that, drinking a few cuppas and doing Soduko’s in the Hutte.    yes I’m having   rest day today.   There is one bush .... no...   it will still be there tomorrow. 08.00      It is a beautiful morning and, once the temperature rises (though it’s not forecast to rise very far ...with a high of 9c mentioned) it will be a nice day for being out in the fresh air.    I took the car to go for the paper (and a ...
