Overcast and wet ....

29th June 2022 (Wednesday)   07.45 ....My word.... it’s bleak and wet just


now.... but the sky is brightening towards the West so we should end up with ‘light showers with a moderate breeze’.... the bits in between the showers being sunny spells;  long ones!    I don’t think the bike will be going far today;  I’m feeling frisky, and fancied a tour of the villages.   ‘Tour’?.... The ‘Tour de France starts (in Denmark) on Friday, with Stage 1 being a time trial around Copenhagen.

16.00    This turned into another ‘rest day’;  the garden was too wet to do anything.   All I have done is had a short play with the ‘oover, and carry cuppas up to The Hutte where I did a few Sudoku’s.  The showers have been few but they have been wet.   I’ll have a run out in the evening... probably in the car.


22.30    The tide was out when I went to the harbour so I was able to wander around the boats;  this was an hour before sunset.   Unfortunately I only had the wee camera (Olympus) with me... and it ran out of power.   The spare batteries were at home, so I didn’t catch the sun dropping below the clouds.   That said I am happy with the photos I got.

This hasn’t been a rest day ... it’s been more of a lazy one;  I did stuff on the computer but the showers were too frequent to even consider going out on the bike...and the garden was always too wet to get anything done there.   I’m a frustrated bunny.

The ‘Balcarres’ book that I ordered is down for delivery on Friday.   I am happy about


that;  I was worried in case it was going to be delivered tomorrow;  I am going to a Memorial Service in Upper Largo kirk in the middle of the day.   I also have another book to order but I won’t do that until Friday. 

This has been a frustrating kind of day but at least it’s ending with a promising look... almost a red sky  in fact.   ‘Light rain showers with a moderate breeze’ is the forecast.   It’s chocolate time.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
