Windy and colder ....

10th February 2020 (Monday)     07.00 .... Having been out as far as the
Elie Lighthouse this afternoon.
front gate I know that it’s windy...  it’s colder .... and, with sleet showers mentioned in the forecast for KY9 it looks like being a computer day for this boy.   I had thought of going to Kirkcaldy but there’s more chance of sleet/snow along there so that mission has been postponed until the weather clears up.
12.30    My word .... that was one wild sleet shower that rattled over;  I am glad that I didn’t go to Kirkcaldy.    I haven’t been ‘out’ yet .... not even as far as the car and that’s just at the gate.    I will go for a circumnavigation of the villages after lunch but I’m thinkin’ that any photographs I do take will be from inside the cosy car.   I have been working on the computer most of the morning..... and will do the same for most of the afternoon. 
18.00      It has been a wintry like day with wild and heavy sleet showers .... and it turned colder as the day wore on.    I went out in the car which isn’t the most exercise intensive way of getting around but I did have a walk down to the beach after I got

home.    Wild weather usually means interesting skies;  and that certainly was the caste today.... and it ought to be the same tomorrow ‘cos the forecast is for us to get .more of the same’.    That reminds me:   in the middle of the morning I ended up with what I call a ‘thundery headache’ but I didn’t think we got thunder at this time of year.    I looked up Lightning.org and lo and behold there has been lightning strikes all along the ‘sooth side, all the way to the West coast.... so;   thundery headache it was.    The headache cleared up after the lightning petered out off the Outer Hebrides.
19.30     I see that it’s snowing at Lochgelly;  snowflakes show up as white streaks

across the webcam picture.    Snow is forecast for more or less anywhere in Scotland overnight.... apart from our wee corner of Fife of course.    I don’t suppose I’ll be going very far again tomorrow .... it will be an ‘ousework and  computer day I’m thinkin’;   with a run out in the car to get the paper.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.
