Nice morning .... .....

30th September 2025 (Tuesday)      08.45  .... It's quiet kind of morning.   The sky mostly cloudy just now, but there are breaks here and there, so we could get a sunny spells later.   There's only a light breeze so no wind chill.   actually it could be warm in the afternoon. We're thinking of going to Falkland Hill because the weather becomes a bit more mixed after today.    21.30    We didn't go to Falkland Hill after all;   it was a bit misty for taking telephoto photies from the Car Park which is what I wanted to do.   Anyway Falkland Hill will still be there next year (it maybe a millimetre shorter) so we'll get it another day! Instead of the Hill 'JB' went round the beach and rocks with the Canon camera while I went up to Chapel Green, on 'The Buggy' with the Olympus.   Between us we got a  load of photies to 'play' with tomorrow.   "Light rain with a moderate breez...

29th September 2025 (Monday)     14.00 ....   'JB' arrived just after 09.00:  and we have been Oyster Catchers and Redshank. busy since then.   the first thing we did was catch up with the 'News' from down south' and First was had a cuppa while  catching  up with the 'down south'  news.   After thaat we went to 'The Store' to so a a shopping, something I wasn't able to do over the weekend because i didn't have the car.  The Store chill cabinets are all out of service so we didn't get  all the shopping I'd have liked;  but I'll go to Sainsbury's when I have the car.   I can't annoy Alice.... because she has the 'flu.   It could be the 'new COVID that's around just now.   Anyway Alice is out of bounds for a while. The weather has turned cloudy over the past hour or so;  if I'm lucky I won't have to water the floo'er tubs this evening. Curlew. 22.30   Being that I c...

28th September 2025 (Sunday)     10.30 ....  we have a nice sunny morning with a light Westerly breeze;  a perfect morning for drying the downie cover.    I will have a daunder down to the beach after morning coffee;  I don't like taking photographs in the middle of a sunny day.... unless we have  big clouds building up... and that's not happening just now.       20.00    I've been really busy all day;  that includes taking time out to have walk up to the golf course in the morning.... where I met, and chatted to Irene, who was busy in her garden.   I had hoped we could  sit on a seat at the Thistle Clubhouse, but they were still damp after last night's rain;  so we had to staun and chat.   Irene plays bowls and golf so is a fit lady.    And looking well I might add. From, 'stood staunin' chatting to Irene I ambled back to Ivy, and had a cuppa.  I then organised ...

27th September 2025 (Saturday)     11.00 .... Iain set off for home (Auchnagatt) at 06.30 and arrived home just at 09.00.   He phoned at 09.11 to let me know he was back 'in residence' :  I was at Nan\a's Seat at that time.     Actually I've been a busy boy this morning.   Iain stripped the bed and I have most of the bedding on the line;  only the downie cover to do.   Although the sky is overcast there's a good drying breeze from the SSE.   Rain is forecast to arrive 'after my washing is dry'! I was sorry to hear that Sir Ming Campbell had died:  Maggie and I liked him, he was a proper gentleman, and like a favourite teacher.   We delivered leaflets with him, the year he won North East Fife. 19.30    This has been a brilliant day for me;  the washing dried by mid afternoon, and it has been ironed.   There's on'y the downie cover to do tomorrow.   Rain moved...

26th September 2025 (Friday)    15.15 .... Apologies for being late with 'The Hutte':  Iain and I have (mostly Iain) have moved the computer station through to the other bedroom.    That has been done;  now I have to get used to the change. In the morning we went to Anstruther to the Skeith Centre, then onto 'The Store'. ... so we have been busy.  Anyway Iain has got everything done that he wanted done.   He goes back home to Auchnagatt tomorrow morning. The weather has changed since the morning;  it's cloudy and and colder.   19.15    The car needs something done to it, so I should get it back on Monday.   Iain has been busy working with his new camera;  hes got brilliant photies of a spider  (rare) yesterday, and went round looking for more.     In the afternoon decided to make Eve's Pudding (using up some of the Ivy Cottage apples).     They are quite tasty this ye...

25th September 2025 (Thursday)     08.00 .... We had a beautiful sunrise this morning;  if I didn't have to take the car to the garage I'd have gone out on 'The Buggy' (or even the car) to get a few photographs.  Anyway I took a photo of Ferry Road;  it was very quiet.   I'm ready to take the car to the garage ... after I have another cuppa. 20.00    Iain and I arrived at the garage 30 seconds apart; Iain having driven from Auchnagatt and me from Earlsferry,     I had just begun to indicate that I was turning into the garage when a car, coming the other way went in.   I remember thinkin "that car is the same colour as Iain's".   When I got into the garage forecourt I discovered it was Iain.    That was excellent timing.   In fact it couldn't have been any better. We've had a lazy day since then we've had a lazy day.  Iain picked some of  the apples off the tree....

Nice Autumn morning ....

24th September 2025 (Wednesday)     08.30 .... We have a lovely sunny morning;  there still  a  chill in the air (6.4C), but it will be warm once the sun get's going.... and there's only a light breeze so hardly any wind chill.    After I get  the car tidied up for the MOT, it will be 'play time'.   That said I have 'ousework to do... and a washing to hang out.    Ye Gods ...I'm beginning to feel tired! 16.15   I went to Elie (in the car) to hand in my prescription;  and ended up down at the harbour.   The original plan' was to get the paper(s) but, on leaving the Chemist I saw the 'Time and Tide' van making a delivery.   Got out the camera, took the photie .... promptly forgot the paper(s).   I'd planned to buy one of my 'five a day', in the guise of a Cherry Cake.    "The best laid scheme's o' mice, man and Alberto;  gang aft agley" right enough. It has been a ...

23rd September 2025 (Tuesday)    08.45 .... It's a peaceful kind of morning;  sunny with light winds, and a chilly air.   A bonnie Autumn morning.   I'm going to Methil to visit Alice and Leven to do some shopping.   The early morning air is chilly but it should be warm  in the afternoon.   At the moment the breeze is from the SW but its backing to the SE in the afternoon. 19.00   Because we've had very little rain recently, I've had to water the floo'er tubs;  some overnight rain every second night would be ideal.    Anyway, the tubs have been watered;  and the kettle is 'on'.   It was either water the tubs or go for a run in the car to take a few photies;  the tubs won. It has been a lovely sunny day... and warm.  Warmer than I expected when I put on a heavier jersey this morning.   It was so warm in the Wellesley Community Centre that I had to take it off! At Alice...

22nd September 2025 (Monday)     Autumnal Equinox. 09.00 .... We have a lovely Autumn morning;  sunny, with a light south westerly breeze.    The temperature is 6.1C just now but it will be warm, once the sun is higher in the sky.   I don't have a plan of action for today yet;  I'll come up with one,  while having another cuppa.   I might go down to Nana's seat after morning coffee. 19.15   I've had a strange day;  for some reason I couldn't get fired up.   Anyway I eventually decided to wash a couple of body warmers, which would appear to be just another washing job.   Oh no it wasn't;  I had  badges  (Veteran's badge etc) to remove;  and found out why both warmers were heavy: I found £25.45p (in coins) from the numerous pockets.   The doldrums were consigned to history..... I was beginning to enjoy myself!  My next mission was picking some apples, for Alice...

Bright and sunny ....

21st September 2025 (Sunday)     08.45 .... We have a bright and sunny Autumn morning, with  a  Lower Methil roundabout cool breeze from the Northwest.   Actually there a feel of ... er ... frost ... in the air.     It's not actually frosty here but it will be further north.    It's 7.6C on the patio thermometer but feels out in the open.    It could be pleasantly warm on the patio the sun gets going.    I have a washing going through the machine. I'm going to Methil at annoy Alice.... and probably do a wee bit of shopping.   Iain is coming down on Wednesday;  and the car is going for it's MOT on Thursday.    Hopefully that will be 'done and dusted' by Friday. 20.00    My to Methil to visit Alice.... and the shopping trip, was a astounding success.   Alice had been baking Carrot cake and Banana loaf (that reminds me I have a bit of Banana loaf that I'll have, aft...

20th September 2025 (Saturday)     08.45 .... We have a peaceful kind of morrrrrrning.   At the moment the sun is breaking through an overcast sky and there's a light SW breeze;  but light rain and drizzle is moving in, on a cold NE breeze, in the afternoon.   I might go for a short walk after after the sun breaks through, but won't visit Alice as I have a cold.   Right now I need an early morrrrning coffee! I set off for a daunder up to the seat at the 17th green before lunch;  but the, frisky wind was already coming from the North and it was much colder, so I never went further than the phone box.   In fact the top photo is taken from inside the phone box!   There's no door on the phone box now, and I don't know if the phone actually works, but it's useful for taking photographs from, on a cold and windy day!...as long as you want a photo of Ferry Road!    I see on the 'News' that Heathrow is one of ...

Showers and sunny spells......

Image
19th September 2025 (Friday)    09.15 .... It's s nice morning, a mix of sunshine and showers, with the chance of longer spells of light rain later.    There's a moderate SW breeze, but its not as cold as thought it was before I ventured out.    I think I will catch up with the 'ousework today;   I feel in that kind of mood. 16.30    Housework? .... I'll do that later in the week.   This morrrrrning, I went for a wander up to the golf course, then to the beach via Rotten Row and Siward Lane, and home by Ferry Wynd.   I really enjoyed myself;  and took a whole load of photies to play with. It has been a nice day:  not always sunny but the air was pleasantly warm, and a lot of folk were out enjoying that.    And we never had any rain.  The work to upgrade the electricity supply should finish this week, with only the traffic cones etc. to be uplifted.   Ferry Road has been like living ...

18th September 2025 (Thursday)    07.45 .... We have a bright, and very breezy morning, but  the wind isn't as cold as I thought it would be;  and it will start to moderate in the early afternoon.   It's a good drying day ... and a good day for having my haircut.   I might venture down to the harbour when up at Elie today... depends on how windy it is at that time.   High tide is at 12.32.  11.30   I've had my haircut, and feel better for having that done.  I didn't venture down to the harbour because it was too windy; the wind being F5 - 6 at that time.  Back at Ivy I made myself a cuppa, and watched the President leaving Windsor Castle  for Chequers.   I enjoyed all the 'pomp and ceremony' yesterday, and watched the speeches at the banquet last night.    I googled 'The banquet table' and it came up with the following details (an AI answer):  it's called the 'Waterloo Table', is mad...

17th September 2025 (Wednesday)     08.30 .... Low cloud has drifted in off the North Sea on Colinsburgh. a  SE breeze to give us a 'dreich' morning.   However, it's going to be a lovely, sunny and warm  afternoon, because the wind is going to veer to the SW from midday.   My 'plan' for today? .... I shall go up to Elie, get the paper(s)  and .... make an appointment to have my haircut.   19.30    I watched the 'Pomp and Ceremony' of Presidents State visit most of the afternoon.   Myra had phoned in the morning to remind me that it was the Colinsburgh Lunch today; which was handy because I didn't have to bother about making lunch.   Anyway, where was I? .... yes watching the State visit 'Pomp and Ceremony'.    There's no doubt about it;  no other country can do 'Pomp and Ceremony' like we do;  it was marvellous.   The only thing was; without the crowds, it was like wa...

16th September 2025 (Tuesday)      09.45 .... It's a lovely, sunny, and peaceful Autumn morning.  A morning for doing things.... so I did a small washing.   When I emptied the machine I wondered where some of the 'washing' had gone.   I'd forgotten to put it in the machine... so it was a 'smaller than planned' washing.    The sun is bright, and I'm in a productive mood, so I'm going to attack another bit o' the bathroom .... after a mug o' coffee.   After the sun has warmed the air up, I might try for a daunder down to Nana's seat.  But...before I do any of that I must charge The Buggy battery (after the coffee).    12.30   Having had a run up to Chapel green on 'The Buggy', I have now got her 'on charge,  ready for the next  mission.   I didn't stay out long because shower clouds are starting to appear from the West;  showers aren't mentioned in the forecast, but I didn't chan...

Light rain ....

15th September 2025 (Monday)     08.00 .... The overnight rain has moved away, to give sunny  spells and showers.   At the moment we have a light breeze, but it will freshen by morning coffee time, though not up to the levels that it will be down south.   I'm going to have a quiet day;  doing some 'ousework and general 'pottering' around Ivy.   When the sun gets going, and after I have morning coffee, I might go down to Nana's Seat:  because I'm feeling 'fairly frisky'.  17.00   It has been a day of mixed up weather;  mostly sunny in the morrrrning, then clouds and heavy showers in the afternoon.   A nice enough day as long as you missed the showers. I had a daunder down to Nana's Seat (top photograph) and thought about walking along the bents, path for a bit but it was too windy for me.   I met Chris who was out walk her dog;  it might have been the  other way round... the dog ...

14th September 2025 (Sunday)    07.45 .... It's a lovely, peaceful autumn morning .... sunny with a light southerly breeze.   The early morning air is chilly but it well warm up when the sun gets going.  Rain is forecast to move in later in the afternoon and evening.   I'm going to visit Alice in the morning and so some shopping:  Ian is coming along in the afternoon for afternoon coffee and a chat.   Both Alice and Ian are going off tomorrow morning;  Alice and Izzy are going up to Aberdeenshire, and Ian is starting his journey South to Heathrow.    Ian is having a few stops on the way down, including a night at, picturesque 'Bourton on the Water' near Oxford. 21.00   I've had a busy day;  'annoying' Alice (I don't know how she puts up wi' me)  and doing some shopping in the morning,  then had an early lunch and afternoon coffee at 'Alice HQ', before heading home to Ivy, to get organised for Ian ...

13th September 2025 (Saturday)     08.15 ..... There's been some light rain overnight, but that is clearing away to the East to leave us with 'sunshine and showers' and a moderate Westerly breeze.   It must have been chilly overnight because the heating came on this morning.   (That reminds me I must set the heating to its ...er ... winter settings).    Anyway it looks like we are going to have a repeat of yesterdays weather;  so there could be some interesting clouds in the afternoon. 12.00    It has been a mostly sunny morning, albeit with a cold breeze;  but shower clouds are starting to creep over from the West.   I haven't been 'out and about', but might have a short daunder after this update;  I'll have a cuppa while I think about 'short daundering'.   It's much colder that it has been lately (15.2C);  I might have two cuppas! 15.00    After the cuppa (and a goodie) I louped i...

12th September 2025 (Friday)     08.30 ....  It's  a lovely morning;  a bit windier  (SW) than we've had lately so it will feel cooler, and, though mostly sunny, there's a chance of showers in the afternoon.   A nice day to be going to Leven Golf Club, to have lunch with the girls.   I haven't been outside yet, but I can see the branches walloping about on the apple tree.   I'd better pick up some of the apples to make myself an 'Eveline's Pudding'! 11.00    I went up to Elie (in the car) to buy milk, and get some money from the ATM cash point.    I'll need to take box with me box to stand on in future, if I need to use the machine  when the sun is on it.   Luckily there was a couple, out walking their dog, that helped me so it was a successful mission .... eventually. 18.45    Kirsty, Myra and I enjoyed our lunch at Leven Golf Club:  It was 'Fish n' Chips Lunch' day, so t...
