2020 ....
1st January 2020 (Wednesday) 11.00 .... the weather is Sussex for the first day of 2020 looks like being exactly the same as it was on the last day of 2019 ..... overcast, warm (for the time of year) and still.
We had an quiet evening waiting for Big Ben to 'Boooooong' at midnight.... in fact one of the most enjoyable 'New Year' parties for a long time. There was six of us playing a board game and watching the New Year evening programme on the television..... but .... my word ...New Year's are completely different now.... and I will have to get used to 'Auld Lang Syne' being sung as "auld land zyne"..... with the words 'the sake of'' added! That grates on the nerves a bit.... but appears to be the international version!
Over the day we saw a wheen o' fireworks being set off at various places around the world; I thought Auckland was the best by a narrow margin. London and Edinburgh were good but plagued by too much smoke. Actually .... when you think about it there must have been a lot on money's worth o' rockets set off.
Uckfield is very quiet this morning .... though there is the odd car beetling up the road. 'JB' and I are going over to Battle in the afternoon to visit Jenny and Dave. Otherwise it's going t be a quiet day.
