West wind ....

1st July 2017 (Saturday) .... 08.30    I am feeling positive about the weather today, so much so that I have a washing on the line!  We have ‘overcast and dry’ just
EKC Walk halfway mark ... the Deil's Lodge.
now, but sunny spells are forecast.... and .... this is the good bit,  the wind is from the Southwest;   a good forecast for the ‘Balcarres Walk’.    I’m taking the car up to North Lodge (the Deil’s Lodge) and will have a walk around that area until the ‘walkers’ appear.

20.00     The weather stayed ‘fair’, in fact it was perfect, for the 30 + ‘walkers’ who went on ‘EKC Balcarres Walk and Feast’.   It was good to have walkers from the other churches in the ‘cluster’...and everyone ‘mixed in’, with plenty of happy chatting.

When the ‘walkers’ appeared at the Deil’s lodge I donned the high visibility jacket to let motorists know that something was going on up ahead.    The jacket did the trick with most motorists slowing down as soon as the saw it:  ‘a white ‘van’ driver being the exception.   I had a walk around the ‘Deil’s Lodge area’, checked, and topped up, the tyre pressures of the car, then went down to Colinsburgh to take a few photos of the ‘troops’ arriving, hungry and well ready, for the ‘feast’;   even ‘The Boy’, who hadn’t
100 metres to go.
done much ‘walking’  was ready for food.    I had Armenian Lentil soup, a mix of sandwiches .... + two pieces (naughty boy) of Lemon drizzle cake!

The villages are busy tonight ... it’s the start of the ‘Edinburgh Holidays’..... so I don’t feel ‘lonely’, now that I have ‘background’ noise going on.   When the villages are ‘empty’ the lack of noise can be ... well ... ‘deafening’.   I managed to get the car ‘moored up’ in Ferry Wynd, which was a surprise;   for the next six weeks, finding a ‘mooring’ place can be hard.

Tomorrow is forecast to be ‘bright with decent spells of sunshine’;   could this be the start of ‘summer’?    I have ‘nae plans’:  I had intended going along to Kirkcaldy to get a photo of HMS Queen Elizabeth, but ‘she’ is tearing about off Crail... she has been doing 23.6 knots (27 mph)... fast for a boat that size;   ‘her’ maximum speed is given as 25 knots (28.7 mph).   Oh .... ‘she’ has reached 26.3 (30.26 mph)... that’s the

fastest I have seen ‘her’ do... that’s almost as fast as I have seen some vehicles do in our 20 mph zones.
