Cloudy and warm ....

10th June 2021 (Thursday)      08.00 .... we have a grey morning but it is

Today's partial eclipse of the sun.

warm.... and the sun might burn off some of the cloud by lunchtime, so we could have a nice enough day ahead.   I’ve been for the paper(s), and had a quick run down to the harbour and can report that all is quiet and peaceful at Elie and Earlsferry (Royal Burgh of) this morning.  I am going to have breakfast, then go up to Chapel Green to have morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee;  by that time I’m hoping the sun has broken though the cloud.

13.30   I went to Chapel Green as per plan;  the ‘plan’ being to get a photo of the partial eclipse.... for that to happen I needed the cloud to thin;  just enough to act as a filter.    It began to look like this was never going to happen so I decided to go back to Ivy and have a cuppa in The Hutte;  still hoping for the cloud to thin.  Lo and behold;  I was in the middle of doing a Soduko when I noticed the light begin to brighten showing glimpses of the sun through the cloud.... exactly what I wanted.    It was a happy boy who  managed to get some reasonable photographs, of the moon taking a bite out of the sun.

The bike battery is being charged;  I hope to go out later in the afternoon.   I think I’ll have a cuppa out in The Hutte..... and have a look at a Soduko.

It was a good drying day.

19.00     I thought I’d fall asleep in The Hutte this afternoon .... that was the plan..... but I didn’t;   I finished a Soduko instead.   After the bike battery was fully charged I thought of going out, but decided that I’d leave it (the fully charged bike) until tomorrow, when I might go for a wee explore.   That depends on how windy it is;  and how frisky I feel. Tomorrow is going to be cloudier.... and breezier, than today, and slightly cooler.

This has been one of those days when I don’t seem to have done anything, but the day has just flown past;  I guess I should call it a ‘rest day’..... but I can’t even remember ‘resting’.

21.00    It’s a bonnie evening but there is a brisk breeze;  I actually thought about going


to the beach but thought it too cauld for my delicate constitution.   It’s not really cold .... only breezy: and it’s going to be breezy for the next few days.   It’s time for my bedtime mug of chocolate.... and a browse through the TV channels.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
