Remembrance Sunday ....
13th
November 2016 (Remembrance
Sunday) .... We had a beautiful sunrise, one of those “red sky in the morning shepherds
warning” sunrises .... and
there was a touch of frost in the air. Unfortunately the Western sky is grey and beginning
to move over; we’ll most likely get rain later.
Sunrise time. |
I’m
going to Kinneuchar Kirk for the Remembrance Service... and perhaps to the Elie
war Memorial Service .... if it isn’t raining by then. Must ‘go’ ‘ever so slight flap on’ this
morning!
21.00 The “red sky in the morning, shepherds
warning” at sunrise was verrrrry accurate:
it began to rain when we were at the Kilconquhar War Memorial, and it
has been ‘dreich’ ever since. The best
part of the day was at sunrise time! The
weather is forecast to ‘improve’ overnight, and we
should have ‘bright spells’
tomorrow.

The
Remembrance service at Kilconquhar was very well attended, as was the short
wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial.
After Kilconquhar, my intention was to go down to the Elie War Memorial ceremony
and get a few photos, but it was raining by then so I missed Elie. Jimmy went to Elie, then came along to Ivy
for a cuppa, where we caught the end of the Remembrance Ceremony at the
Cenotaph.
There
has been a 7.8 earthquake near not far from Christchurch in South Island
(NZ): ‘M’ felt it in Otaki, and said it
was the worst earthquake she has experienced, because it went on for three
minutes. That would have a frightening experience
in the middle
of the night. The folks
in Kaikoura have been warned to expect a tsunami ... and Kaikoura is low lying
so it wouldn’t take a huge wave to create havoc there. We’re lucky with our miniscule 0.9
earthquakes! I’ve been looking at the
GeoNet earthquake site for New Zealand, and the whole country rattles with
earthquakes .... at different times luckily;
and most of them are ‘light’.

Welll
I’m starting a ‘new’ bedtime book tonight;
I have a suspicion that I may be starting it soon! Today’s
weather has not been the most inspirational, but, as I said earlier, it is
supposed to be better tomorrow.
