Overcast and warm ....

28th April 2023 (Friday)    08.30.... Hmmmm.... it’s overcast just now, with a


look o’ dampness in the air; it’s not actually raining, but light rain is forecast for the morning, with sunny intervals in the afternoon;  the air is much warmer (10C), so we should have a ‘sunny and warm’  afternoon with only a light breeze from the SSW.

20.00    It was 16C in the garden at one point this afternoon;  pleasantly warm... and mostly sunny.   After going for the pater I decided to go to Ardross Farm Shop to buy mince for a batch cooking session... and to get photographs of ‘Sheepscape’ and Baaaat - Bee’, two of The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society’s, ‘Flock to the Show’ public art trail sheep, that are at Ardross until 1st May.  I bought the mince and a few vegetables, then photographed the sheep.   The World Sheep Shearing Championships is being held at the ‘Highland Show’ this year (22nd to 25th June).    I met, and chatted to William ‘T’ (from Colinsburgh) before coming home via Kinneuchar.    William T’ has a bad cold just now and wasn’t feeling too good.


This is the ‘Elie’ (and Earlsferry) scarecrow weekend and scarecrows were being set up all over the place;  the villages will be busy over this holiday weekend.   The weather forecast is mixed for Saturday, Sunday and Monday;  Saturday cloudy but mostly dry, Sunday sunny spells with the chance of light showers... and holiday Monday  brighter with light rain showers.   

Work is going on apace at Earls Lodge and the foundations should be complete (concrete slab poured) by the end of next week.  The new build will then quickly take shape and there will be a ‘new’ vista to come to terms with.  


22.00    It’s raining at the moment and has been for a while; hope it isn’t dull and wet tomorrow.   Having said that, this was not a good day for me being active;  not good breathing weather, so I never went out in the afternoon:  but watched the workmen .... and did some more Kinneuchar kirk stuff.   The weather will dictate what I’ll be doing tomorrow;  it looks like I’ll be ‘working’ with the pens and pencils.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
