7th April 2023 (Friday)   09.30....It’s a gorgeous start to, what is forecast to be


an Easter holiday weekend of glorious weather.   I am going out on the bike after this update;  the roads will be busy so I’ll just make my way to Elie then potter my way through Elie Estate.   Enjoy your Easter weekend.   Oh... I forgot to mention;  we have a very boring sky; ‘wall to wall’ blueness!

22.30     Janice and Michael had an eventful trip to Livingstone;  they tangled up with a van on a roundabout near Thornton;   luckily nobody was injured but ‘sooper buggy’ spun round a few times... and ended up with a new identifying mark.   It was amazing that neither occupants nor vehicles had any major damage.   It was one of those 50/50 roundabout accidents with a good ending.


In the middle of the afternoon Emily, John and ‘JB’ appeared, seemingly out of the ‘bloo’, so I have had a busy and very enjoyable ‘Good Friday’.... but I am tired and well ready for bed.   Tomorrow will be a rest day;  but I will have a bit of updating to do on The Hutte.  Right now it’s bedtime.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
