Up early .....

31st October 2022 (Monday)   06.30 .... I’m ‘up’ and rarin’ to go  but sunrise


isn’t until 07.20 (though the Eastern sky is already brightening up); I’m thinking of taking the bike out this morning, instead of going to the beach, but it depends on how the shower situation looks.   We had a light shower about an hour ago.  

A wee bit o’ excitement this morning:  ‘Class One’ (Traffic Management Company) turned up at 06.30.... I think they intended taking down the signs and lights, but discovered that the ‘ole had still to be finished.  

09.00   After a bit of dithering I decided to go to the beach as there was a bonnie ‘light’ for the camera, and a nice morning for me to have  my slow daunder to the beach and back;  and I wasn’t disappointed.   I’m going to have breakfast, then a mug o’ coffee;  and make my mind up about going out on the bike.    The sky is beginning to cloud over and the wind freshen.... it's beginning to look 'iffy'.   There's a 'chance of precipitation' according to the forecast.


12.30   Who's been a busy ‘boy’?.... Alber has!  Ironing and housework took up most of my morning after I’d sorted out this morning’s batch of photographs.   After a light lunch I intend doing a wee bit of cutting back in the garden if the weather stays dry;  but .... I won’t be overdoing it;  even though I am feeling ‘good’.  

18.30    I am pleased with my gardening efforts this afternoon;   and I don’t think I too much.... but I do feel tired.   Actually I felt so good after the gardening, that I went up to Chapel Green on the bike.... so have had an active day.   The fact that we’re having a spell of mild weather is making me feel like doing things.   

I’m enjoying the fact that the villages are still busy; it means loads of people to talk too.


21.00    Halloween seems to be a really popular ‘celebration’ nowadays.... with houses completely covered in spider webs and ghoulish decorations.   They brighten up a rather dull time of year.   I’m now going to unwind after a busy day, by having the bedtime mug ‘o chocolate and browse the TV channels.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
