Manchester Arena terrorist attack ....

23rd May 2017 (Tuesday)....  09.00    The ‘News’ this morning is horrible;

   a terrorist attack in that killed 22 and injured a further 59 at the Manchester Arena.    The barbaric attack happened at the end of a concert by Ariana Grande;   innocent young folk enjoying themselves, brutally, and indiscriminately, murdered.  
    We have a mostly overcast morning, with a brisk South Westerly breeze.    Jimmy wants to go to Leven for a haircut so I’m in ‘flap on’ mode .... the door bell has ‘rung’.
22.30     Understandably, the atrocity in Manchester is the News;  other things have happened, but, ‘terrorism’ is on everyone’s mind today.    Unfortunately there is no

place on ‘Mother Earth’ safe from a warped mind.    My thoughts are with all those who mourn,  those worried about injured loved ones, and all those who were there and will have this terrorist act imprinted on their mind for the rest of their lives. 
      
Jimmy and I went to Leven as ‘planned’:   we did some shopping in the ‘Cheap Shop’, went to Sainsbury’s and had a cuppa, then Jimmy had his haircut.    We were back in Elie, and ensconced in the Sailing Club by 11.00.    The ESMS (Edinburgh Stewart Melville’s Schools) pupils were already out on the water, learning to canoe, wind surf... and other activities available from Elie Water Sports.  
 
Back at Ivy, after lunch I did some work on the rhone, and ‘engineered’ the brackets needed to level it off:   I should finish the repair work tomorrow and begin painting the

front wall .... er.. .. sometime soon.    That reminds me I’d better find out what I already have in the way of paint, and what I need.   I’ll probably get a fright when I find out the cost of paint nowadays.

Tomorrow might be the start of ‘Summer’.....    it is forecast to be warm and dry .... hot even!.... and, it could be better on Thursday.... unless we end up with an onshore breeze.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
