Windy ....
20th February 2022 (Sunday) 07.00 ..... Mmmmmm .... it’s wet and windy
(F6 out in the Firth) just now; the rain should move away fairly quickly, leaving us with the wind, which will then dry up the rain that fell overnight. We might even get a few sunny spells .... and it isn’t that cold. I’ll have another cuppa then go for the paper.
08.30 There was one heavy old squally shower just before I went for the paper, but the sky is looking much friendlier now, though there are plenty shower clouds about .... so the threat of showers is still with us.
Congratulations
to our curling girls who have won Gold in the Final of the Women’s curling
event, beating Japan10 – 3 in the Final.
The game is on the TV now; I saw the last two and a half ends in the
middle of the night. Knowing the result
before the watching the whole game will give my nerves a break.!
Of all the medals earned at the Winter Olympics all the cross country skiing events must be, physically, the hardest to earn: most of them collapse at the end. I know that all medals, in all the events, are all earned after years of hard work and dedication, but the Nordic type skiing events are, physically and mentally, something else. I am shattered having just watched the Nordic Women’s Nordic skiing.
21.00 I should be back to normal now... after two weeks of Winter Olympics, the
tele will now be ‘on’ only in the evenings. I’ve enjoy the Winter Olympics; it was great seeing competitors, from 91
different countries, all ‘under one roof’ as it were. It’s a pity politicians couldn’t get their
act together and work for the whole planet.... and not just their own
ideological ends. “The attainment of a
genuine peace should not be beyond the reach of human wisdom, inspired by human
goodwill”. Who said that?...it was
Winston Churchill, in the preface to the reprint of ‘The World Crisis 1911 – 1918’.
It looks like we are in for a windy week; tonight’s wind is to be with us until early
tomorrow morning, with tomorrow being a bonnie day. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all going to be windy. I hope to go out on the bike tomorrow. Today was a bonnie day .... in between the squally showers.
