Light frost ....


5th December 2018 (Wednesday) .... 07.30    We have an early morning
Sunrise time .... that was happening behind the clouds on the right.
frost with a thin layer of frost on the car;  a bonnie start to the day but the forecast is for rain by mid morning.    It looks like I’ll get my Christmas cards printed off today.

08.30    I was on the beach for sunrise but that was never going to be visible this morning;  not from out neck of the wood anyway ..... there was a big bank of clouds between us and the sun.   What we did get was bonnie, but it was also cold so I didn’t hang around.  


It started to rain at 10.30.... this was taken at 11.00.
12.30    It has been wet and miserable since 10.30 and looks like it will be thus for a bit yet.    I have been for the paper, and morning coffee:  except that I forgot to go for the papers.    I’m ensconced in ‘Ivy’ for the remainder of the day, hatches battened down, .... with the kettle on permanent stand- by.... so the papers will have to wait until ‘ra morra’.   I’m worried in case all the “Leven Mails” have been sold;  you never know there could be big run on “Leven Mails”.   

19.30    We have been really lucky in one way today:  we've had a dust free afternoon.    On the other hand it has been miserable and very wet;  not a day for doing much.    Not outside anyway.    I had a busy afternoon:  I cut my tae nails, .... and ... yes  I  did ‘oover up the clippings.    I then watched President Bush’s funeral.    Not the whole of it.... just bits now and again.;  until ‘Lovejoy’ came on.     It’s still ‘wet and miserable’ .... I know this ‘cos I’ve been out at the bucket.

Tomorrow morning I’m going to Leven;   George wants to do some shopping so I’m
Earlsferry High Street.
taking him with me.    We’ve got an early start because my appointment is at 09.00.    I’m also going for a haircut, and meeting George in Sainsbury’s later.

It looks like (going by the weather forecast) that we cold wake up to more dampness .... but not as bad as it has been today:  there’s even a chance of a few bright spells in the afternoon.    My ‘tomorrow morning’ is all taken care of, and in the afternoon we have the Drop in Cafe:  tomorrow is well planned.

7th May 2025 (Wednesday)    08.15 .... "Sunny intervals with a light breeze" is today's weather forecast for.... KY9, Ellon, Uckfield (Sussex) and London:  it's going to be a bonnie day all over the UK.  The breeze is from the Easterly direction so the East coast will be cooler; but it will be warm sheltered from the breeze.   It's a nice, peaceful kind of morning at Elie and Earlsferry:  the sky is a mix of fluffy clouds and blue bits, and the temperature is 11.6C just now.   3.3C was the minimum overnight.  20.30     I'd been reading about the cyber attack on M & S, Harrods and the Co-op... so, feeling inquisitive, for my morning 'mission' I decided to go to The Store (Ainster) and see how the 'attack' was affecting our local 'Store'.   The first thing I noticed was the car park wasn't as busy as normal and all the Disabled spaces were empty.  Inside the store,  the empty vegetable and fruit...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...

Overcast ....

3rd October 2025 (Friday)     10.30 .... It's a quiet morning; after a lot of overnight rain this is the calm before the storm.... 'Storm Amy', that is going to bring strong winds and heavy rain, this afternoon and Saturday.  It could be a good drying morning!   Anyway all is still at the moment.   I'm going to see if I can rescue a few of the apples that are still attached to the tree.    Actually I think I'll have morning coffee first. 04 12.30    We had a power cut  (45 minutes) last night ,so I unplugged the computer.    We got the torches and candles out, chatted for a while then went to bed.
