Dark morning ....
6th
December 2018 (Thursday)....
07.30 It’s still dark outside, and I
can’t see the stars so the sky has to be overcast. My
face didn’t get hit with any spits and spots o’ rain, so it isn’t raining.... and it isn’t frosty: hey ... we could have the start of a
reasonable day. I’m ready for
Leven.... and the car is pointing south so that I remember to go for George. Ye Gods.... I’m nearly organised. Orf to have breakfast.
'The Toft' - Elie, this afternoon. |
16.30 The trip to Leven was successful; I am now with The Bank of Scotland, having
transferred from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
There’s still a few bits to tweak but I’ll do that over the next couple
of weeks.
I
remember when Maggie and I opened our account with RBOS; it was in 1961. We were living in a rented flat in
Morningside (Edinburgh), and took a big sweetie jar of sixpences down to the RBOS
Branch at Morningside. I can’t remember
what the figure came to in pounds etc,
but I do remember the lassie counting all the ‘tanners’. It was with mixed feelings that I decided to
end our connection with RBOS, but I reasoned out that Maggie would probably have
done it when the Elie Branch closed.
I
actually remembered that I was going to pick up George this morning, but he had
to call off because he was feeling under the weather. After
the Banking thing I went and
had my hair cut.... then went to Sainsbury’s.
The sun sinking below clouds - half an hour before sunset. |
The
weather improved after lunchtime, and we ended up with a sunny, if breezy,
afternoon. I went to the Drop in Cafe,
which was quiet at first, but gradually filled up, and was busy when I left to
go down to the harbour. The wind had
freshened by this time so I didn’t linger long down there.
19.00 Jimmy’s son, Ian, dropped by this afternoon: he is going to bring along Jimmy’s post cards
so that I can sort them out. There’s a
lot, so it will be a good job to do in bad weather. That means I can start tomorrow.....
because tomorrow is going to be .... wellll .... not nice. We have a wind warning out for out area,
and it’s also to be wet. The wind is
forecast to be at its worst in the middle of the day.
