Overcast ....

2nd March 2021 (Tuesday)      06.30 .... ‘Light cloud and light wind from the


ESE’ is our forecast for today;   so, unless the sun breaks through, it could be cool all day.   Thankfully there won’t be much wind-chill.   

It’s still dark but ‘Blob’ is twittering away on top of the Rowan tree;  he starts his day earlier than I do mine.    I’ll go for the paper, in the car, and take a trip down to the harbour before making any kind of ‘plan’ for today.... though it’s looking like it could be a computer/TV, with a small touch of work in the garden, day.

08.00   Well.... I’ve been for the paper and to the harbour, but there isnae much happening anywhere.   It’s calm morning but cold;  I won’t be out on the bike but will go for a short walk after morning coffee.   The sky is grey all over and there isn’t any sign of it breaking up;  that might happen happen but I'm not thinking it will.

Activity at 'Four Winds'.

13.30   I’ve had a nice cosy morning, working in the kitchen, making some chicken casserole ready meals.    My next mission is ... after the cuppa that I am having just now ....  cleaning the outside and inside of the ‘computer room’ window.     It’s on the west side of Ivy Cottage therefore sheltered from the easterly breeze. 

  20.30    It has been overcast all day but at least it has been dry, and not that cold.    I went up to Chapel Green after I’d cleaned the computer room window;  I was surprised at how busy it was.    I had a conversation with Jenny (Gilderdale) who was out walking her dog;  they (Jenny and dog) brightened up what had been a lack lustre kind of day.  

It hasn’t been a great day for the camera but I got a couple of fishing boats, and a few general grey day shots.   The wind is going to be from the easterly direction for the next

West Bay - Earlsferry.

couple of days and I imagine the cloud will be too.  I’ll clean another window tomorrow, but it will have to be on the street side of the house, so, if it’s cold, there’s a good chance it will only be the inside that I clean.

It’s ‘chocolate time’;  I’ll make that, then browse the TV channels.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
