3rd March 2021 (Wednesday)      08.00 .... None of the Fife weather cams show

'Four Winds'.

encouraging pictures this morning.... everywhere is grey.   It’s certainly  not a morning for taking the car to Crail to charge up the battery;  which activity had began to form the seeds of a ‘plan’ last night.   Oh well .... computer, ‘ousework and TV it is.... with a ‘sortie’ out on the bike after morning coffee.

14.30     I’ve been busy:  I took the car to Elie for the paper and the baker then to ‘The Braes’ at Pittenweem for a change of scene.    The Car Park at ‘The Braes’ is still being used by workmen renovating the outdoor swimming pool, so I didn’t hang about;  just took a few photos then went to Elie Harbour before going home to a warm cuppa.

There was a message from Martin letting me know that ‘Four Winds’ is being demolished so, after a quick cuppa, I went up to Chapel Green on the bike to get a few photos of the action at Four Winds.    It was ‘denner’ time, for the Hymac driver doing the demolishing, so......nae action’.   I got a couple of shots just before he stopped so I’m happy;  and it’s too cauld to go out again this afternoon!    Another cuppa is called for.

21.00   Everyone I spoke too today has commented on how cold it was;  and it has been bitterly cold today .... the garden thermometer never got above 4c.    In spite of the cold I have had an enjoyable enough day.... but I’m looking forward to the sun again.    ‘Light cloud with a moderate breeze from the ENE’ tomorrow so the temperature is going to be much as it was today;   I might hibernate for a day.

I am becoming apprehensive about just how busy and overcrowded our wee villages

could be this summer:  I hope it isn’t going to be chaotic..... but somehow I think it might be.  At least the older generation will have had both ‘jabs’ before, then so should be reasonably ‘safe’ from a surge in COVID-19 cases.   I am looking forward to a sunny Spring and Summer, and to having ‘morning coffee’ in ‘arbour ‘ouse;  but not any viral ‘by product’ of a sunny Spring and Summer.   

Must ‘go’ .... slight flap on’:  got bedtime chocolate to make.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and f...

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good l...

The morning after 'Storm Eowyn' ....

25th  January 2025 (Saturday)     08.30 .....  Well .... that was one frisky wind yesterday Candlelight evening....Unfortunately not a romantic one! afternoon;   from 14.30 to 17.30 it was absolutely ferocious.    And I got some damage at Ivy Cottage;  a ridge tile blew off, slid down the roof and broke the rhone (guttering I thinks it's called now) so that will have to be repaired.  A Red Warning of wind means damage and that's what we have;  not only at Ivy but at other places around Elie and Earlsferry.... and over the whole area of the red Warning.   I only hope no one was injured by stuff being blown around in the wind.    It's the worst wind I have ever experienced in Earlsferry.   I have never felt so useless .... and helpless.    My neighbour Mathew came round to see if I was OK.... which I really appreciated;  I enjoyed talking to him.... it calmed me down a bit.  ...
