Calm morning ....

Image
31st October 2019 (Thursday)      07.30 ....   Wellll;    I got ‘up’ at my Pitching on to the 17th green. normal time to find that we have a calm morning .... I might get the bike out later:   that said I’m no’ iggzactly feeling frightfully frisky.... but friskier than I was yesterday.    This could be another bumble around quietly day I’m thinkin’.    I haven’t been anywhere further that the gate but we do have a nice start to the day.    Tomorrow and Saturday are going to be wet and not biking days.... so I’ll have to get the bike out sometime today.       12.00     The desire to eat is on me today so I must be on the mend.   I haven’t been anywhere but I have organised dinner;  sausages, mash and vegetables.  So far today I have done some work on the computer, had a quick look at the ‘News’ on the tele, and contemplated getting the bike out for a quick turn round ‘The Ferry’    I might do that after a lite bite lunch.....nothing much for lunch, because I am really looking

Overcast and wet ....

30th October 2019 (Wednesday)       07.30 .... I got all togged up to go to Heavy sky over Elie bay. the beach only to find it was raining.... not heavily , but definitely wet .    Not a morning for the beach .... but the sky is clearer to the Southeast so it could turn brighter later on.     The forecast isn’t that bad;   overcast with the chance of a few sunny spells later;   right now it’s overcast, wet and cold!    Orf to have another cuppa.... I overslept again and need something to get me into gear. 09.00     It’s the Colinsburgh ‘Lite Bite’ lunch today but  I'm feeling feeling ‘iffy’ .... I don’t think I should chance it.     I’ll phone Chrissie (who I was going to take to Colinsburgh with me) and see what she says.    Headaches are a dawdle, a couple of pills and everything is fine ..... not so with   the stomach.    I’ll potter around Ivy this morning and see how I feel in a couple of hours. Elie beach. 10.00     Well .... the sun has found a big gap in t

29th October 2019 (Tuesday)       07.30 .... My word.... I slept Kinneuchar. ‘in’ this morning;   so  didn’t   catch the sunrise.       A bank of low cloud meant it wasn’t visible anyway so I didn’t miss that but I missed the fresh Elie and Earlsferry air:  however  there’s loads o’ it going around so I’ll get that later.    Oh ... we have another lovely morning though it is cloudier, not frosty and not very windy.     Today is going to be less exciting than yesterday when I had the pleasure of Lynn’s company, showing   her our wee corner of Mother Earth.... I even remembered to mention ‘Elie’;   as we passed through.     Thank you Lynn for putting up with me for the day;    and for being such a good, and uncomplaining, listener.... I talk a lot! xx   Balcarres Estate. 18.30     I have had my share of fresh Earlsferry and Elie air today (and Kinneuchar and Balcarres) but I never did get to the beach.... however I went out in the car twice and had a couple of short walks

First frost of the season ....

28th October 2019 (Monday)      07.00 .... and   it’s a bonnie morning;   Sunrise over Elie Ness.   with   the first frost of the season on the car;  it looks like being a perfect day for showing Lynn round our wee villages.    Lynn has come all the way from California (is that no’ a warm kind of place?) and it looks like she will see our wee corner of the planet at its bonniest.    There’s isn’t much of a wind just now;   let’s hope it stays that way..... we don’t want any wind chill.    Must ‘go’ ... ever such a slight ‘flap on’ this morrrrrrrrning. 08.00   The beach was busy with dogs walking their owners this morning;   I met, and was talking to a lady from County Durham, who comes here often but this is the first time she's been here in late autumn.   She is lovin' it. Lynn at Elie Harbour. 17.00     I’ve just spent a most enjoyable and interesting day showing Lynn round ‘The Royal Burgh of Earlsferry’ .... and Elie;   and it was a perfect day for doing it.

er ... the clocks changed last night

Image
28th   27th October 2019 (Sunday)      06.30 ....   I’ve been ‘up’ since 05.10 Seven minutes past seven! owing to the fact that I forgot to change the clocks last night;     It was when I noticed that the computer clock had changed that I realised I was still on Ivy Cottage time.     Oh well you will catch me up when I change the clocks sometime today.      It would be cauld stood staunin’ oot side ‘arbour ‘ouse for an hour, so I suppose being at the correct time has its uses.     For me time is either daylight or dark. We have a breezy and cold morning;   it looks like we’re going to have another bonnie day, though we’ll have to wrap up again.    I might as well go to the beach before having breakfast ... then I’ll come up with an action plan for today. McCormick with an old plough rig attached. 08.00    The beach was quiet;   Carol and I had the whole beach to ourselves as far as I could see.... but it is a nice morning for a walk with plenty of fresh air for everybod

Gorgeous morning ....

26th October 2019 (Saturday)      09.00 .... As soon as I met Marcia and Lovely morning. Kirsty with the dogs I just knew that we were going to have a bonnier day;    regardless of the weather.      However the weather is also much brighter than it was yesterday   so I have had a really good start to my day.;   and I was feeling   ‘down’ when I left Ivy;   now I feel frolicsome.    I’ll get the bike out after breakfast ... and watching the rugby.....it’s that kind of day now.     13.30    I had a trip out on the bike up to Kinneuchar then home by way of Elie Estate;  it was enjoyable but cold on the lugs.   It’s a bonnie day but there is a chilly wind.... this would have been a better day to do the washing.   The bike is being charged up as I type;   I want a full battery for tomorrow in case the weather is amenable to my going for a longer run.... probably Balcarres.   I’m going to do a Soduko and have a cuppa in the Hutte... and most likely fall asleep. Kinneuchar this af

The missing hole ....

25th October 2019 (Friday)       08.00 ..... “sunny intervals and a Ferry Road. moderate breeze” is the forecast, a perfect drying day:   and there's  a washing in the machine..... I’m also contemplating finishing pruning the lilac tree.    I’ve only been as far as the gate, putting the bucket out, but I did notice that the moderate breeze is also a cool one, there's lot of cloud about, and that sunrise is not going to be visible;   that said it’s the kind of morning for wrapping up and being out in the fresh air.  ... and the lilac tree is outside!  14.00     My word ....I don’t think I have ever seen the road to Leven as busy as it was today.    There was a heavy load manoeuvring at Upper Largo which held up the traffic for a while but even after that was cleared the traffic was still slow, and heavy;    at one point I was at the tail end of along queue of traffic having caught up with it   .... usually The innards of the missing hole! I’m at the front causing it

Bright and breezy ... the weather i.e.

Image
24th October 2019 (Thursday)      08.00 .... it’s a bright and breezy Kinneuchar. morning , but not quite as cold as I thought it would be;   a nice morning for pruning a tree.     'The Boy' has been a lazy boy ....  didn’t get out of bed until 07.15.   After checking the weather cams at 06.00   I went back to bed.     I’m feeling reasonably frisky .... but, much in need of a cuppa then breakfast. 12.00     I’ve had morrrrrrning coffee with ‘The Team’, picked up my prescription and the paper, then went to the harbour.... because I thought it wasn’t that cold.    It was cold at the harbour.     On the way up I stopped at The Toft to take a few pictures, which is   where I met Val.    Val lived in South Africa so she was definitely finding it cold.... and so was I by this time, so I grabbed a few photos and went home by way of Kinneuchar.    I was in the car. Earlsferry and Elie. The lilac tree has been half pruned (I ran out of space in the broon’ bucket) and th

Colourful sunrise....

23rd October 2019 (Wednesday)     09.30 ....   It was bonnie on the beach Sunrise time over Elie Bay. this morning.... and not too cold.     When I first arrived on the beach there was hardly any wind, but it freshened as the sun came up.... so it was breezy by the time I came off the beach.    We had a colourful sunrise, in fact it was an interesting sky all round.     Now I suppose I’d better have breakfast. 15.00     While we were sitting having coffee in ‘arbour ‘ouse we were surprised ... no shocked would be a better word...   to see a, brand new looking, Fife Council gritter going past.    It hadn’t been frosty overnight and we didn’t think frost is in the forecast.    'The Boys'  suddenly felt colder and muchly disorientated by this gritter and Myra, the Team Leader, wasn’t there to console us as she was off getting her hair done.   In the end we decided that it was a new driver being shown the route or some such thing;   and went back to discussing somethin

22nd October 2019 (Tuesday)       07.00 .... there’s not much that’s more Breezy morning. annoying than a BT hub flashing orange when it should be a steady ‘bloo’.... and my hub is flashing orange.    It did that for much of the morning yesterday and looks like it’s going to be the same today:   ‘Openreach’ are working on cabling in the area so I guess we just have to put up with it.    It means that ‘The Hutte’ will/might eventually be uploaded sometime today. The sky is overcast just now and is forecast to be so most of the day, with a fresh wind from the Northwest.    Oh ... the hub has gone to 'bloo' I'll get online. 08.30      It’s definitely breezier today.... and cloudier, but a nice enough day in a different way.    The beach was quieter this morning in fact I only saw one group of people and they were along at the Breakwater.     Sunrise was never going to be visible this morning.... well not at sunrise time anyway though I do see some blue patches in the

Rires ....

21st October 2019 (Monday)     07.00 .... There’s the touch of winter in Lovely morning .... the air this morning.... the temperature being not much above zero;    it will be frosty   in the remoter regions of the parish... Kinneuchar and Colinsburgh for instance.       I haven’t been anywhere yet .... it’s still dark but I will venture to the beach for   some early morning air in a wee while... right now it’s cuppa time. 08.30     It a bonnie morning for being out, and the beach is the place to relax on what is a quiet, albeit cool morning.    Not too cold because one gent paddled his way along the edge of the tide;   now that would be refreshing.   We have the start of a bonnie day according to the weather forecast so let’s enjoy it.    I’ll get the bike out (once the air warms up) .... in time for morning coffee. Looking southeast from Rires Farm. 17.00    I had a really good trip out the bike today;    up to Rires and back a total distance of 17.09 kilometres (10.

20th October 2019 (Sunday)     07.00 .... It looks like being a nice day... Dog walker on Elie beach. maybe I should say it feels like being a nice day as I can’t really see what it looks like being that it’s still dark.     However I can see stars in the spaces between the clouds so that’s a good sign, and there’s a light northerly breeze, which will freshen when the sun rises, yes I think it will be a bonnie day albeit with a bit of cloud about and  I should get the bike out when the sun gets going... i f it can bumble it’s way above the clouds.   That’s all wrong you know:  it’s not the sun that’s climbing it’s the Earth that’s spinning round.... West to East.     I had planned to go to Balcarres today but tomorrow’s weather forecast is a better one (for Balcarres etc)..... less windy with sunny spells. Kinneuchar loch - new viewpoint. 08.30      I have been a busy boy, having done and hung out a washing.... and been for a quick daunder to the beach.    When I checked
