August 2019 (Saturday) 06.30 .... the sun is on its way up from

Lovely morning. |
New Zealand etc, on what is a bright, peaceful and dry morning... though heavy showers are forecast
for the afternoon; but they are hit or
miss.... hopefully miss today. Right
now there’s hardly a breath of wind but I have washing going though.... so a
breeze would be welcome. I’ll get the
bike out and go round the villages; the estate road will be muddy so I’ll skip
that. Must go ‘slight flap on’ .... the
kettle will have boiled.
09.00 It’s a cracker of a morning and I’ve been a
busy boy; The washing is on the line,
more to the point, I have been round the villages on the bike; from Chapel Green to the lighthouse. The grass is wet after all the rain and
there’s some water lying about but not enough to stop us enjoying Elie and Earlsferry. I now need a quick intake of calories before
we set off for St Andrews.

16.30 A lot has happened since this morning: we’ve to St Andrews and Michael and Janice
have their ‘wheels’ again.... and they brought home ‘vital necessities’, in the
shape of ‘Fisher and Donaldson’ Fudge Doughnuts. They’d also dropped in to the Bowhouse
Market on the way home so they’ve been around. Me?..... I came straight home from St
Andrews and have been ant watching from the Hutte. We have at least four Queens wandering
about, and a lot of wee ants tearing about all over the place....
aimlessly. At least it looks
aimless. One climbed up the frame of
the Hutte door, along the top (upside down) and down the other side; to what propose I do not know. Perhaps it’s the ‘Owlbert’ of the ant
world. Once again it is too warm for ‘the
boy’ to be out; Soduko’s it is. The ‘Troops’ are away along to Elie for a
walk. I’ve made a fresh cuppa and will
go and see what the ants are up to.
18.30 There’s a thunderstorm bumbling around
Edinburgh.... and across towards

Buckhaven.
At the moment we have heavy rain.
I'd brought the washing in when I saw the sky darkening. Now I’ll settle down for the evening; Janice
and Michael are ‘somewhere’ in Elie; sheltering
from the rain, in the ‘Buffet’. The
rain has cleared the ‘mauchless’ away;
now I’m feeling frisky .... and it’s raining.... sort of torrentially,
so I won’t be burning any of that energy orf on the bike this evening.
20.00 Michael and Janice were at the ship
watching the cricket; but managed to
stay dry. The thunderstorm over
towards Edinburgh is still rumbling away, with loads of lightning strikes
around Rosyth/ Dunfermline area. So
far we have been lucky and it looks like the storm is slowly moving
westward. Having said that there are a
few strikes around Aberlady Bay etc.
The forecast for tomorrow isn’t that good.... mostly overcast with light
rain now and again.
