"Red sky in the morrrning" ....

Image
31st August 2019 (Saturday)        07.30 .....    We had a colourful sunrise this Sunrise time this morrrning. morning, though I didn’t see the actual sun come over Elie skyline as it disappeared behind a low cloudbank;   however the pre-sunrise sky was what I wanted to photograph.    It was a “red sky in the morning” sky so we should expect ... probably wind and rain at times today.    It was fairly pleasant on the beach but a bit windy;   I had the monopod with me so that help negate the wind effect.     I’m a happy bunny .... and well ready for breakfast. 08.30      Blimey.... I’m glad I went to the beach to catch the sunrise;   it looks like that was the best of the morrrrrrning..... we have wind and rain now.     I think we are forecast to get sunny spells later but right now it is not a morning for being out. Earlsferry at sunrise time. 15.30 ...

Windy and overcast ....

30th August 2019 (Friday)     07.00 ....   when I first looked out this Bonnie in a different way. morning I thought it was raining but, although mostly overcast, it is dry.... and there are a few blue patches;   there's a slight chance of an  early morning sunny spell.     Having said that rain is forecast, and the western sky does have a ‘rainy’ look to it.    The wind, and there is a frisky wind, is from the south west and surprisingly warm.       09.30     Did I say it was warm?     Down on the beach I found out it isn’t as warm as I thought it was.... not when exposed to the wind.... and ... now that it’s raining it won’t be ‘the place to be’ today.   The sun is shining on the ‘sooth side’ of the Firth, but whether that will spread up to us remains to be seen.    “A clear sooth drooned the plooman” is an old saying, and the old sayings are usually f...

29th August 2019 (Thursday)      05.30   .... It’s a quiet kind of Pre sunrise sky over Elie Bay. morrrrrrrrning so I’m going to take a wander to the beach to see what kind of sunrise we get;    sunrise time being 06.08 for ‘KY9’ this morning.    There’s affair bit of clouds around but the early sky does look promising. 07.30    Apart from the usual birds, I had the beach to myself this morning;   which is not surprising considering the time.     It was an interesting pre sunrise sky and, though not spectacular it is always exhilarating watching the sky change:   it makes me feel irrelevant in the general scheme of things but really glad that I made the effort to be there.    One thing I must do is remember that it isn’t ’iggzactly’ warm at that time and dress accordingly;   heavy duty jacket etc.    Yes it was a bonnie start to the morning... even though there was a touc...

28th August 2019 (Wednesday)     07.00 ..... As you can see from the photograph we had a bright sunny start to Early morning sunlit Ferry High Street. the morning but it has rapidly clouded over from the West and it now looks like we could catch the edge of an early morning shower.   ‘Sunny intervals with a frisky breeze’ is the forecast for our area.... with the day ending with a bonnie evening. I’m ready to go to Leven to the Hairdresser’s, form there I’m going to Crail to pick up ‘M’ for the day and we’re going to visit Jim in the afternoon.     That’s the ‘plan’ at the moment.... but it could change. 21.30      Everything went to ‘plan’ today; even the weather.     I got my haircut, went to Crail and picked up ‘M’, stopped to visit M’s sister Edith and husband John in Cellardyke then went to Ivy for a cuppa before visiting ‘Jimbo’.      David was there and getting ready to go when ...

27th August 2019 (Tuesday)    07.00 .... everything is quiet and still, with Migrating Whooper swan leaving Kinneuchar loch. hardy a leaf stirring on the Rowan Tree;   we have another lovely morning at the Centre of the Universe.   It’s a bonnie start to what looks like being another warm and sunny day .... ‘sunny intervals and a gentle breeze’ is the forecast for KY9.... though it shouldn’t be as hot as it has been recently.   I’m going to have a cuppa then get the bike out.   I feel switched ‘on’ this bonnie morning. 09.30      Well .... we do have a cracker o’ a mornin’ though are more clouds about... and it is a little bit cooler.    I did The ‘Grand Tour’ in reverse this morning and was lucky (very) enough to catch a Whooper swan setting off from his/her overnight stop on Kinneuchar loch, to continue the journey to Iceland.        I saw the bird take off on f...

26th August 2019 (Monday)      07.00    ..... Ohhhh .... it’s overcast and The sun breaking through. breezy;   not ‘iggzactly’ what I was expecting, but at least it’s dry .... and warm:     the forecast is for us to have ‘sunny intervals with a moderate breeze’.     I’ll leave the biking until later .... once the sky breaks up;  I'm feeling quite frisky this morning.   08.00     The early morning weather is slightly disappointing and especially noticeable after the brilliant day yesterday.   I haven’t been anywhere but have done some housework and had breakfast.... now I’m going to have another cuppa and concoct a ‘plan’ for this afternoon.      09.30    I ended up wandering down to the beach to see the sun breaking through the clouds... by the time I came off the beach it had,....  and it was warm and sunny.   It’s going...

Autumnal mist ....

Image
25th August 2019 (Sunday)       07.00 .... it’s a real misty autumn The Ferry beach. morning.... the start of a warm/hot day I imagine..... and the kind John Keats had in mind when he wrote ’To Autumn’.    It’s cool just now, but the sun will burn back the mist and we’ll be roastin’... the   ants (lasius niger ) will be scuttlin’ aboot all over the place .... and I’ll be workin’ like the clappers in the garden.     ? ... workin’?.... I don’t think so.     Anyway we have a lovely start to the day even though it is misty..... I’m going ‘out to play’. 10.30     My word.... it is a cracker of a mornin’;  yes ... it’s still a bit misty now and again, but mostly it’s hazy, warm/hot.    I’ve been out, and a lot of others too, enjoying the morning..... it was one of those misty autumnal mornings with the panorama constantly changing before your eyes.    I did ‘The G...

24th August 2019 (Saturday)     07.00 .... We have a really quiet morning, Kincraig cliffs - Earlsferry.   It's a cracker of a morrrrrrning! the sky is clearing though there is clouds towards the West, there’s hardly any breeze at all, and, once the sun gets higher in the sky is will be warm;  another ‘play’ day.  The forecast for KY9 is ‘sunny intervals’ with a gentle breeze’.   I have a washing going through the machine .... so it’s not going to be all ‘play’ today. 10.00     I am a ‘happy boy’ this morrrrrrning, having done ‘The Grand Tour’ on the bike and took a multitude of photographs on the way round.     If they turn out the way I set them up in the view finder I should have some reasonable ones.     I’ll check them properly after breakfast .... and ‘morning coffee’.... I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far.    I’m running late because I was out for nearly two hours;...

23rd August 2019 (Friday)     07.00 .... the rain has moved away and we Balcarres crag tower .... a mandatory photograph for me. have a bright and breezy morning.... and not cold considering the briskness of the breeze;   a nice start to the Bank Holiday weekend.    It isn’t holiday weekend in Scotland;    we had our August Bank ‘oliday on the first Monday (the 5th).     Sod that .... I’m having a Bank ‘oliday this weekend too.     It’s a ‘play weekend’ .... bring on the sunny intervals .... long ones:  one   12 hour long one would be good.    Orf to have another cuppa. 20.30      We did have along sunny spell, near enough the whole day .... and it was warm, even with the brisk breeze.     I went up to Balcarres and pottered around some of the old corners, eventually joining the main road at Balniel Farm from where I scampered all the way down to Robin G...

22nd August 2019 (Thursday)       07.00 ....   There’s a   nice peaceful ‘feel’ Kinneuchar loch this morning .  to this morning;    I think I’m feelin’ romantic.... or something.      We have a few clouds around but it looks like being a long sunny spells kind of morning:    rain is forecast for later in the afternoon, so the ‘plan’ is to play in the morning;,    then    sleep  .... oops I mean ‘work’ in the afternoon. 09.00   My word .... it is a cracker o’ a mornin’ and I have enjoyed a really good bumble up to Kinneuchar, then home through the Estate, stopping to admire the new work shed that Stewart now works out of/in:  I had to go that way because there was a lorry unloading stuff at the new house being built next to George’s residential HQ.    I got some good loch photographs.... at least I think they should be good, but I haven’t ...

Bonnie morning ....

21st August 2019 (Wednesday)        06.30   ..... it is a lovely This morning . morning, mostly cloudy with occasional sunny spells, and it shouldn't be cold because there’s only a light breeze.    Off to get the bike. 09.30     It’s lovely ‘out’ but chilly on the hands;   there’s a touch of Autumn in the air:   that said, once the sun gets going it should be warmer.    I did the ‘Grand Tour’ this morning and met Stewart (at the harbour), then the lovely Primrose going down to the harbour, and saw Jock cleaning the brasses.    It was all go in the villages this morning.    Actually the villages are quiet for this time in August. Kinneuchar loch. The loch was looking like a mirror....alas, the sun was hidden by clouds when I was there.    ‘The Beast’ has chomped up a few more of the rhododendrons that were encroaching onto the road.    Stewart was tell...
