Cherry blossom time ....

30th April 2019 (Tuesday)       07.30     it looks like we are going to have Misty morning. another day like yesterday;    overcast at first, followed by sunny spells when the sun burns the cloud off .... and cool in the, seemingly persistent, easterly breeze.    I have only been as far as the front gate but I’ll have a tour round the ‘Royal Burrow Burgh’ on the bike, .... after another cuppa. 21.00     It’s been a busy day for this boy;   and the weather has been nice, but mistier.     My morning began with a trip round the ‘Royal Burgh’ on the bike before breakfast;   and after breakfast I went to Leven to visit Jim.... and do a shopping.     Jim was very communicative at all today, but he’d just had breakfast, and was nigh on asleep.     I’d taken in a couple of custard tarts for us to have with our coffee, but Jim was not really in the mood, so I sat for a while talking to one of the other residents, before bumbling off to do the shopping. Letham Glen - Leven . I

29th April 2019 (Monday) .... 07.30     at this precise moment we have a St Monans. grey sky with a light easterly breeze;   not quite as bonnie as it was at this time yesterday.     However the sun should burn the cloud back to give us another ‘sunny and warm’ afternoon, albeit with a cool onshore breeze/wind.      I’m feeling active;   whether that will develop into actually ‘being active’ remains to be seen.      I had thought of biking up to the loch, but the light breeze is enough to ruffle the water, so ‘nae reflections’:     There’s a good chance that the windows will be finished today. 20.00    The wind freshened at about the same time as the sky cleared, so, although sunny, the wind took a few degrees off the temperature:   it would be warmer in the West of Fife .... and beyond.    We did get up to 14c in the garden, so I did some more weeding and stuff.    I did the outside of the kitchen windows first thing; then went along to the ‘Deli’ for morning coffee with the g

28th April 2019 (Sunday) .... 07.30    This is a quick update before I go out Chapel Green, Earlsferry - from The Terrace, Elie. on the bike.     It’s a perfect morning for being out, and I fancy biking through the fresh greens of Elie Estate.   I haven’t forgotten the kitchen windows.... they’ll be fitted into the ‘plan’ after I get back.   We have a lovely start to the day;   long   sunny spells with only a smirr of a breeze from the east. 21.00    My word .... we’ve had a glorious ‘sunny and warm’ day at the Centre of the Universe .... and I have enjoyed it.    I did bike through the estate and was rewarded for the effort by getting some of the best photos of the loch that I’ve ever taken.   On the way home I stopped at The Terrace, plonked my butt on a seat, (after I’d dried it off) (not my butt ... the seat) and watched the tide coming in for 20 minutes:  I am an expert in the art of ‘tide watching’.    Deidre, who was being taken for a walk by her dog, stopped for a ch

27th April 2019 (Saturday) .... 08.30     It was raining when I looked out at Big clouds over Kinneuchar village. 05.00 so I went back to bed, and read a bit of my book and finally got ‘up’ at 06.30.     By that time the sky was breaking up, the rain had stopped, and we now have sunny spells and showers:    it looks like being a bonnie day, with the possibility of interesting clouds. 12.00    I’ve taken advantage of the sunny, and warm, morning and started to clean the windows.... outside and inside;  but, it’s hard work, so I had to take a break for coffee, and to buy a paper.    As I thought might happen, we have some big clouds developing towards the West of Fife;  this probably means that showers could be heavy.    With a bit of luck any showers that develop will stay in the West! I’m going to clean the inside of the ‘Withdrawing Room’ window then have something for lunch. It has been a bonnie morrrrrning. 19.30    I hung out a washing at lunch time:  it was a bon

26th April 2019 (Friday) ..... 08.00     We have a bonnie start to the day .... a "Good Morning" from the Royal Burgh. mix of clouds and sunny spells.    Although not very windy the air feels cool.     That was at 05.30 .... when I went to the beach to catch the sunrise at 05.40.    The sunrise wasn’t particularly exciting, but there was an interesting ‘light’ all around.... especially towards the west.    I took a few photographs... and I am pleased with the results.     Now I need to have breakfast.   22.00     This has been a ‘long’ day and I  have enjoyed every minute of it.   The only work I did was to take a load of garden rubbish to the ‘dump’.... oops ... now the re-cycling Depot at Pittenweem;  this was done on my way to Harbour House for ‘mc’.    Nope .... that’s not quite right;   I went for morning coffee on my way back from the dump.   The original ‘plan’, when I left Ivy, was to go Harbour House, but I was far too early so went to the dump first.    Yep

25th April 2019 (Thursday) .... 07.30    I don’t know where the BBC got Kincraig cliffs Earlsferry. their weather forecast from, but right now we have sunshine and a lot of ‘bloo’ sky.   It was grey and misty at  05.30 right enough,  but it’s nice enough just now;  I’ve even taken the bike out. 09.00    It’s an absolute cracker of a ‘sunny and warm’ morning now;   I’ve been up to Chapel Green on the bike.     Right now there’s hardly any wind, so there’s no wind chill.     Lovely.     I assume that the ‘light rain’ the forecast mentioned will   come our way (maybe) later in the afternoon, so I’m going to enjoy ‘playing’ in the sunshine when I can. Elie... from Chapel Green. 16.30    I don’t believe me .... all morning I’d been looking forward to the ‘Drop in Cafe’:   so, what do I do?..... I get involved doing something else and forget all about the ‘Cafe’.    What was I doing?    Having been ‘out playing’ most of the morning, I was resting in the Hutte, doing a Soduko,

24th April 2019 (Wednesday) .... 08.30      We have a different ‘sky’ this The sunrise sky this morning.   (Dust from the Sahara) morning (well ... the sky is the same it’s the clouds therein that are different) .... there’s a pre   thundery shower look to it;    showers more likely to happen on the south side of the Firth than here.... I hope.     The very first thing I noticed when I went out, was an acrid smell in the air... and the need to have a couple of puffs of the ‘bloo’ inhaler.    On checking, I found that the pollution level for our area is ‘medium’.... which explains  the need for the inhaler.     We do have an interesting sky, a brisk, cool, ESE wind.... and, with a bit of luck, we might get the odd short sunny spell now and again.      Slight ‘flap on’ now;    I see that ‘someone’ has left a bonnie set of sandy footprints all over the carpet.     Need to ‘oover! 23rd April 2019 (Tuesday) ....   “Happy St George’s Day”   to all my pals Elie -  this evening. south of the border... enjoy your especial day. 08.00    We have a hazy start to the day at the Centre of the Universe.... with a brisk easterly wind, but it isn’t a biting cold easterly ;   having said that, it isn’t warm either.     I biked up to the Chapel Green, just to get some fresh air;   and I certainly got plenty of that.     It’s a nice enough morning, and the sun should burn the haze off, but the east wind will be with us all day .... in fact for the next few days.... so it will be cool;   but a great drying day.     I need to eat something. 21.30     When I was ‘eating something’ this morning (I’ve eaten a lot of something’s since then) I remembered that I had new specs to pick up in Leven, so .... that’s what I did:  went to Leven.      I decided to make a morning of it.... do a shopping, visit Jim, and pick up the specs.    As is happened the specs weren’t in, proba

22nd April 2019 (Monday) .... 09.00     It’s a beautiful morning again (we Kinneuchar kirk ....  and loch. could get used to this summer like weather) so I biked through Elie Estate on my way to the ‘Paper Shop’.     I met one bird watcher at Kinneuchar loch,....   both of us enjoying being out in the early morning.     The loch was still and peaceful;     that said male swan (Cob) was keeping an eye on an immature swan that was on the edge of his territory.     The peace could have rapidly changed if the immature hadn’t paddled a hasty retreat over the territorial boundary... and out of harm’s way.     I guess swans must have boundary marks, either in their heads, or physical marks on the loch side.     I am now back at Ivy for the remainder of the day ..... well,   until evening time when I might go to the beach. Elie House. 21.30   This morning’s bike run, through Elie Estate, was the first time I’d been round the estate since way back in November.   I didn’t notice any

Easter Service at the harbour .....

21st April 2019 (Sunday)    ....   07.30     We have yet another nice morning; Around 60 people turned up for the Easter service at Elie Harbour.    it is overcast just now, but warm/hot sunny spells are forecast.        There is a light breeze from the SW so it isn’t cold,....     the garden thermometer is already at 9.5c.     It feels like the afternoon could be another hot one. I’m going down to the harbour for the Easter Service.... after a quick cuppa. 14.30    Oh my word.... it is cosy out there.   I’ve had to come inside, it’s just too hot to work.... or even sit in the Hutte.    The temperature is 22.5 just now.... and it won’t be much cooler down on the beach.    Most of the morning... in fact all of it was spent either Easter services or eating.     The service at the harbour was really good.... and the air was warm, unlike last year when it was freezin’.    It was well attended;   the singing was excellent.   The service lasted about 20 minutes.    The sermon was

20th April 2019 (Saturday) ....07.30       There’s a light breeze from the West Kincraig cliffs - Earlsferry. this morning;   so, for those with a tendency to ‘hay fever, the high pollen count could be bothersome today, as another hot day is forecast. 09.00   It’s a quiet morning so I’ve been out on my bike ... for a turn round the ‘Royal Burgh’.   All the moving bits of the bike are functioning as they should;  and, more surprisingly, so are mine.     I will bike up to the 'paper shop'.... and  come home via Elie Estate..... maybe.       12.00    Wellll .... the first thing I had to do when I got back from Elie was tighten the bike handle bars.... that’s one bit of the bike that shouldn’t be moving.     It made for an interesting run along to Elie!    Funny .... I never noticed that they were slack (I’d slackened the handle bars off to adjust them .... and hadn’t tightened properly) when I went round the village this morning;  though I did think the bumps on the

19th April 2019 (Friday) .....   09.00    Our weather is just as the forecasters ...... perfect day for the beach. said it would be;    sunny.      In our case it’s hazy, with a cool breeze off the North Sea.     It should become warmer later, but we’ll be plagued with the cool breeze all day.    It will be warm in Ivy garden.... and anywhere sheltered.     There is a pollen warning, though I doubt if that will apply to us with the wind direction being what it is.    19.30   It has been one cosy day: 20c in Ivy garden this afternoon.    But I can cope with this, having learned to do so in Cyprus.    It’s simple;  don’t do anything.... and that I am good at! My word... what a pleasant surprise I got this morning.    Monica and Alistair were bold enough to have one of my photographs printed onto canvas;   and it looks amazing:  so amazing that I am going to have some done, the same way, to hang in Ivy.  When I’m old, I’ll be able to enjoy having a cuppa surrounded by some pic

18th April   2019 (Thursday) .... 09.30     It’s a quiet, hazy kind of morning That's George on the bike - making for Harbour House. here;    there is a light breeze from the southeast.    This could be a good day for working:   after morning coffee etc.     I’ve already done some computer work .... after a serious conversation with my new Epson printer .... I was able to print off a trial card, for Geoff to have a look at this morning.      I’m feeling mildly industrious.... and should feel exceptionally industrious after coffee in Harbour House.     Must go slight ‘flap on’.... I need to eat something. 19.00      It was 16c in Ivy garden this afternoon;   but it wouldn’t be as warm as that down on the beach.    Actually I haven’t been to the beach today, so I don’t know how warm it was;   all I know is that there was a cool southeast wind outside Ivy Cottage gate. Barnyards Marsh. The villages seemed busy today;   well,... Ferry Road was.   Of course this is
