Wall to wall blue sky .....

30th August 2024 (Friday)    09.00 .... we have a beautiful, bright and breezy morning, with a

Prepared and ready to prime the bare bits.

wall to wall bloo sky, but there is a light haze round the horizon.   It's a gorgeous morning..... and the forecast is good for the whole day ..... and tomorrow!    The frisky westerly breeze is cool, but it's really warm sheltered from the breeze.... that means I might have morrrrrrrrrrning coffee on the patio.

21.30    With it being a lovely day for painting (as in painting a window) I decided , now that the garden has been reinstated so bonnie, that I'd paint the wee bedroom window, the only window that looks out onto the patio.   It wouldn't be hard work, but would involve some hirpling around and standing painting;  that would  at least be some kind of exercise, being that I can't use my usual form of exercise;  the bike.

Instead of morning coffee on the patio I'd paint the window!    The first thing to do was organise everything required for the 'job';  by this time I was looking forward to doing something, not overly strenuous, but would  make me feel ... well useful.   I'd probably be tired at the end of  the day (I wasn't going to  hurry this job) but, by this time, I was looking forward to doing it.  The first thing I did was,  put the kettle 'on' and have morning coffee on the patio.

Having eventually organised all the bits and pieces I required (and found the missing dust pan shovel) I was about to clean the glass.... but remembered in time not to do that because the water would wet the wood and I wouldn't be able to prime it.  (I'm using old fashioned Dulux oil paint).   I scraped and sandpapered  it.... had another cuppa, before taking the lid off the paint tin and stirring up the paint.   That brought a lot of memories out of some long forgotten corners of the brain I can tell you:  including happy times as an apprentice on Balcarres Estate!

Ready for puttying where required then undercoating!

22.00    I've been speaking to Alice on the phone and she 'is fine' after falling when running for the bus yesterday.   In fact she made a 'clootie dumplin' today:  I'll have to make my way to Methil.... probably on Sunday, as I have, would you believe it.... a summer cold!   I'll spend tomorrow pottering about with the bedroom window;  starting with cleaning the glass, inside and outside.   I'm going to paint the inside of the window eventually.      Tomorrow is going to be a bonnie day.... a good day for me pottering around  with a window..... and shaking off the cold.
