Warm and overcast .....

4th July 2023 (Tuesday)    “Happy 247th Independence Day” to all my friends in the good old US of A.

07.00 .... the sky is overcast and there’s  some mist around but it’s warm ... and  isn’t


raining.    The weather forecast is ‘light rain showers with a gentle breeze’.... so we could have a nice enough day if the showers are few with (hopefully) frequent sunny spells.  I’m looking forward to a 'nae flap on' day.... I might go out in the evening .... if it's sunny.  Unfortunately the wind has veered to the East and the weather is coming off the North Sea.

08.00    I went for the paper (in the car) and visited the harbour;  the light rain mentioned in the weather forecast began when I was at the harbour so I didn’t linger.... just took a few photos to record the weather.... then back to Ivy for breakfast.

19.45   The weather has not been very agreeable today ....in fact it has been miserable.   Luckily I had Jo visit me in the morning, and we had a good ‘catch up’ over morning coffee.   I then had  Stage 4 of the ‘le Tour’ after lunch.   Today’s stage wasn’t very exciting....the action came at the end with the sprinters.... but the scenery and the wee villages they passed through were interesting;  and I did the ironing when watching it.   The weather was that dreich that I never went out to The Hutte to ‘work’.... I like the cheeriness of the sun when working out there.  


21.00    It has been one of those days that made it hard to be enthusiastic about doing anything;  however I did have one bit of unintentional excitement.   As I said earlier Stage 4 wasn’t ‘iggzactly’ exciting but I sat down to watch it when having a cuppa... taking a break from the ironing/’ousework.   I fell asleep nursing the cuppa.... I’m sure you can guess what happened!   Luckily I had drunk most of the content.... but what was left was wet and necessitated a change o’ breeks and boxers.  I must have been really tired because I rarely ‘nurse’ a cuppa on my lap.

 Our weather is going to be brighter tomorrow (it would be hard not to be brighter than

it was today).... with ‘light rain showers and a gentle breeze’ being forecast for KY9.   Thursday looks like being the next day I’ll be out on the bike.

I’m going to have my bedtime chocolate and browse the TV channels;  but I’ll most likely end up in bed with my book.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
