Misty ....
13th May 2023 (Saturday) 07.00.... low cloud has drifted in from the North
sea at the moment, ...on what is a quiet and very peaceful kind o’ mornin; but chilly. The weather forecast is....‘sunny with a gentle breeze from the Easterly direction’.... no mention of precipitation so it will be a good drying day.; and warm in the sun (as long as haar doesn’t come in). I’m tempted to go out on the bike but will wait until the sky is wall to wall blue..... and the air warmer.
13.45
The builders (bricklayers) have been working
hard this morning and I have wall round the garden again. The retaining wall on the North side is in
place with the concrete poured into
hollow blocks; fascinating seeing it all
suddenly happen. I’ll take photos
later; right now I’m going to get ready
to go to Kirkcaldy.... so I’ll get the photographs in the evening.
The sun has broken through and we have a lovely afternoon now; it’s warm but not too hot. I have been working too, as you can see from the above photograph of the Ground Floor plan. There’s still work to be done but you get the general idea of what was there before the present kirk: and how the Reformers adapted the pre Reformation kirk to suit the new ‘way of doing things’. Must ‘go’.... ever so slight ‘flap on’.
20.30 It has been a beautiful afternoon....and we
had a lovely High Tea at the Victoria Hotel (Kirkcaldy courtesy of Theresa and
Sandy who were treating Alice for her birthday (Monday). The Victoria Hotel is beautiful ... especially
internally. The woodwork in the room
we were in was ‘out of this world: which
is hardly surprising considering the house was built for AH McIntosh the
furniture manufacturer, with the family living there until 1944.
No ‘plan’ for tomorrow.... but I might get out on the bike first thing in the morning as the
wind is going to be light.... and from the Southwest. It depends on how ‘brave’ I feel.... and how cold the air feels.
