In playful mode ........

15th March 2023 (Wednesday)   08.30.... It’s cold this morning but (-1C) not


as cold as I’d expected it to be.... a bonnie start to a ‘play day’.   I’m feeling refreshed, in fact I feel almost spritely, after an unbroken night’s sleep (8 hours).    My intention is to go for the paper.... and make an appointment with Lorraine to have my hair cut.  

17.00   I’ve had a busy day.   I p0icked up the paper(s) (and two bananas), as planned,  then had a walk round to the Memorial corner to do a spot of reminiscing:  I then noticed that Geoff’s name has been added to the Memorial.... so I did a bit more reminiscing.   It’s a nice quiet corner to just sit and think.    I then went to Lorraine’s (Hairdresser) to make an appointment... and got 12.20.    I had a quick trip to the harbour and was back at Ivy for morrrrrrning coffee, and to fire up the computer to sort out my photographs, before going back to Lorraine’s  to get my hair cut.


Lorraine was busy;  Barbara was in the chair, and Vicki was waiting for some stuff on her doing whatever it was doing.... so I was ‘done and dusted’ after Barbara, and came out looking what I thought was irresistible  I wasn’t!    However I did find out that the Colinsburgh Lite Bite Lunch was today so I louped intae the car and went for lunch.  As ever the food, company and chat was excellent and I came away feeling frightfully frolicsome.

When I got back to Ivy Shona appeared to we had a cuppa and bit ‘o’ cake while putting the world to rights.   Barbara was passing and told me that the ‘Scottish Community Air Ambulance had been called out to an accident at the bottom of Golf Club Lane, and was ‘parked’ near the 18th green.   Shona I walked up to the phone box from where I took a few photos of the Air Ambulance for the Alberto Archive.  I hope the driver involved in the accident is not badly injured.

21.00    It’s raining, and is forecast to do so all night and into tomorrow morning...


so cleaning the car for its service was a waste o’ time.  I’m going to have a shower now, then make the chocolate and browse the TV.  I have an early start tomorrow and the roads will be busy so it will be an early night in bed with my book.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
