Lovely morrrrrrrrrrning ....
4th October 2021 (Monday) 08.00 .... it’s a lovely morning, though there is
a fair amount of cloud around. We had a red sky last night so we should have a ‘nae bad’ day. The bikes have been fully charged and I think the ‘plan’ is to bike to Maud: the former Buchan railway line (Aberdeen to Fraserburgh etc) is now a cycle route/walkway. It looks like being a good day for biking.... not nearly as windy as it was yesterday.
Iain and Jackie at Gardenstown harbour.
19.30 We’ve had a lovely day... it has been
breezy but nothing like it was yesterday.... so we decided to go to Gardenstown
in the afternoon; it’s an interesting
place, with a fishing history.... and still has a number of creel boats in the
harbour. It has been warm .... 17C at
one time .... sheltered from the brisk breeze.
The
Aberdeenshire roads, we have travelled on so far, are seriously lacking in
decent pot-holes. On the bike I never
had to avoid one .... and I only noticed two from the car, and they were pathetic
looking things. There’s no doubt Fife must be near the top of the pot-hole league; I then started to wonder what would happen
if ‘panic buyer’ started buying canisters
of yellow spray paint: would the Fife
pot-hole mending programme have to be put on ‘hold’? Anyway we’ve had a very enjoyable day out....
in spite of the lack of pot-holes.
I
see that Brexit is in Britain’s ‘long term interest’.... it certainly has been a

to now. It will all sort
itself out when ask we rejoin the EU in 20 years or so; if they let us.
