Cool but dry ....

Image
30th June 2020 (Tuesday)     06.30 ... I have a washing going through the 'Our Christine' working in Elie Bay. machine;     the good news being that today’s rain isn’t forecast to arrive until later in the afternoon, by which time the washing should be dry.     At the moment we have a cool breeze from the West with ‘attractive’ looking clouds.... hopefully that’s all they are ....’attractive’ and not ‘active’ as far as dropping their contents go.     The roads are dry so I hope to get out on the bike after breakfast. 12.00     I have been keeping an eye on the weather and managed to get my, very nearly dry, washing in before a shower of rain came over ... the rain wasn’t supposed to happen until 16.00.   Naughty clouds.    However I am a happy boy .... my new camera is on its way and should be here tomorrow.     I’ll have a ‘lite bite lunch’ the do some research. I’ve been out on the bike and went through Elie Estate where I found the road drier than I’d expected:

29th June 2020 (Monday)    06.30 ....Sunrise was a couple of hours ago but Elie High Street. you would hardly know it;   my word we   have a grey, wet and bleak looking morning.... I must get a few ‘bleak look’ photos.     The grey sky should lighten and break up a bit over the morning ....a few sunny spells should bumble over and we could have an interesting sky.    Slight flap on got to go for the paper!     At the moment it looks like being a ‘computer stuff’ kind o’ day;   a good day for researching   Chrissie and Margaret Dunsire’s trip to the Antipodes.... however I have a feeling it could be a bonnie enough day.... but showery 08.30      My word it is a gorgeous morning.     It was a ‘bad hair day’ when I first went out (wind and heavy rain) but the sky was beginning to break up from the West making it very photogenic;     by the time I came out of the ‘paper shop’ the rain had stopped   and the sky was breaking up.    I’m excited.     Must go .... need another cuppa

Windy and wet ....

28th June 2020 (Sunday)      08..00 .... I feel in an adventurous mood but the Wet and windy. weather forecast for us is “light rain with a fresh breeze”, and that is exactly what we have so ... no adventure today.     I’ve been to Elie (in the car) but the papers hadn’t been delivered so I went o the harbour,    What a difference a day makes;    goodbye Scottish summer.... welcome Scottish autumn, because that’s what it looks and feels like this morning;   it’s windy wet and cooler.    The sky does lighten occasionally so the sun may break through but it doesn’t look promising.... though the late afternoon evening might just have a few sunny spells'.   I am  going to settle for a day at the computer,   doing Sudoku's  and havin’ a cuppa now and again. 13.30      The rain stopped for a hour (round about 10.00) so I got the bike out and went for the paper and just got back to Ivy as the rain started again.    Which was perfect as battery assisted bike don’t like   too mu

Misty and humid ....

27th June 2020 (Saturday)       10.00   .... Once the thick fog clears away we Elie harbour. could have a nice day though light showers are forecast for the afternoon.      My word ... I did enjoy the paper run this morning having got a load of ‘Elie on a foggy morning’ photos; 105 to be exact (after I dumped any I didn’t like).    It’s one of those really peaceful mornings;    the water wasn't flopping   onto the sand....just rising like someone (soundlessly) filling a bath.    It hasn’t all been good because I’ve had another migraine (weather):    there was a huge thunder storm off the coast from Fife up to Fraserburgh.   .   The storm is now petering out over Orkney and the Pentland Firth.     It’s the migraine season. 18.30      The second heavy shower (with thunder and lightning) this afternoon certainly cleared my head.... and washed Ferry Road;   a lot of water fell in a very short time.    In between the showers it lovely with loads of interesting clouds.... but y

26th June 2020   (Friday)      06.30 .... it’s misty and humid;      not the maist Looking towards Earlsferry from The Toft. exciting looking morning.... and there’s yellow warning for heavy thundery showers, from midday through to tomorrow at 09.00.     There are already lightning strikes in Northwest of England and the Southwest of Scotland so it looks like the thundery showers will reach us as per forecast.    Orf to get the paper. 08.00      The fog is thicker than I thought at first.... a nice enough morning otherwise.    I changed my mind and took the car up for the paper (thought it needed a run);   the bike will be staying in The Hutte today I’m thinkin’ because it looks like rain isn’t far away and I started the morning with a migraine. The beach at 09.30. 11.00     I’ve been out on the bike (which is now being charged).... only round the villages to get a few foggy’ photos, but it was enjoyable, having met and talked to Anne (Dunlop) on the way along Liberty t

25th June 2020 (Thursday)      07.00 .... There’s a cool easterly breeze and Kincraig cliffs. it’s misty so it’s unlikely to be as warm as it was yesterday.... not on the coast anyway;   it will be hot further inland .... at Colinsburgh and Kinneuchar..    It’s a bonnie enough morning just the same but cooler;   I know this because I’ve been up to Chapel Green.    The fog will clear away quickly.       It will be hot in Ivy garden and that’s where I’ll be after I go for the paper... I might even pull a couple of weeds. Lovely morning. 08.30     The mist has cleared and we have a lovely day... albeit a wee bit cooler than yesterday.     I’ve been for the paper and   down to the harbour then through the estate:    apart from litter everything is where it should be.   I’d have picked the litter at the harbour but it would be contaminated and I didn’t have a picker with me.      The estate road was quiet this morning....only one jogger and one dog walker. The ‘plan’ is to

Sunny and warm ....

24th June 2020 (Wednesday)       06.30 ....It’s sunny and already warm this The Breakwater. morning;   a lovely start to what is going to be a hot day.    There’s a   thin layer of high cloud but that will burn off quickly.     Pollen is VH , Ultra Violet H (note to me – sun cream) with Pollution 'L'.  I’ll get the bike out but not in the afternoon.     At the moment the light breeze is from the southwest but is forecast to ‘back’ towards the east later in the afternoon/evening.    Must go slight flap on.... there’s a lovely morning to be enjoyed. 10.00     It is an absolute cracker of a mornin’:   I’ve been for the paper, via the Breakwater and the harbour then home by way of Elie Estate.    The villages were quite though I met one of the ‘Blue Tits Club’ getting ready to go for a swim off the Breakwater.     The water was enticing but still cold at this time of year.    I also met Elie harbour. Dougie, up at the loch, where he was sorting out the pump end of a

23rd June 2020 (Tuesday)       08.00 .... The weather may be overcast and Elie Bay. grey but I am feeling excitable and in the mood for going somewhere;     however I’ll have to curb my excitable state because there’s a chance of rain for the next couple of hour.... with light drizzle just now.      In fact it’s not a great forecast for today so I’ll leave going any distance on the bike until tomorrow, when we are going to be bathed in sunshine:    not just tomorrow but for the next few days.    10.00     It was quiet on the beach (which is where I’ve been) but then I was later in going out this morning;   plenty of early morning jogger, walker and dog prints all over the sand.    It’s really warm and humid but dry though it looked like Edinburgh was getting rain;   of course  I had to be wearing a light fleece, well prepared for a cold snap.... which never came!     I was glad to get back to Ivy and ‘cast a couple of cloots’ (fleece and scarf).     I f it stays dry I’ll get

Bright and breezy ....

22nd June 2020 (Monday)     06.30 .... we have a ‘bright and breezy’ kind Largo Bay bound. of morning with a fresh feel to the air (there’s a brisk westerly breeze);   a nice morning for going out on the bike.   I’m not sure about going through the estate this morning..... the estate road will be wet and muddy in places;   but I will get round the villages.   09.00     I’ve been round the villages and noted that everything is where it should be and looking good.   It was bright and sunny when I went out but the sky was beginning to cloud over by the time I was back home;  and the air was cooler.     Nice morning though.... very enjoyable.    I might go out again (in the afternoon) but that depends on how busy the roads are and what the weather is doing.    Right now it’s cuppa time.    There's a chance of light rain around midday. His 'Nibs'. 11.00     The western sky has the look of rain in it;   and I have had a migraine which I’m thinking must be due to a

21st June 2020 (Sunday)     07.00 ....   There’s been a lot of rain overnight Damp Ferry High Street. and it is still raining;   heavy enough to stop me walking round to   get the car.     The sky is looking promising and we ought to get ‘sunny spells’ by mid morning though the chance of precipitation will be ‘high’.     It’s a computer morning.   08.30    The rain slackened off and I went for the paper (in the car) so I have my reading material for today.... and milk to make semolina pudding.      It’s actually a braw morning.... not a speck of dust in the air;   (no pollution)..... and it’s warm.    The rain is going to be with us most of the morning but I very much doubt if I’ll get out on the bike ‘cos there’s a lot of water on the roads.     Must ‘go go go’... slight flap on.... my stomach is feeling neglected;  and I have a mission  for today.    Well a bit of it.  This is a perfect day for doing a bit of interior gardening ..... a surprise package, a Father’s Day/
