Fresh ....

30th September 2018 (Sunday) .... 08.00     The beach is not the Elie Bay .... 10 minutes before sunrise. warmest place to be this morning.     We have sunny intervals, with a cool brisk North Westerly wind ....and   the wind is bringing a good scattering of clouds over, but they might burn off when the sun is higher.     It wasn’t a spectacular sunrise... unlike last night’s sunset ... but it was bonnie in a quiet way. I slept like a log last night.... sleeping right through until Wallace and Gromit fired up at 06.20.... a whole eight hours of ‘beauty sleep’.      By that theory the ‘thing’ that lives in the mirror should look bonnier:   ‘it’ doesn’t! 12.00     I’ve been to Leven.... having decided that I needed to do a ‘shopping’.      On the way I filled up the car at Colinsburgh.... then took it through the Leven car wash. Now?   I’m beginning to feel a tired spell coming on;   this is bad because I bought some tulip bulbs, and I plan to get them in the ground today.  It’

A 'Royal Burgh' wedding .... ....

Image
29th September 2018 (Saturday) .... 08.00       The sky was heavily 'Royal Burgh' Wedding. overcast at sunrise time, but there is a lot of blue in the sky now, and, because there’s a brisk (and cool) wind it is a really good ‘drying day’.    At this time I don’t have a ‘plan’;    I didn’t expect it to be quite as breezy, and cold as it is.... so I might not get any painting done.    However, because I have plenty other things needing to be done   I will not be a bored bunny. 19.00      We had a ‘Royal Burgh’ Wedding’ today:   which added a bit of excitement to an otherwise quiet day.   The bridal party set off from ‘Waverley’ in the Ferry High Street.     I spotted the wedding cars parked in Ferry road, and went out to get a few photos of them, a Bentley S1 (1955) and a Jaguar Mk2 (1964), however when I saw that the bridal party were leaving from ‘Waverley’ I decided to get a few photos of.... something even rarer than the two cars;   a ‘Royal Burgh’ wedding.

Cracker o' a mornin' ....

28th September 2018 (Friday) ....    08.30     I went to the beach for Sunrise time....  sunrise.... and it was gorgeous.     Oh .... I’d have cortisone for breakfast if it was allowed;   I feel almost ‘normal me’.     I’m thinking the injection has worked;   however I have to take it easy today again.     Anyway where was I?... oh aye on the beach.     We have a cracker of a morning at the Centre of The Universe,... and the makings of a bonnie day.     Calumn, who was my apprentice at the Craw’s... actually he was the best apprentice I ever met in all my painting life;   but I didn’t tell him that!... is going to pick me up at 10.00 and we’re going for coffee.      He has made a success of life .... but not as a painter.... he now works in Health and Safety offshore. I enjoyed my early morning walk, and I’m well ready for breakfast... and a cuppa. 20.00      I’ve had a really enjoyable day.     As it was a beautiful morning for a run in the car Calumn and I went Balgove, i

Perky ... after a good nights sleep

Image
27th September 2018 (Thursday) ....   08.30    We have ‘bright and Grey ....  and breezy morning. breezy’ this morning;   and this is forecast for the remainder of ‘today’;    a   nice morning... and a good drying one.... but rain is mentioned in the forecast. After the marathon coach trip yesterday,   I had 8 hours unbroken sleep last night.... my word I was tired.     Feeling perky this morning though. I’m getting a cortisone injection in my knee this morning;   so ... I’d better get a move on.       14.00      This is the ‘Drop in Cafe’ day;    and I missed the last one as I was waiting for an Amazon delivery (new printer).... so I don’t intend missing it today.     There’s also the Apple Fest in the Kirk Hall;   this is on at the same time so I might bumble round to that after the ‘Cafe’.     I’ve been for the paper(s) and coffee in Harbour House.... oh ... and I had my cortisone injection.    I won’t know for a couple of days if that has worked, but hopefully it will.

Dumfries House coach trip ....

Image
26th September 2018 (Wednesday) .... 05.15     I’m ready for the Myra at Dumfries House (Tour entrance) Dumfries House coach tour:     Myra is picking me up at 05.40, then Geoff along at Elie, to board the coach at 07.00 (Dunfermline).     Don’t know when we’ll arrive back home, but I should imagine it will be early evening time. It’s dark .... and windy. 22.00      Dumfries House is one fantastic place and well worth visiting .... but my word .... it has been a long day.     Myra and I left Earlsferry at 05.50, arriving at Dunfermline Bus Station at 06.55.     The coach left Dunfermline on time, making for Edinburgh, Bathgate, and finally Glasgow to pick up passengers.     The traffic at the cities, Edinburgh   and Glasgow, delayed us and we arrived at Dumfries House late, but in time to join the second tour of the morning. The 'House' tour lasts for one hour, and it is one interesting hour;   the tour guides know ‘their’ Dumfries House, and you get caught up

Playful ....

25th September 2018 (Tuesday) .... 08.30     It’s a nice morning, though Earlsferry High Street. I missed the sunrise, being that I slept ‘in’.      The phone alarm worked, and I had a cuppa at 04.40 as per plan.     That (the cuppa) was not my best idea;   it made feel ‘bright eyed and bushy tailed’ at quarter to five in the morning, and I couldn’t get back to sleep so lay and read my book:    eventually fell asleep at about 05.30.     Amazingly, I am still feeling frisky now.... even though I am later on the move than I’d like to have been. There’s more cloud around this morning;   in fact the weather forecast for the next couple of days is for more cloud and a touch windier.     Today we have myriads of cotton wool clouds all over the sky .... whether they turn heavier later remains to be seen.    Rain is not mentioned. Bonnie sky over Earlsferry. 09.30     There’s one thing I now know;   it’s cold down on the beach... really cold.      The wind is brisk and must be ta

Lovely morning ....

24th September 2018 (Monday) .... 08.00    We have a beautiful morning Kinneuchar....  at midday. here;    a really nice morning for doing things.    The air is chilly just now but the sun will warm things up in nae time;   and the forecast is good for the whole day.     I might work in the garden in the afternoon.     First thing this morning I have to go to Leven. 20.00      I enjoyed my trip to Leven.... and even managed to find time to go to Sainsbury’s;   and was back in plenty of time for coffee in Harbour House.    After all that I got into my working togs, the intention being to do a spot of painting.    However some of the clouds looked threatening by this time so I abandoned the painting idea;    and went to the skip at Woodhaven instead.     Of course I couldn’t go to Woodhaven without taking a walk out to the lighthouse;   this took me a while but it was pleasant in the warm sunshine, .... and .... I had the camera with me.     I met a lot of folk out there... all

Autumnal equinox ....

Image
23rd September 2018 (Autumnal Equinox).... 09.00       I feel better, and The Ferry beach at 08.00. have been for a decent walk along the beach;    having said that my legs feel a bit shaky, like I’ve had the ‘flu.   That would be annoying;   having the ‘flu two weeks before we get the ‘flu jab!    Anyway I feel better, and actually enjoyed having breakfast.    Now I need a cuppa before I consider what I’m going to do next.    There’s a lovely, fresh autumn feel to the air this sunny morning;   we have the makings of a bonnie day, though it could feel cool in the fresh Northwest breeze. 09.45     Yes ... things are definitely back to normal in Ivy;    I found a bonnie trail of sandy footprints all the way from the front door, to ... well all over the place in Ivy.     Guess what I’m doing next?.... yep ‘ooverin’.      I do have a brush at the door to clean the sand off my shoes.... unfortunately I usually walk past it. Lathallan Mill. 20.00        We’ve had a lovel

Breezy and cool ...

Image
22nd September 2018 (Saturday) ... 08.00     It was bright and breezy Elie... this morning. when I first looked out an hour and a half ago;     now it’s breezy but not as bright, because a layer of cloud has drifted over from the Northwest.     It’s cold, and I’m feeling ‘one degree under’ this morning, so haven’t ventured further than the front gate.     That reminds me....     ‘flu jabs on 1st October.     Orf to have breakfast. 20.00       I’ve been ... welll... further than the front gate;    I went for the paper, and morning coffee, then along to the re-cycling Depot at Pittenweem, where I dumped the old printer.    It was a nice morning, and warm in the car, but breezy and cool out. The new printer is easy to operate, as I discovered when and I scanned and printed off a few documents.     It’s really simple;   load the scanner then ‘click’ the necessary buttons.     I’m happy.    The hardest bit was setting it up;   and that was probably Elie. because I was under

Feeling perky ... but cold

Image
21st September 2018 (Friday) .... 08.30     It’s not the bonniest o’ Kinneuchar Station - 1960. mornin’s, being overcast with a brisk breeze,....   and cold.     It’s the kind of morning when I want to leave my body in the Royal Burrow and go for a spin round the villages, then slide back into my body and have a kip.    However I can’t quite do that so I’ll set up the printer instead.... and then go for the paper and morning coffee.... in the cosy car.     I think we should get some sunny spells later in the morning. 20.30      At last I managed to get the printer installed in the computer;     wireless version, but it was a struggle.     The first time I tried was before going for the paper... and coffee (which I was in much need of).     The written instructions were not easy to decipher, so I used the software CD that came with the printer.     It had more than everything in it, unfortunately one important instruction came two clicks beyond where I got ‘stuck’.... for the
