Edinburgh ....
12th
December 2017 (Tuesday)
..... 08.00 Another frosty, perfect for going ‘out and about’ morning ....
but there is a colder feel to the air.
‘JB’ and I are
going to Edinburgh to see the ice sculptures... and to
have a general browse around. JB might
do more browsing than I will .... I’ll most likely need to find some ‘seating
arrangements’ by mid afternoon. Must ‘go’
.... “slight flap on” .... ‘Blob’ is looking for food!

20.30 John and I went to Edinburgh today; taking in the ice sculpture display, and some
of the Christmas Market. We took the
car to Dalgety Bay rail station and took the train to Waverley. It was only a three carriage train, and
looked more like a toy train .... until we went for the train to come home; it was made up of two carriages! However it only cost £3.65, return, and the
seats were comfortable. We decided to
walk along George Street and take in the ice sculptures first, on what was a
grey cold morning. It was
considerably
warmer after we’d been through the Ice display .... they are kept frozen at -10
according to the bloke on the door.
They were really well done, but not very easy to photograph, with them
being more or less ‘see through clear’.

From
the ice display we wandered down to Princes Street, and thence to the gardens,
eventually reaching the ‘Market’ stands at the Art Gallery. It was here that we bought something; a huge,
German Brat Wurst burger thing .... my word it was tasty.... and warming after
the cold of the sculptures. We
poodled our way back towards Waverley, through the ‘market stands’, ending with
a coffee in the Princes Mall, before catching the aforementioned train(?) to Dalgety
Bay.
My
legs are tired tonight, but I am happy because I didn’t know if my legs could
cope
with all this hard ground walking, and I enjoyed seeing all the different
things on sale: I’ve never even thought
of a wooden tie, let alone see one, before today..... there were loads of interesting, and colourful items for sale. Having said that; the stands with the most
customers were the food stands.
Interesting notice .... |
I have the Friendship Lunch in the Kirk
Hall. John did the diplomatic thing
deciding to do his Christmas shopping, in St Andrews .... unhindered!
We
have rain tonight, and tomorrow is forecast to be rather grey ...with the chance
of a few sunny spells later.
