A 'bright breezy, and cold July morning .....
3rd
July 2016 (Sunday)
...... 10.00 we have a lovely, ’bright, breezy and cool cold, July morning. Although there’s heat in the sun, there’s a
cold wind blowing; I had to wear a ‘winter’ hat and jacket when out
on the bike. When I think
of it, this
is the ‘start’ of the main holiday season;
the villages will be ‘busy’ for the next couple of months...... but it
doesn’t feel like summer, at least not today.
I’m going out to the Hutte to read the paper..... and have ‘morning
coffee’.
Elie beach this afternoon ... and it was cold |
21.00 If this was October we could have called
today a ‘bonnie day’ day, but it isn’t October, it’s the third of July ... and
summer time. It has been a nice enough
day, spoiled by the very brisk, and very cold wind. Ferry Road has been busy, with all kinds
of vehicles today, always a good indication that it’s ‘summer holiday’ time
.... at one point thirteen motorbikes, of various shapes, sizes and vintages
went down There also has been the
usual number of motor homes looking for Elie Caravan Park; I guess their sat- navs will come up with the village of Elie, which is really handy
when the caravans are geographically situated at Shell Bay. They’ll have to re-draw the map!
I
went out for a walk later in the afternoon;
my usual, along the beach, ‘roond the Chapel’, and back via the Ferry High
Street walk. The beach was busy, even
though it was spitting rain at times.... and certainly not warm. There were people messing
about in the sea,
but they must have been wearing those wet suit things to stop themselves from
getting hypothermia! I wonder if dogs
get hypothermia? I suppose they would,
but they run about all over the place, so keep warm that way. I remember when I did that! Run about all over the place i.e. Anyway, it was good to see the beach being ‘used’,
and folk enjoying it: but I didn’t see
anyone sitting in a deck chair reading a book!

Today
I half filled the ‘broon’ bucket with weeds ooops ... native flora... (and
probably fauna), .... that has infiltrated Ivy garden. I get a lot of satisfaction from doing this
.... weeds are in fact really good therapeutic ‘things’: I must grow more of them! I found a ‘new’ kind of weed the other day,
a tall skinny plant with purple flowers;
it looks really attractive. It
must have come from the bird seed. Being as it looks bonnie I’ll leave it and
see if it appears next year. It will
probably take over, what it thinks is, it’s part of the
garden.... but, because
it grows tall, there won’t be any bending involved when pullingSandit out! There
was a young Sparrow Hawk perched on the wall today; it
looked hungry so that meant it hadn’t caught
‘Blob’ or any of his friends.

The
morning part of tomorrow is forecast to be bright and dry, then clouding over from
the West late,.... and, with the clouds
comes the threat of rain. It isn’t
going to be as windy as it was today, so it should feel warmer. I'm hoping for a temperature in the lower 20's C.
