Wet and windy ....
1st November 2023 (Wednesday) 08.00 .... It's not a morrrrrrning for being 'out and about'!
The weather forecast for our area is 'heavy rain showers with a fresh breeze'; but it has been raining since I looked out at 05.30, so the actual weather is 'wet (very) and windy'. The rain should slacken off by lunch time. I am not going out on the bike! The roofers will be glad that they finished the roof yesterday; I don't know if the scaffolders are coming today, but it isn't a day for working outside.
11.15 I've been along to Mercury (Motors) to pick Up Myra who took her car along to have a check up; a bit like going to the car dentist. We had 'morrrrrning coffee' at Myra's when we got back to the Royal Burgh. There's a lot of water on the roads, the worst bit being at the bridge over the Cocklemill Burn near (the former) Kinneuchar Station. The rain is still heavy, though is does occasionally slacken off... and even stop, now and again; there's actually a slight chance of sunny spells in the afternoon! I'm going to settle down with the pens and pencils after another cuppa.
17.00 The rain moved away (for a wee while), the sun broke through, to give us a pleasantly warm sunny spell; it only lasted an hour or so then the sky clouded over.... and its raining now. I went to the harbour (in the car) to enjoy the sun, and take a few photos... and I wasn't the only one enjoying the warm sun; the harbour area had a few folk wandering around.
The scaffolders arrived this afternoon (when I was sleeping); half of the scaffolding had been dismantled by the time I wakened. The gable scaffolding is still in place .... as I expected it would be. This means the stonemason can make a start when the weather settles down.
22.30 Series 8 of 'Shetland stated tonight and I have to watch that; it's only Episode One but there's already been two murders: it's getting to be like 'Midsomer Murders'.
It is not going to be a good drying day tomorrow with a Yellow Warning for rain beginning at 06.00
active right through to 06.00 on Friday. Pollution levels will be low.
