Misty and cool ....
6th June 2023 (Tuesday)
79th
Anniversary of the D-Day landings.
08.00....today’s weather looks like being a repeat of yesterday’s ; it’s cloudy with a light
breeze off the water. As has been happening for the past few days the sun should break through to give us a bright and sunny afternoon; but cool along the East coast (that’s us). I’m going to Methil to torment Alice.... might do a wee bit o’ shopping when in town.
20.15 We’ve had another bonnie day.... and busy
one. Alice and I went to the ‘Bargain
Store’ to purchase some vital necessities; Alice wanted a new kettle and I
wanted toothpaste.... and a few other vitals.
The Bargain Store didn’t have kettles so we went to B ‘n M’s who
did. We then bumbled back to Alice’s,
boiled the kettle twice, then had a cuppa.
The tea tasted the same but the kettle was entertaining; changing colour as it heats up.
Ivy
Cottage Summer Time started today! My
summer begins when the car windows start going up and down: Ivy Summer Time (hereafter IST) can begin any
time from mid May.... and usually ends any time from mid September to mid
October. My car does not like damp
weather (it’s a problem with VW Polo’s of that age) and the windows stop operating
with the arrival of autumn mists and much fruitfulness. Forget all other methods of reckoning the
start of summer; IST works.... and only
during actual good weather! I’m a happy
boy again... summer is here!
The ‘Ferry Lodge’ renovation/extension is beginning to take shape; I think we could have a roof in a couple of weeks or so. It’s clever the way they have planned the building to allow us to have as much light as possible in the back garden.... not only by digging down but by altering the roof shape. Clever stuff.
I
worked on my drawing when I got back from Alice’s; and had the occasional catnap! Oh.... we met Irene (Mills) in the Bargain
Store; Irene remembered Alice from her
Colinsburgh days. And so ends another
busy and happy day.
