Not sunny .....

10th January 2023 (Tuesday)   10.00.... we have a wet and miserable


morning here.... and, having checked the Fife Weather cams, there’s no sign of it improving for a few hours at least.   I’ve got the crock pot fired up with batch of Scotch Broth for the freezer;  I’ll do a batch of Cottage Pies for the freezer tomorrow. 

 I’ve come to the conclusion that, what I thought was ‘flu, must have been another dose of COVID, back in December. I now have the same symptoms (dizziness and choked tubes) that I had four weeks or so after the first dose (of COVID), at the end of March (2022). Luckily enough I self isolated, so didn’t spread it around;  and I tested before going back into circulation again.    I intend missing out the long COVID that I ended up with the last time.  It’s morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee time.


15.00     I am disappointed!    Why?.... nae sunny spells today....not yet anyway! However, I went out in the car and did the Kinneuchar/ Balbuthie/ Elie Harbour run .... taking a few ‘wet look’ photos on the way.   It’s funny: no matter what the weather our corner of the planet looks bonnie.   Everywhere was quiet;  in fact I didn’t meet anyone.... not even a dog dragging it’s human oot for a bit o’ exercise.   Hardly surprising really.... it’s damp!

The aroma coming off the crock pot is starting to make me feel hungry;   I don’t think it will be quite ready yet, but I’ll have a taste;  maybe even two.

18.30    The soup is tasty.... and I have 7 portions for the freezer.   Tomorrow I’ll make


mince and tautties (alias Cottage Pies) in the afternoon.   Bulk cooking is one way of saving energy.   It has been a good day for working in the kitchen;  that reminds me.... the crock pot has to be washed.

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
