Cool breeze off the sea ....
31st
May 2020 (Sunday) 06.00 .... there’s almost a wall to wall blue
sky
this morning but there is also a cool breeze from the southeast which will
take a few degrees off the temperature.... a bonnie day but cool, with the
chance of haar coming in later. I’m
having a cuppa before going out on the bike.
Threat of haar coming in from the North Sea. |
09.00 Well I’ve been out on the hike (for an hour
and a half) and, although it’s a bonnie morning it is cold exposed to the wind.
... and the haar isn’t far away. The sun will get rid of the haar but it will come back in the afternoon/evening.
I only went round the villages stopping to get my paper at the paper shop on the way.... and taking photos from my favourite spots all the way round. We have/had a Whooper swan on the harbour beach.... having a rest before flying on north. It’s a pity he hadn’t flown another mile and stopped on the loch where he’d have been on fresh water.

15.00 ‘The Troops’ (Kirsty, Myra, Geoff and ‘the
Boy’) had their first ‘morning coffee’ chat on Myra’s patio this morning: it was really relaxing talking as a group, and
the first time we’ve been able to feel that there is a future ‘normal’ after
all.... albeit not the same as the ‘old normal’ but an acceptable and enjoyable
‘normal’ for us. It was good catching
up with each other’s ‘news’ and just being together
again....while observing
the two metre ‘rool’. The haar had
rolled back to the North Sea so it was pleasantly warm though the wind did
freshen eventually bring a slight drop in temperature.

The
villages are busy today; as is the water: I saw a jet ski flashing across the bay. It’s a pity they couldn’t fit silencers on
those; they are awfie noisy. It is good seeing things getting more ‘normal’,
but this t is also when the virus could be brought into our bubble
unknowingly; a risk that the government is prepared to take
but is it too soon? Time will tell.
I
am about to have a cuppa (in the Hutte) and have a quick scan through the paper
(Observer)... then I’ll probably fall asleep.
19.30 I’ve had a good day.... and the day is
ending with a nice evening: no sign of
the haar coming back in which is good.
The coffee morning at Myra’s has been the highlight of the day.... in
fact the highlight of the last 10 weeks.

‘crane
in’ is taking place at the harbour tomorrow so the harbour will be back to its
summer compliment of sailing craft etc.
I’ll try to get down there but if it looks too busy I may just take pictures
from The Terrace thus staying ‘safe’.
It won’t be the same as being ‘up close’ but at least I’ll have ‘Crane
In’ on record. The forecast is good
for tomorrow.
