Decorator Budd....

29th July 2020 (Wednesday)     09.30 .... It’s such a beautiful morning that I

came home by way of Balbuthie and Kinneuchar:  which was a bit of luck as I met and stopped to chat to Davie Budd.... one time Decorator with Stevenson and Horsburgh.... now self employed, and helping to keep the East Neuk looking pristine.    We went into reminiscing mode .... my word we had some hilarious time on the building sites.    And some rough ones too. 

18.30    The weather has been nice and I have been busy so we have a contented ‘boy’ inn Ivy Cottage tonight.     By the time I’d finished ‘playing with my morning batch of photographs it was coffee break time.... and I felt that I deserved it.    After the coffee break I decided to finish the wee sign.    Sign writing  second nature to me at one time.... now it’s not quite so easy.   The brain knows what it wants the hand to do but the hand isn’t as flexible as it once was.   However ‘we’ got there.... and I am pleasantly surprised at how it has turned out.

After lunch I had a rest half hour in ‘The Hutte’.    When I woke up I decided to to up to Kinneuchar and annoy Shona;  and mooch an afternoon cuppa at the same time.    Shona has been planting shrubs in her garden including a Pohutukawa tree .... also known as the New Zealand Christmas tree (because it  blossoms at Christmas, which, in New Zealand, is in the middle of summer).     We admired the garden while having our afternoon cuppa.

I came home by way of Elie Estate and Elie:  I didn’t see anybody that I knew but I did notice that Elie is busy with holidaymakers.... just like Earlsferry.

21.00     Tomorrow is ‘H’ Day .... i get my haircut.     I’ve sort of got used to long hair so

Kinneuchar.
I’ll see what Kirsty (hairdresser) wants to do with it;  though it  probably go back to what it was before ‘lockdown’.     I might, when in Leven anyway,  do a wee bit of shopping ....it depends on how busy the shops look.

Big adventure tomorrow;  it  is going to be the first time that I’ll have been in Leven since the week before ‘lockdown’ .... and that was to have my hair cut. 

  

 

‘Blogger’ has been ‘improved’ but as far as I can see it’s a complete mess ....  photos inserted into text just doesn’t work.     Why is it that something that works has to be ‘improved’?

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
