Overcast and wet .....


6th December 2019 (Friday)     09.00 ....  we have an overcast and wet
Earlsferry from Woodhaven.
start to the day, but it is mild (for the time of year) .... it’s 10c on the garden thermometer.    The forecast for 'KY9’ isn’t that bad;  “light rain showers and a moderate breeze”, .... I’m looking for sunny spells later, but that’s maybe wishful thinking.    It’s going to be a Christmas card writing day for me, .... with breaks for coffee... and the dentist.


19.00    We have had a ‘nae bad’ kind of day as far as the weather went;  in fact we had a few sunny spells later in the afternoon.    I’ve had hectic day, but pleasurable day, and will be glad to crawl into bed tonight;  I even enjoyed my trip, to the dentist.   The Dentist has been the special surprise this week because when I went along on Tuesday to make an appointment I

really didn’t expect to get anything until after the festive season.   However it has all worked out perfectly, having made the appointment to have a check up on Tuesday morning,... then had the check up on Tuesday afternoon and finally a clean and polish today.   All ‘done and dusted’ within four days .... mostly due to folk having had to cancel appointments due to the cold/flu virus.
In Anstruther I bumped into Winston, who I haven’t seen for a long time, and caught up with some of his news.    I’ll go along to Anstruther next week to have a real blether with him:  Winston works in the Fisheries Museum Boatyard.
I’ve been trying to buy a new Railcard online.. ye Gods ... you’d think I was trying to hack into somewhere important.  I have managed to get as far as come up with a new
Earlsferry 15 minutes after sunset.
password .... but that is proving to be almost insurmountable.   I’ll try again later in the evening.   It’s only a Railcard I’m wanting not a whole train!

Tomorrow’s ‘plan’ is still in the embryonic  stage.... and will be until I come up with an acceptable password for Railcard!    The weather is forecast to be “Light rain with a frisky breeze” .... so ... nothing new there.   I’m hoping to visit Jim tomorrow being that I didn’t get along that way today.   In the meantime I shall have a cuppa then have another go at Railcard.
20.30    My word .... I finally concocted an acceptable password and have renewed the Railcard.   I need another cuppa!

6th October 2024 (Sunday)    "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary"  to Brian and Moira". 09.00 .... All the Fife Weather cams are showing overcast skies.   The Anstruther cam looks the bleakest!..... the Lochgelly the least bleak.  The Easterly breeze has brought the weather in from the North Sea.... and  'sunny spells' are not mentioned in the weather forecast, but ... sometimes the sky looks promising!   It's a good day to be inside.  Luckily I, (and all the other guests), are celebrating Brian and Moira's Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Lindsay Room at Kinneuchar Castle. 10.30     It's still raining, but the sky looks promising now and again;  the sun might break though in the afternoon.  I had a walk round the patio in the light rain; very refreshing.    I'm having morrrrrrrrrrrning coffee before I start to get organised for Kinneuchar Castle. 20.30    We had a really pleasant family and friends gathering to celebrate Brian and Moira's Gol

Nice morning ....

16th August 2024 (Friday)  08.30 ...It's a lovely morning but a layer of thin cloud is taking the Jackie. edge off the temperature so we have a chilly start to the day;  hopefully the sun will burn off the cloud to give us a sunny and warm(er) day soon.    The Auchnagatt 'troops' are expected to arrive about 10.30:  and I am organised .... and looking forward to seeing Jackie, Hazel, Catriona and Iain in one photograph.... a rare occurrence nowadays!  20.30 .... I got the photograph that I wanted... all four (soon to be five) of the Lawrie Family of 'Backhill of Inkhorn' (Auchnagatt) in one place!   It has been a most enjoyable day.  We had lunch at the very popular Cupar Garden Centre Restaurant (it was busy) followed by a browse round the garden centre:  the 'troops' did proper browsing:  I had quick browse followed by a catnap in the car.   The middle of the afternoon is my siesta time; and especially so after a good lunch!   And it was a really good lun

Cold and overcast ....

18th April 2024 (Thursday)    08.00 .... The Fife Weather cams are all showing an overcast sky:  rain hasn't reached Fife so far, but is expected to arrive by mid morrrrrrrning...."light rain and a fresh Westerly breeze" being the forecast until later in the afternoon;  but we're going to end the day with a bonnie evening.  Hmmmmm .... I don't think I'll be painting any bits of the shed today; and that was my project to take my mind off the car.   Computer stuff it will have to be:  I'm actually in a writing mood so this might not be a wasted day. 09.00   Forget the heap oops... car (it's in the 'bad car' corner);  I'm excited because the workmen are here to begin work on the patio. They arrived a wee while ago;  unfortunately spits and spots o' rain arrived at the same time and, if  the rain is heavy and prolonged they won't be able to do much.   Showers are OK but not prolonged rain.  Must 'go' got to have another cuppa
