31st March 2016 (Thursday)   .... 09.00      There’s a change with the weather this morning ....   the wind,(F2) is from the East, the sky is mostly overcast, but it’s dry, and actually nice for being out and about:    wellll ...‘out and about’ anywhere, Lone jogger on The Ferry beach barring the bottom of Ferry Wynd, where there’s a blocked drain, with raw sewage all over the place.    Avoid the bottom of Ferry Wynd! The beach was peaceful, just a single jogger, three folk out walking their dogs, and myself.      I didn’t go ‘roond the Chapel’ this morning;    I didn’t get ‘up’ until ‘Wallace and Gromit’ fired up at 06.50., and   therefore running behind schedule ...... “Puku” needed feeding.       My original ‘plan’ was to find a “Molly” to coddle me today:    however, I suspect that any mollycoddling will have to be self inflicted.     ...

30th March 2016 (Tuesday) .... 09.00       Joyful ‘us’ .... we have a stunning morning here at the ‘Centre of the Universe’ .... bright, sunny and warm, with only a smirr of a Northwest breeze, it’s definitely a morning for doing things.     My ‘things to do’ have been set in stone this morning.... I visited The Boss’s Seat when out  Migrating swans on my walk, and got my instructions:    I have to get the computer desks cleared so that   Ras ... er ‘Uncle Iain’ can get the new computer set up at the weekend.... I suspect that ‘Granny and Emily’ have been in ‘contact’!     Actually I’m in a mood to get that done this morning.... I have been out or my morning walk, and I’ll take time out to circumnavigate the villages on the bike in the afternoon.    Emily and John are going to Edinburgh (I think) so I’ll get the shredder set up, in the Hutte, and have a morning sorting out some paper rubbish. ...

The Troops .....

29th March 2016 (Tuesday) ...09.00      I should be in ‘major flap on’ mode, but, since I came back from my morning walk along the beach... and ‘roond the Chapel’ .... I cannot work myself intae a ‘flap on’ state at all, it was so peaceful Sunrise ‘out’.     The thing is ‘The Troops’ are coming and I should really be ‘ooverin’ and dustin’ and stuff like that .... I’ll start by pressing the switch on the kettle.    Oh, I forgot to tell you;    I was flicking Maggie’s pet spiders around with the feather duster when all the feathers fell out!      Q.   What do you call a bald feather duster?     A.     a useless plastic pole!      Now I’d better have a cuppa,.... then make an effort to get the ‘ooverin’ done! 23.30      My word ... we have had a busy, and very enjoyable day.     The ‘Troops’ arrived about 16.30, having drive...

Spring at last ....

The Breakwater, Elie 28th March 2016 (Monday) ... 08.00     The beach was very quiet this morning .... only myself and one other person, who might have been my neighbour Chris, taking “Skye” for her morning walk, but they were too far away to recognise.     The tide was ‘in’...   it had just started to ebb actually,   so I didn’t have much beach to ‘play’ with;   however I had a leisurely walk along to The Breakwater and back, long enough to work up an appetite. It looks like being a bonnie day, as far as the weather goes by the look of it at sunrise time.... though the sunrise wasn’t visible, being hidden behind low clouds.     I have a washing on the line, so I’m looking for some nice sunshine, with a light Westerly breeze, to dry it. Elie Bay 22.30       We’ve had a beautiful Spring day at the “Centre of the Universe” today .... a perfect drying day!     It’s amazing ...

Bonnie sky ....

26th March 2016 (Saturday) ..... 09.30      It was fantastic down on the beach this morning:     a really exciting sky, in every direction(clouds everywhere), things happening all over the place, with people on the beach, and even a windsurfer Elie on the water.... and this was at 07.30.    The   “Centre of the Universe” is alive and looking absolutely marvellous.      The sky is mostly covered with the aforementioned ‘exciting clouds’, and there is a brisk South Westerly breeze;   however it isn’t cold.     If you want stimulating, in body and soul, Elie and Earlsferry is the place to be;   especially on the beach.      Of course I’m looking at it as someone who likes clouds.... and not everyone likes clouds;     especially if you’re looking for a suntan!      Must ‘go’ ... ‘flap on’ .... “Puku” is hungry! 22.00    ...

Down amongst the rocks ....

25th March 2016 (Friday) 07.30 ..... we have ,“bright and sunny” with a cool westerly breeze this morning;     a lovely morning for ‘frolicking’.... and a nice ‘drying day’.    Low tide is at 09.20, so I’m going down to the beach to plowter around Early morning jogger on Elie beach the rocks, before getting the bike out and going down to the harbour:   ‘The Galley’ opens for the summer season, tomorrow, Saturday..... the holiday has me thinking ‘today’ is Saturday.         However, before doing anything else I must hang out the washing. 10.30     It’s beautiful down on the beach, definitely “bright and sunny” .... and it’s good to see it, the beach, with people enjoying themselves.     There was a good mix of things going on .... dogs, and people enjoying Elie and Earlsferry.     The tide was out, and it is a fairly low one, but not exceptional.... however it was far enou...

Happiness spreading day ....

24th March 2016 (Thursday) .... 08.30       Although it’s dreich, overcast with light rain   just now, the clouds in Western sky look like they are ‘breaking up’, so it should be “bright, and maybe even sunny” by the afternoon.... and windier.      I A quiet corner of Elie beach haven’t been down to the beach this morning;    but I will go out, after I update the Hutte and have   breakfast.     This wetness will have scuppered any ‘tidy up the garden’ plans .... the ‘broon’ bucket is full anyway.... so it looks like being ‘ousework this morning;    after I get back from the beach of course!     20.30     Most of today has been spent inside Ivy doing ‘ousework .... ironing etc.     Jimmy came along for his morning cuppa;    and I was well ready for a break.      We blethered up to lunch time.... and finished orf th...

23rd March 2016 (Wednesday) .... 07.45      It’s overcast, but dry, this morning.... a nice enough morning for going ‘out and about’:   which I’m doing;     shopping in Leven most of the morning.      It was quiet down on the beach, but I wasn’t alone this morning .... a lassie jogger out for some morning exercise.    I used to enjoy Jogger on Elie beach running... and I enjoy seeing others doing it now.     Better go and have a cuppa before taking orf for Leven. 21.30      I’ve had a great day;   mostly ‘playing’ but I did do some ‘ooverin’ and dustin’... and, changed the Hoover bag:    and that was a job (fitting anew Hoover bag) that stretched the auld brain.     However I got it done, and I’m looking forward to doing some real ‘ooverin’ and dustin’ tomorrow. The shopping went exceedingly well.... and, being as it’s “Puku’s” birthday I ...

"Blob" is 'in love' .....

22nd March 2016 (Tuesday) .... 08.00      We have a “bright and sunny” morning, and it’s warm;    as long as you are sheltered from the chilly Northwest breeze.      Having said that .... I was ‘out’, on the Chapel Green at 05.50, waiting for Sunrise from Chapel Green Earlsferry ‘sunrise’, and it was chilly then;     it will be less so now.     The sun appearing over the horizon was hidden by clouds:    and didn’t appear above those clouds for another ten minutes:    still it was bonnie and, for me,   well worth the early start to my day.      I’ll take ‘50’ in the Hutte.... after the sun has raised the temperature, to around 65f.       “Puku” is grumbling so it must be breakfast time! 21.30      Oh Dearie me .... “Blob” is in the state of being ‘in love’!    He’s doing his best to attract this ‘gir...

21.00        The weather did stay ‘nice’ all day .... and my washing dried nae bother;    so not only has it been a bonnie day it has also been a productive and satisfying one.   Elie Bay this morning     Today I pruned some kind o’ shrub that Maggie planted;   definitely the prickliest thing I’ve had to prune so far....   pruning an acacia tree came into my mind at one point.      Anyway the bush has been pruned, and the ‘broon’ is ‘full’.     I might take some ‘garden’ stuff along to the Recycling Depot at Pittenweem later in the week. After lunch, I felt tired and in much need of ‘50’, so I retired to the Hutte and read a bit of my book before falling asleep for around   20 minutes.     Feeling frisky after the short rest, I made a cuppa, read another bit of my book, did a wee bit more garden tidying, then decided that I Kincraig Cliffs Earlsferry ...

Elie and Earlsferry this morning. 21st March 2016 (Monday) .... 06.30      “Happy Birthday to Iain”, who, sometime this afternoon, will be;    extremely long drrrrrummmmm rrrrolll .......1,609,372,800 seconds old.     Jings that is auld right enough!    Have a great day at work.... and a couple of Kit Cats!    I have no doubt that Jackie, Martin and Catriona will surprise you. We have a lovely morning here in the East Neuk:    it was nice down on the beach, but the cold North West breeze is still with us;    that said it looks like being a bonnie day.    I have a washing ‘on’, which should dry in the aforementioned cauld breeze!     I’m hungry ....orf to have breakfast!

Getting fit again ....

12th March 2016 (Saturday) .... 08.30     It looks like being another nice enough day .... there’s more of a wind, (from the Southwest), but it’s not unpleasant.     It was good to see a ‘girlfriend’ down on the beach for sunrise, one of the lassies from Sunrise time ‘across from Skipper’s house’ ... I am awfie at remembering names;    anyway we both enjoyed a bonnie, 10 minutes late sunrise,....   due to clouds on the horizon.     Having said that the ten minutes before the actual sunrise is when you get the bonniest sky.    Orf....   to have breakfast, “Puku” is grumbling. 20.00      This has been one of the most satisfying days I’ve had re getting my muscles back into shape after my hip replacement:    I cycled ‘my’;    St Monans/Abercrombie/Arncroach/ Balcarres/Colinsburgh/Kilconquhar, training route ....a total distance of 20.28k (12.6 miles) from Ivy to I...
